I’ve always wanted one of these, and when I managed to get a steal of a deal I bit the bullet and purchased.
It took a fair bit of time to get used to but after a couple of months, I think I have it down now.
XCS software is great and very intuitive. It manages to cut 6mm plywood easily. Engraving is good and I’ve managed to engrave photos on slate coasters to a good standard.
Cleaning is a pain though, and it needs a good clean every hour or 2 of use for consistently good outcomes.
It can cut and engraved most materials except from cutting metal or deep marking of metal. Most wood and leather and rock works fine so it’s quite versatile.
One minor point is that it’s got quite a large footprint so it takes up allot of space, so probably not for someone without a decent room and desk for i
The product is good, does everything I want.
The only thing I struggled with is adjusting the height of the laser. I found it quite difficult to adjust at times.
But overall it’s quality.
I have had this for a short while now, and in the main it is very good. The packaging was 1st class and the build instrtuctions comprehensive. Engraving wise it does what it is made for. My only gripe is cable management, IO have had to re route two of the cables as they were getting snagged as the laser bar moved front to back and vice versa, the cables were tied on the inner side of the frame and not under the frame where they will be out of harms way. I brought this up with Xtool as a suggested change for the future, but it does not help me at the moment. I could drill a few extra holes to tie the cables under the frame, but that would invalidate my warranty. It is a rock and a hard place situation, leave the cables as is and potentially damage them, or protect the cables and invalidate the warranty.
The XTool arrives almost gift wrapped, it all comes neatly packed in purpose assembled boxes. The machine is of high quality, very sturdy and fits together well. The instructions are mainly through photos, so a little more detail would be helpful.
I have been very happy with my D1 Pro 20watt. Since getting it I have been able to start my own business.
I have put on some of the things I have been able to cut. I have a long list of things that I cut and sell.
The customer service at xtool has also been very good. The photo’s hopefully show the detail of how well it cuts. Very pleased and looking forward to up grading in the future to the 40 watt.
