This forged steel hand weeder is available in either a 12 inch or 16 inch length. I chose the 16 inch length as I have wide raised beds so needed the extra reach.
It arrived with the “spikes” (or tines) protected.
As soon as it arrived, I set to work on the weeds which seemed to have appeared overnight ! It seemed to work quite well on the Herb Robert which was taking over, but getting the grassy weeds out was a little more challenging, but we got there in the end! For the dreaded dandelions it had no effect on them whatsoever.
My observations would be that this is a good tool for pulling light weeds, but it does have a few drawbacks:-
Firstly, the whole thing, including the handle is made from forged steel. We are currently having a cold and wet April, and I found the handle to be very cold and uncomfortable against my skin when using it. I could have worn gardening gloves, but I normally prefer not to. I think a wooden handle would have made it much more pleasant to hold.
Secondly, the head of the tool seems to be at a strange angle. It could be that I am using it wrongly, so I will give it the benefit of doubt. I think if it had been attached to a full length handle to use whilst standing, the angle would have been fine, but for a shortened version it is awkward.
In conclusion, this is a handy tool to have in your gardening kit, and the current price of 8.99 is reasonable — just don’t expect miracles !

This gardening tool helps me a lot in removing weeds. Portable and lightweight. Easy to use and effective. Saves me time, energy and effort.
Made from high quality manganese steel. I like how sturdy and durable it is.
I ordered size 12 inches but 16 inches is also available if you want a bit longer.
Price is 8.59
This is a lightweight little tool which I wanted for clearing out pots and for getting weeds out from in between plants. I’ve tried it out on some of my plant pots that need clearing and found it’s quite good for dragging loose weeds off the surface and for digging down under the roots. It’s also easer and more effective than the small fork I would normally use.
My husband does most of the gardening work, and he’s also keen to try anything that makes life easier, so he’s quite pleased with it!
It seems reasonably strong although it’s not very neatly welded at the joins. The points are sharp though and up to now they don’t seem to bend, so it’s effective at what it does.
Overall, it’s a simple but useful little tool which makes the dreary job of weeding that bit easier.
My garden is aimed at wildlife and fairly unkempt, however I do try to do a bit of basic maintenance every so often to make sure it’s not completely reclaimed by the more invasive species. I’ve tested all sorts of weeding devices as I find different styles work better for different plants and different areas, but this one is different to any other in my collection. To begin with, I did not have high hopes as it feels fairly lightweight and does look like the kind of thing that might literally buckle under the slightest bit of pressure. I’ve yet to see how it holds up to long term use, but early experiments have truly surprised me as it does seem to be tougher than it looks and the style is genuinely effective at rooting out even quite stubborn weeds. The shape of the head means it can be used in different ways depending on the type of plant you are dealing with. It works best at close range which suits me well as I prefer to sit when I am working in the garden, but it won’t be for everyone. The one real drawback I noticed in use was the handle, which is moulded from the same bit of metal and lacks any sort of covering. It is comfortable enough to hold, but the lack of any sort of grippiness means that as soon as you start fighting with a stubborn weed, you can lose purchase on it. Would be much better with a textured or insulated handle. However, for 8.59 at time of review, I believe this will prove to be a very useful tool in my gardening arsenal.
We got this for a friend who loves to keep her garden nice but it’s getting more difficult for her so though this would be a good aid.
It’s not a heavyweight tool so won’t get deep rooted weeds out easily but if your garden generally just needs a regular clearing then it’s just about right.
Construction is simple but it should last okay, and maintenance is minimal.
This handy weeder was carefully packed in a long air bubble plastic bag. The sharp head was covered by thick cardboard for safe delivery. Its short handle with smooth grip is comfortable to hold. The weeder is made of high-quality anti-rust manganese steel which is lightweight and easy to use. It is designed to be used in a relatively small area. It can easily work between plants and can do a good job to remove weeds thanks to its small but sharp tine. It dig under the weed then pull its roots out of the ground. However, I don’t think it will be able to remove the stubborn, deep-rooted weeds. For example, it is suitable for removing the stem, leaves and flowers of dandelions above ground as well as the upper roots, but it won’t be able to remove the deep small roots. It can also be used to loosen the soil in a small vegetable patch before seeding.
This is a pretty basic little grubber-type gardening hand tool. It’s made of steel, with the head and handle welded on to the bent arm. I like the design of it,: the toothed side is good for grubbing up weeds that have roots near the surface, such as nettles, pellitory and things like oxalis. The other side is almost like a hoe, and helps with digging out deeper rooted weeds such as those with tap roots. It’s also really well-designed for preparing beds for planting, where it will rake through the soil and make it easy to cover seeds lightly.
For my own use I will probably cover the handle with a silicone sleeve to make it a bit mnore comfortable (and less hot when the sun comes!); but if using with gloves that isn’t necessary, just me being picky. Generally is seems to be well-made with no obvious faults or weaknesses. Recommended!
