Luv how easy it is to inflate.. Nothing like not needing a pump.. Very handy mattress to have if you love to travel and camp..or just handy to have in general.. Great for the price too..
Purchased one of these to try out, as we usually use the regular air beds for camping but we are fed up with them deflating in the night, year after year – so we thought we’d try these out.
So glad we did! A bit confusing as to how to inflate it to start with, but once up, we left it overnight at home to make sure it didn’t deflate, then packed it back away, and yes jr goes back into its small bag without issue. We have just come back from a 7 day camping trip, and we ended up buying 2 of these for this trip.
Both myself, my husband and our 2 girls (7/10) were really impressed. The kids said it was so comfortable and both slept really well. I suffer from bad hips and back, so for me, it was very firm/hard which really didn’t bode well and I was in such pain, but that’s not necessarily the products fault, I just cannot sleep on a hard surface and that’s my own issue, but this is incredibly firm when 2 people are sleeping on it, but aside from me, my husband loved it – and he’s a fussy camping sleeper (especially when it comes to being woken up at 3am with a partially deflated air bed in recent years!) and the best part, in the whole 7 days, not once did they lose any air or need pumping up, it never even came up in conversation, they were that good, so in short, they both stayed up for the entire 7 days and would have no doubt gone much longer – really nice quality, long enough and plenty wide enough for 2 adults with space (I’m 5ft 11 and my feet don’t reach the end).
Nicely built in pillows, no noise when using it, you can walk across it and it doesn’t move or fold in anywhere, and we didn’t feel the cold (we always lay blankets down on top of our camping mattresses anyway)
We would 100% recommend this – but would recommend something else for anyone like me who suffers from back/hip/shoulder problems as it is VERY firm when 2 people share it and the air is compressed to its max capacity. Less so when laying on it alone and perhaps would have been more comfortable for me if I was using it alone 🙂
I have only inflated this to test and it is quite comfortable. I would say it is much easier to inflate by mouth rather than foot. Using my feet didn’t work at all.
My son did Duke of Edinburgh bronze and was upset I had bought this rather than a roll mat. That’s was until it was bedtime. Super quick to inflate and pack away. Smaller than the mat and comfortable
When it comes to Inflating Sleeping Pads for Camping, there are three key questions. How long does it take to inflate, is it comfortable and how quickly does it dry. Calling it “self inflating” is a breach of the trades description act. It has to be pumped up although to be fair it does not take long. It is very comfortable and could double up as a spare bed while the material is durable. However it does not seem to hold heat very well and thus would be pretty useless for winter camping.
This pad arrived folded and rolled down to a surprising size of 28 x13 cm and, after removing the shipping packaging, weighed 876g on my scales. The pad is constructed from an outdoor grade 40D nylon with an interior TPU coating to ensure air sealing.
Don’t let the manufacturer’s product name:- “Aptliton Self Inflating Sleeping Pad” mislead you… because this is not a “self-inflating” sleeping mat at all….. The pad DOES need to be pumped-up to pressure using a foot pump which is cleverly built into the end of the sleeping pad. Inflating the pad took me around a minute and produced a pad of 10cm thickness. The pad has the typical ‘box waffle’ interior air pockets seen on many air beds – and, under test, it provided a very comfortable sleeping platform. It is possible to link two of these mats together to form a ‘double mattress” size…. a useful feature since they can be re-packed and carried separately after use.
Indeed, after use, I found the construction materials of this Aptliton sleeping pad were light and flexible enough to easily deflate and re-pack it down to its compact carrying-size. Some air pads and mats have time-consuming deflation and refolding hassles – but that was not the case here.
Several days of testing have shown this to be a very capable and comfortable lightweight pad which showed no signs whatsoever of deflation overnight. An impressive air pad… but what a pity about the ambiguous advertising…
As far as sleeping pads go, this is one of the better ones I have tried thanks to the increased support the inflating offers, as well as the compactness when the air is expelled saving me much more (needed!) space in my backpack. I am 6ft 2″ and this was fine for me to use for several nights and provided a much better nights sleep than I would have had without it.
My main gripe is that they should really add the ‘self’ inflating to the product name, as it does require effort on the user’s behalf to inflate — sure this is quick (the 40s guide on the product image is optimistic unless you’re very fit), but for some users it could take much longer.
Overall, a good product, good value and one that I will continue using in any future camping trips for extra support.
I own a couple of similar pads to this one, all of which are “Hex Pocketed”, this one however is “Octo-Pocketed” meaning that each air pocket has 8 sides instead of the normal 6, with larger joins between the pockets.
The result of the different air pocket design means that there are less than in conventional “Hex Pockets” and it needs less air to inflate it. I had it fully inflated in a little over a minute, normally takes me around 2 minutes to inflate similar pads, so it really does inflate much sooner.
The nearest to a con that I can come up with for the design difference is that when you’re first lying down on this the larger 8 sided pockets and larger gaps between pockets are noticeable, It also lays weirdly with a kink between the raised pillow and the main body part. However when you are fully lying down and your weight is evenly supported you don’t notice and I slept absolutely fine.
Now for my real con… I slept on this on my kitchen floor to test it as it has a tiled floor. In the morning this still felt cool to the touch despite having my body heat on it all night, so I don’t think any of my warmth had been held in it and had likely been sapped into warming the tiles. This is still a great pad for sleeping comfort, but I would only dare use it in summer when backpacking and wouldn’t likely trust it even in Spring or Autumn and definitely NOT in winter as it simply doesn’t seem to offer anything much in the way of insulation.
At 30 quid I’d say it’s a little over priced for a pad that has no insulation against the cold ground, and would price point around 20-25 so keep an eye out for offers and vouchers as for ‘occasional’ summer single night backpacking trips this is fine for the odd warm night.

Overall this is a really nice sleeping pad, it’s miles better than sleeping on the bare ground for sure! The built in pumping mechanism is really cool & works well, and it is so quick and easy to deflate and pack up as well. I also like that it has snaps to attach multiple pads together. It seems nice and long, although it is a bit narrow. The pillow portion is on the flat side, which I prefer because I use a separate pillow anyway and the really puffy built in ones are uncomfortable for me. The material of this seems sturdy, but it is a bit noisy when you move around.
There’s not a lot to say really.
It packs up quite small and is reasonably comfortable.
It’s easy to inflate and looks like it will last a while if not abused.
A nice quality sleeping mat that comes rolled up into a canvas size. Colour chosen was green, which looked suitably quite dark and in keeping with serious outdoor activity. The sleeping mag itself looked well made, with sturdy materials, and integrals studs enabling multiple sleeping mats to be attached to each other to make a double bed, treble bed — the sky’s the limit!
Advertised as ‘self-inflating’ which it is in a way, but does not inflate itself. What you have is an integral foot-pump which enable the bed to be pumped up in less than 5 minutes. This worked effectively, and the labels attached to each valve point make it clear what to do and what not to do. The foot end is where your pump valve is which enables air to come in, with foot plugging this whilst pumping. At the head is the release valve to deflate your bed. The bed also comes with a puncture repair kit, to patch the bed should the material be holed.
Size wise appears fine, one of the accompanying photographs shows myself lying on the inflated sleeping mat — I’m 5 foot 10 inches, and there was sufficient room as well as being fairly comfortable.
As normal with inflatable products, deflation needs to be well done before attempting to pack back into supplied bag. Thankfully this is slightly bigger than usual, so as long as most air is out, the mat packs back quite well.
Overall, a nice compact sleeping mat that could be used for camping or as a spare indoor bed for occasional visitors.
We already have a Silent Night inflatable bed that my daughter uses for sleep-overs. I thought I’d give this a go as it packs away into a small bag and is easy to carry. Rightly enough it is significantly smaller and lighter than the other one. It inflates easily with repeated pressing with a hand or foot at the valve. It also deflates and packs up quickly. My 12 year old daughter was able to set it up quickly and pack it away again. It is, however, thin and lumpy and quite noisy when you move.
Pros: small, packable, light, easy to assemble
Cons: thin, not the most comfortable, noisy, value?
I’m really positively surprised – very good design. As you can see in the video you can inflate it in minute without carrying extra pump, everything you need in one small bag which which easily can be carried in backpack or be a spare mattress in caravan. After inflating tested it with my weight (100kg) and I have to say that this mattress is very comfortable I would without hesitation spend night on it. All air bubbles perfectly support a body. And now what is the best deflating, pack it back take around two minutes without a rush and after folding it back it fits included bag perfectly so you don’t have to fight to push it back to the bag. From me it’s a solid 5 stars as it will be definitely nice addition to my camping gear. Very good value for money. If you looking compact, comfortable, easy to inflate and deflate mattress you can’t go wrong with this one.
I think the Title description of the Amazon Advert for this Air Mat should be changed really, as it’s certainly NOT Self Inflating like it states? It’s only a small error, but it does promise something that this product cannot fulfil, so some customers could end up being mislead and disappointed! Apart from this, it’s actually a Decent Air Mat which has some really Good features, such as: Built-In Pump, 10cm Thick, 40D Nylon Material, Waterproof, Pillow Designed into the Shape, Abrasion and Tear Resistant etc – I also like the colour of this one, which is like a Dark Green colour, a bit like Army Green (a Blue option is also available). It’s pretty Comfortable to lie on and after using, it packs easily enough into the Stuff-Sack provided – I particularly like this, as with so many things these days (particularly sleeping mats and sleeping bags), they’re usually a nightmare trying to get them back into the Bags! The other good thing about this is it can be pop-fastened together with another Air Mat of the same Brand, to make a Double Air Bed out of two Singles – Another Great Design & Idea from the Manufacturer’s! Price wise, it’s selling for 29.99, but there’s currently a 6 voucher on the advert that you can deduct from this, which brings it down to a much more reasonable 23.99. Overall, I like it & am pleased with the purchase! Thank you.
