Ideally sized, for any glovebox or toolbox. I have used on several different applications. I wanted a tester that was quick and easy to use when I’m working on customers vehicles and this does the job perfectly. Would highly recommend. Don’t forget to watch the video so you can see it in action. Very good value for money.

This is dead-simple to use. Instructions provided here by prior reviewers are better than in the product description. I might recommend ignoring the CCA value written on your battery (sometimes written like ‘500 A (EN)’ = 500CCA), using the table in these product details instead.

VAG specify my battery at 280A/51AH so {… the table in these product details says} my target CCA = 435. This tester ‘measures’ my battery’s CCA is at 436 so my battery health is Good. That’s good enough for me.

My battery label declares CCA = 500, in which case my real CCA is still 436, so my battery health is 75%. That notwithstanding, this device still assesses battery health = Good. That too is good enough for me.

I’m very happy that it gives a good indication of battery health. I almost gave it 5* but feel the readings do vary. I think it is better than a multimeter. I’ve tried it on 4 cars and yes the state of health is fairly consistent (plus or minus around 15%) however the state of charge can vary much more, plus or minus around 30% within a couple of days.
Having said that I do feel it is very useful if you think your battery maybe needs changing, I did on one car (used mainly for short trips) and really it was just in a low state of charge and was still healthy – gives peace of mind.

With a low price I was sceptical, but I used it alongside an old school resisted meter, and achieved the same results, I tested it on a known bad battery. And received more information than I could get from the old meter, again same results from a new fully charged battery, it also helped me discover a battery which was starting to deteriorate, easy to use, easy to read, accurate, only thing you need to do is print off a conversion chart for ah, cca etc, so you can input the correct details for each test.

This device was perfect for testing the CCA rating of my car battery and surprisingly I discovered why the stop/start function wasn’t working on my car — the CCA had dropped even though the battery was starting the car from cold it was not sufficient for the stop start. Check required CCA for your car before replacing your old battery – this tool will help. Pity the previous owner didn’t use one!!

This tester gives a quick test of a lead acid battery’s state of health (SOH) based on its measured internal resistance measured in micoOhms and its rated cold cranking amps.
Whilst it gives a reading of the battery’s precentage charge this is not a realistic assessment of its (SOH)

Quick and simple to use – connect, select appropriate voltage and cycle through readings. Clear, easy to read display. Build quality appears reasonable. I purchased this to check a mower’s battery condition – easier to use than a multimeter (for me, at least) when checking cold cranking amps. Wish I’d bought this earlier as it would have saved me an unnecessary battery purchase. Now part of my regular service toolkit.

The chart on the Amazon product page for this item says my 75Ah car battery equates to a CCA of 550. Yet the Halfords webpage says my 75Ah battery has a CCA of 710. These figures are obviously quite different, so I don’t know which one to believe as it puts the SOH of my battery anywhere between 51 – 88%.
Furthermore, when I input either of these CCA figures and run the test, the device changes the CCA figure to about 515 which is less than both the suggested CCA figures mentioned above. I don’t know why it changes the CCA value, or even if it does the test using its own amended CCA figure. If anyone can shed any light on this then please comment.
Update a few days later: Okay, the supplier has confirmed that once the official CCA value is entered into the device and the test is started, the device then measures and displays what it thinks is the current CCA value of the battery. It would be nice if it said this on the instructions to avoid any confusion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersKingbolen BM550. This is a very easy to use battery tester. Just connect the unit to the battery using the crododile clips and it comes to life. You may need to convert the AH Value to CCA, see the photo attached.
The test results shows much detail. If the battery needs charging it will tell you. Definetly recommend for the price.
Have tested on 6V and 12V and all tests seem accurate. I will do more in depth test and post on youtube.
search for FXV300 to see more product videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kingbolen BM550 - Great product for the price. Easy to use.

This device is really easy to use even for me who hasn’t got a clue what I’m doing! You have to input some information which is usually on the battery itself (it was for mine) and then it gives you a detailed result and whether the battery is in good or poor health. It’s great value for money and so helpful to know whether the battery needs replacing yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really easy to use even if you're clueless like me!

We have two cars in our household and since lockdown we have had battery issues on both of them due to their lack of use. The cars still start ok but the stop start fails frequently and the motorised tailgate refuses to open or close. As a result i looked at purchasing new batteries for both vehicles. After researching the prices for an EFB and an AGM battery i was shocked to see the prices! As a result i decided to purchase this tester to actually check the health of the batteries to see if they indeed needed replacing. I charged both batteries first with a smart charger and then connected up the Topdon, unfortunately both batteries indicated that they needed replacing. One displayed a heath of 11% and the other 53%.

The device is super simple to use, it tests a wide variety of batteries including wet/lead acid/AGM/EFB. Once connected to the battery terminals you have to select some input data such as the type of battery and cold cranking amps, this information can normally always be found on the battery itself. Within a few seconds you get a detailed results screen indicating if the battery is in good or bad health along with some breakdown details (see my review pics). There are various other testing options available in the menu such as charging test, cranking amps and cold cranking amps tests

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant battery teste

I was looking for a tester that actually works by not only telling me the voltage but also the cold crank amps available (cca). I had suspected that my battery was starting to fail as my car was taking longer to start but I was unsure if this was due to alternator or battery performance.
For under 30 this is a great piece of kit and helped me diagnose my battery was failing .
Easy to use. You need to find out what the CCA of your battery is but most of them have a sticker on the battery with this information. .
Connect red to + and black to – and use arrows to find information you require.
    Would definitely recommend.
