Got this kit for my son who’s really interested in football but still a little average. So far it’s been really insightful, and has also helped identify various areas to improve with suggestions on how to go about it. He’s loving it at the moment.
Really easy to use and great for getting data for my son who is 8 years old so I can feedback to his coaches and also I can let him know what he needs to work o
Superb product. Provides detailed analytical results that truly focus on what he needs to work on. It’s changed the way he trains, and he’s improving quicker now than ever. Fantastic product.
I have two 9 year old boys who are 3 months in to using this and they love to see the impact their efforts have had on the app. It has motivated them to focus on at least two areas for improvement so far. Long may it continue!
I play football as a hobby, and I was looking at a way to make myself more statistic driven game-by-game.
It really does do what it says, and I think it does it pretty well. The problem is, as a hobbyist, I don’t really get as much as I thought I would out of seeing my stats progress.
I don’t need to get better, therefore I found eventually I didn’t really care for it and sold them away.
If you are looking to become better, and play at any sort of level, these really can do the trick!
This is a wearable product that fastens to football boots to track your foot movements.
The sensors are quite discreet and you don’t notice you are wearing them once they are on.
You have to download an app for the sensors to communicate with which then presents the data to you in an easy to understand format.
They are charged in a charging case and there is a little bag that you can keep all the bits together in.
For 200 the price is a bit steep! If you use them regularly then they become better value for money.
You can also collaborate with a team mate and turn the whole thing into a competition which is great for those that like competition!
I found the battery didn’t last quite as long as expected so it’s worth charging them after each use.
Overall, a decent product for those serious about their football!
Review from my husband:
This is a really nifty piece of kit especially if you’re a city fan like my stepson is. We got it for him so he could basically improve his game, I’m not gonna lie, it is really expensive and you’d better make sure it’s gonna be used before you part with hard-earned, but as I say, it’s for a fan of the game and a keen footy player. It comes with two neat little gizmos that attach to your boots when playing and they basically monitor all your foot movements and tell you where you doing well and where you fall off. In reality, it works very well when paired with the app which you need to install, everything has an app these days, doesn’t it? but these little sensors relay all your footballing activity back to the app and they score you which is pretty good and you can compare it with your teammate and discuss the results, eg strengths/weaknesses etc. If you play a lot of football they are invaluable as the telemetry really will show you progress and if actual city players use this then it’s actually quite a decent buy. It comes with a year’s subscription which is really nice considering how much the kit costs but it’s all very discreet and once on you don’t even notice it’s there. One bad point is the battery life isn’t great so make sure it’s always on charge if you’re using it a lot. Apart from that, it is a decent product. 4/5 just because the battery drains quite quickly.
American husband has picked up an appreciation for football and has joined the local football club, so this seemed like a fun thing for him to try.
You need to download an app, which is always annoying, but it’s useless without it unfortunately.
It can be worn indoors and outdoors, no matter the weather. I’m curious about whether it will work if and when it’s ever caked in mud so when those are the playing conditions, I’ll update this.
They arrive in a wee charging case – like wireless earbuds – and they need charging before first use. The left and right censors have a colour code on the back so you know which is which. One full charge will last about 10 hours, which is pretty good.
You get two straps: left and right feet, and they’re colour co-ordinated, too. They look like small harnesses basically, and you just clip the sensors to the inside of their respective straps then slip your feet into them.
The box also contains a small bag for keeping all your bits and pieces together which is a well-thought out extra.
So you need to download the app – a subscription is included – and then it will track data, like speed and agility.
Oh, here’s something cool, actually: if multiple people in the team have this, you can track each other’s results and turn it into a competition I can see that being super motivational – competing with your team-mates to see who is improving the most would be very helpful indeed.
So it’s a really fun thing for him to have, to see how he’s improving – but I think, really, it’s probably more intended for people who take their football really seriously. It doesn’t always measure what he’s doing so it feels a little unstable – for someone who will be playing a lot, that’s not a huge problem because playing-time means they will still get lots of data; husband plays for a couple of hours a week, so it’s less concentrated, and missing data is more of a problem.
But it’s still an excellent piece of wearable tech and if you’re even semi serious about football, it’s an excellent buy.
I have this CITYPLAY smart football tracker for boots by Playermaker with a large strap.
It arrived nicely boxed and presented with user guide.
Strap looks and feels well made, sturdy and durable, so should last for long. It has build-in battery which will need to be charged from time to time.
I must admit that the battery life isn’t the best and should be improved.
It is easy to fix to the shoes.
In order to see the performance I had to install Cityplay app on mobile phone what was easy and fast to do. An app is straightforward to navigate through.
It is connected to the strap via Bluetooth, connection was stable.
App helps to analyse the game. It shows also graphs to help to understand performance and find out weeknesses and strengths and what to improve.
Annual subscription is free with the tracker.
Would be an excellent gift idea for somone who likes to play football.
Excellent gadget, but a bit pricey and battery life should be improved.
So this can be a perfect present for someone who really likes football. And want to be more in-depth about it. And to use statistics to improve your game. As it will analyse your speed, passing, how you control the ball and etc.Which can be really useful if you are searching for a way to improve. As it will let you concentrate towards your weaknesses. As well you can get some tips and recommendations in the app for improving your game. Connecting the gadget is easy just need a Cityplay app smartphone and Bluetooth. And everything will connect easily. The app is not bad and user friendly. You can easily see your stats, and even create your player card where you can see your status improving etc. Like in a game.
The battery will need to be charged all the time. As it drains quite fast. My guess would be because it needs to record a lot of stuff maybe it’s just working hard. As well it’s a subscription system. You get an annual subscription for free with this tracker. So that’s quite good, especially considering the price.
Overall good gadget for kids to follow they’re stats while playing, as well as to see where improvements are needed.
Using them for nearly 18 months now. Both 1.0 and the latest 2.0 City Play version. That was the best purchase I could ever made for my 11 years old son to track unbiased progress of his development. Now 8 of his teammates have City Play as well.
