The camping mat comes with three patches in case of puncture and an easy-to-understand instruction sheet, complete with pictures. There is an elasticated band to help with packing it away in the included protective/carrying bag.
How to inflate:
The mat is very easy to inflate: at the foot of the mat is an inbuilt foot pump, which takes about two minutes to fully inflate. You just have to get used to where to press, so that you don’t close the valve or cover the air intake.
Comparing this mat with another similar one from a different manufacturer, this one is definitely much quicker to inflate, because the springiness of the pump means that it fills with air quickly as soon as you take your foot off the pump.
The mat has a single air chamber, so you cannot separately inflate the pillow to a lesser pressure or smaller size, it’s all connected.
There are clips along both edges if you need to join multiple mats together (the mat is wide enough only for one person), but since there is no standard about the position of these, don’t expect mats from different suppliers to be compatible, in fact, expect them not to be.
How to deflate and pack away:
When the second valve in the pillow part is opened the air very quickly exits, and you do not really have to squeeze out the air when packing away, if you start rolling from the foot (pump) end. The mat very easily fits into the bag even if there is still some air trapped in.
Overall evaluation:
Comfortable enough for camping on flat ground even if you sleep on your side. I haven’t tried it on uneven ground, with twigs, etc. under. It’s definitely better than just an old-school foam mat, but still not luxurious, if you’re not used to camping.
It could also serve as an emergency mattress at home when you have unexpected guests.
Overall, I have to say that I’m happy with the mat – it doesn’t currently get a lot of use, so it is good that it packs down very small when storing it.
The quality and price of camping mats can vary wildly and for me this is an excellent choice for the occasional camper who loves to get out on the road in the spring and summer months.
Covacure are becoming a recognised name in the camping space and this is not the first covacure item I’ve owned; I continue to be impressed but the quality and prices they are selling for.
Just to be clear, this is not a self inflating mat, as quite clearly, the the kinetic energy of my foot going up and down on the integral pump that it making it inflate. To do this, you need to follow the instructions, making sure the two valves (one at the foot and one at the pillow end ) are in the right place. Inflation only took a minute and was easy going so I’m I’m happy to go with that.
The mat is about 4 inches deep or thereabouts, and don’t forget you’ll have an extra half inch or so from your solid/roll-up thermal mat below ( also important to keep this in good condition and away from sharp sticks, stones etc).
I like the pillow area, which can either be used on its own, with jumpers/coats rolled under, or act as a second under layer of support if you’re using a camping pillow.
The mat comes with a stuff sack which is a nice touch, keeping everything neat and tidy and again protecting the mat from accidental damage. There are three little patches includes, just in case you do get a puncture.
One of my favourite things about it is there is a row of fasteners down the side allowing a pair of these to be converted into a double sleep mat/comfy festival hangout.
It’s a good bit of kit, especially for the advertised price, and one that I’m happy to add to the camping stash for when we go away.
Haven’t had a chance to actually sleep on this yet as have bought it for an upcoming festival. I have looked at it indoors and am happy. It was so simple to inflate. No need for a pump just 30 seconds to pump with my foot using the inbuilt pump. Super easy 🙂 the comfort ripples appear from nowhere much to my daughters amusement and make it more comfortable to lie on. Was easy to deflate and pack up and It packs super small into the bag which will make it easy for carrying. I have purchased COVACURE products a few times in the past and have never been disappointed. Quality and price spot on.
I was surprised by how easily it inflates using the built in pump, I was expecting a bit of a palaver but that didn’t happen. Secondly, the built in pillow is a nice touch and is very comfortable. Equally as important was how easy it is to deflate, I had it back in the stuff sack in no time.
This is not a mat for winter wild camping but the price reflects that, instead it’s a fun, useful addition to the beach bag or for back garden use, glad I bought it.
Its extremely comfortable and very quick and easy in inflate.
I slept well camping for the first time ever!
I have also taken it out on days out and to festivals to sit on, as its easy to carry around and very comfortable.
This is an excellent air bed for the price.
I definitely recommend buying this for all summer outings and camping fun!

I now own a few items from this company, and I am always impressed by the quality of their products. Within a minute I had blown up the mattress and was really impressed. It is actually really comfy and you are quite high above the ground. You would look forward to sleeping on this after a long hike and get a good nights sleep. It’s also really light and compact so ideal for travelling.
