Review for Detail Sander 200W 12500RPM 1.6A Mouse Sander Corded Electric Detail Grinding Machine with Dust Collection, 20PCS Sandpapers, All Inclusive Rubber Handle, for Sanding, Polishing Wood, DIY Decoration

I have many woodworking tools including several sander types. This being a detail sander which if you need to do lots of detail sanding then this is a useful tool to have due to its smaller size and profile. I have several tools to perform this type of sanding so don’t feel the need to have a detail sander. Being an inexpensive corded model and being a brushed motor makes this less refined compared to some of the tools I use. Comes with 20 pieces of sandpaper of various grades, attaching to the tool using hook and loop system. The sander has an attachable dust box at the rear for safe collection of saw dust. Overall whilst a capable enough corded detail sander, for me it’s less of an essential and more of an occasional use tool for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOn unboxing this compact detail sander the first thing you notice is that it feels very solidly built, That’s generally a good sign in a power tool.

It comes with a good and practical range of graded papers and is ready to go right out of the box.
It is designed to be held from the top and the front but more on the ergonomics later.

It has a great feature of having a dust box built in that will elevate most of the dust by sucking it up through the footplate of the sander.

Having tried it on pine and gesso surfaces so far I can happily say it does it’s job very well.
Especially at this very reasonable price.

And now for the ergonomics and my only slight niggle for this tool.
I have very medium sized hands for a man and it’s a little too big for long term comfort without holding it in such a way that my fingers cover the exhaust vents on the machine and when I hold it from the front I don’t cover the vents but the unit is still a bit too large for total comfort.

I did not want to be too harsh because it is a great tool but beware unless you have quite largw hands it’s not a tool you will be comfortable using all day on a long job without a lot of repositioning of hands or breaks. It’s not a deal breaker for me but it is worth noting seeing as you tend to use these tools for years and so comfort is a factor in your choice.

I also got my flatmate to try it out and she has much smaller hands than mine but is no stranger to power tools. In her opinion it was too large for a ladies hands in both orientations and she felt it did not offer her as much control as her own smaller sander does. So worth bearing in mind but again not necessarily a deal breaker.

That being said I look forward to using this to finish the stretchers I build for my painting canvases as it will make short work of that job.

As a 70 plus lady I am sanding down my garden chairs in preparation for vanishing they were in dreadful state but have come up lovely with this little inexpensive sander so pleased with it. I would definitely recommend it.
