If I’m honest I’d never heard of this device until I saw it ‘in the background’ of a YouTube video that I was watching and liked the look of it enough to search for it online before deciding to buy it on Amazon. When it first arrived I was impressed with the packaging then even more taken with how techy it looked but then I suddenly thought to myself… ‘what in earth do I actually use it for?’ Having downloaded the app and connected it to my Wi-Fi network (it also has a Bluetooth option), I started to check out various options available and, whilst it did take a bit of trial and error, I was able to configure it to do all sorts of things including displaying videos and photos, custom clocks, weather widgets, ocial media stats, RSS feecs and various others (see video and photos). The device itself has led lights which can be configured in various modes to compliment the look and it also has a microphone that can be used for numerous purposes such as sound level monitoring. It does have to be plugged into the mains to work though. To tell the truth it was more useful than I initially thought it was going to be but still more of a talking point than a must have gadget if I’m honest! Do not regret buying it nonetheless.
sooo this was a xmas present to myself !! it was on offer 120 its a cool thing !!!
the ony thing i dont like was the original price 149 <- thats too much for what it is !! also in the sale it was on their official site for 108!! plus the app could be a bit better!! , that being said , I love it !! 🙂
This is pretty cool its smaller than I expected but my fault for not reading the description. It has 5 panels that can display seperate little ections or they can be joined together – you can use precreated art/items or create your own – for the pre-created u can edit them and add your own images etc. I have mine set to 5 different tickets – the first is the weather, 2nd is Youtube channel subscribers and views, 3rd is date/time and currency exchange rates for US $ and Euros, 4th is a picture of me and partner and a countdown to our anniversary and 5th is a bnch of different images related to travel and a count down til our next holiday.
Couple f minor irritations with it:
1. price – its really expensive
2. the picture quality is fairly low not a surprise as its designed for pixel art rather thn photos
3. when it restarts you have to reconnect the display in the app it doesnt automatically go to the last display
This digital display piece comes in smart packaging so this will make a very handsome gift. It’s generally easy to set up but it does require a lot of fiddling about and patience. Once it’s set up it looks very cool and interesting. I like the idea of it but I do wish there were a much wider variety of things you could have displayed on the screens. I am not interested in images etc and wish there were more informative displays you could set up.
I really like this pixel art display. There are five slots that can be customised in any way I want. I first had to download an app and create an account to link the display. There are several community-built themes that can be applied. There are also different ways to join separate displays together. I use mine to display the weather, a pixel art, F1 standings, and the time. It looks so nice and adds a nice vibe to my gaming area.
The only downside I would highlight is the picture quality. I wish the displays had better pixel density and clearer outlook. Apart from that, this is a lovely digital decoration to have around.
This perhaps belongs in the category of ‘the gadget for someone who has everything’. It’s a bright, pretty, customisable, desktop display that probably benefits most from being messed about with.
The Times Gate came beautifully packaged: in a manufacturer gift bag, inside which the device (housed in a hard-sided storage/carry case) was cellophane-wrapped. The carry case is a well made plastic casing, with foam lining that fits the device perfectly. The device itself is well made – in chunky, robust plastic, with metal trim elements and silicone physical buttons on top. A USB-C cable and little booklet are included in the case.
Basic setup is fairly straightforward – the Times Gate is preprogrammed to walk you through installation, from QR code software links through connecting to Bluetooth/Wifi, and updates.
From the word ‘go’ you get a bright, vibrant 5 panel display, surrounded by colour changing lights on both the sides and back, which create an impressive display. There are masses of options for customising your display, including data such as time, temperature, weather, and stocks; social media feeds; music; and both still and animated graphics. For the latter, you can either download other people’s creations, or make your own using the Divioom App. This is a desktop toy that benefits from being played with, whether to adapt and change as the mood takes you or to spend the time designing your own images.
Cute, fun, and an intriguing combination of space age and old school – but quite expensive for such an unashamed gadget.
Stepping into my workspace each day, the vibrant allure of this decorative piece greets me. Its five screens, each shimmering with pixel art, lend a certain charm to my gaming setup. Whether it’s the playful ambience the lights bring or the ease with which it presents real-time updates, this device seamlessly melds form and function. Social media statistics, stock updates, or simply a quirky pixel art — it’s a visual treat, no matter the content. The WiFi connectivity is smooth, and configuring each screen through the app feels intuitive. While it’s primarily a decorative addition to my desk, it’s the real-time updates that keep me coming back, making it more than just a pretty faceonmytable.
This gadget is really cool and I think it’s worth the high price. For now I’ve been using it as a clock and it works really well.
The build quality is good, and it looks amazing on my desk. You can personalise it in so many different ways, so anyone can find a setup they like.
Setting it up didn’t take long and it’s actually quite fun. Perhaps is a bit expensive, but I think it’s an amazing gift for anyone into tech gadgets.
I would recommend it to anyone!
This is a cool gadget. It arrives in a very smart presentation box and would make a great gift for any gadget fan.
This comprises of 5 128 x128 screens. You can use a variety of widgets and appsto display anything from the time to low res images.
It is cool and retro futuristic. It’s made to a good standard, solid and looks like it will last a while.
Good quality Recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful
This is the oddest thing I’ve played with for a long time.
The unit is of the highest quality, well made and well thought out, it all comes in a quality presentation box and makes an awesome present.
It is actually 5 units within the 1 unit. Each unit can display a variety of information, and certain animations can utilise all 5 units.
While the unit could display absolutely anything, the range of application does appear somewhat limited, there are plenty clocks, but with 5 units, you need something different on the other 4. So its weather, perhaps a stock ticker, a bit of pixel art, etc.
Thinking out loud, this is good now, but with a bigger range of display options, this could be awesome.
I look at this as one of those want, not need, gadgets. It’s actually very cool and looks pretty sweet on the desk. Pretty much everyone that’s seen it wants one before they know what it does lol. Beyond the “cool” gadget that it is though, it’s actually very useful to display the time and currency information for example. You can also create custom screens using the app, but I’ve not got quite got the hang of that just yet – need more time.
The unit itself is very good quality and really nicely finished. The screens are excellent quality and clear, with that retro pixel vibe.
It’s definitely up there on the “cool” stuff to have on your desk list though – very cool!
Where do I start with this thing? I’ve never seen anything like it, but I absolutely love it.
My girlfriend describes is five Apple Watches in a row and essentially that’s pretty much what it is, but for your desk?
Initially, I wasn’t quite sure whether or not I would use the various different clocks and stocks and shares and information tabs that are on there, but then I discovered the community are and the whole thing changed for me. People have created pixel art versions of anything you can imagine, and you can display five different things on the screens and it fits perfectly in my gaming room.
It’s one of those things that you don’t really need, but it’s a nice to have and it really ties in all the anime themes that I’ve got going on with my Wallpapers, my PC build and my figures in the corner. People have spent so much time making really high quality and even moving GIF style pixel art that just looks fantastic.
The app isn’t the best and it’s quite difficult to get your head around, but once you’ve worked it out it’s not too bad to change things, but I wouldn’t call it an intuitive app by any stretch. For example, you can set an auto off timer and you have to choose the times in which you would like it to come on and off. So one would assume that you selected the on time at the beginning and the off time at the end. However, because this is an off timer, you’re turning off the off to make it go on, and that needs to be the second and the off is the beginning. It’s very confusing! Again the once it’s set up it’s done and now mine switches on at 5:00 PM and off at midnight.
One thing I really wish this had was Alexa support, with it being a Wi-Fi enabled device there would be a skill that you can added, however the only Divoom one that I could find was for something different and it didn’t work with this.
Overall, I love this thing. It’s completely pointless for me, but it looks great in my room. It just sits there, barely takes up any space and looks cool when it kicks in. They also seem to make some really cool of the product, so I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for them.
Can say its a super pixel art informative display.
Super for home or party use.
Works via wifi and quite easy to use it.
Have 5 full colour IPS screens and RGB backlighting.
Can easily controll it via downloaded app.
Price for it is super I think.
So surely can recommend it to all.
I think the packaging here is far more unique than the other items I receive, it comes with a wide plastic suitcase and it’s easy to open, pick it up and turn on the display right away. It feels premium, glossy and it’s fascinating to look at. While I struggled a bit to set up the display with an app they have, unfortunately, you’re forced to make an account in order to connect the display from your phone and I prefer to connect the display from my phone as a guest instead.
Although, there’s a bright and great side of using this app. The animated pixel art they offer you is made by the community and you can get a wide range of them by choosing one of them. You can put anything like a clock in different styles to choose from, pixel art gallery, visualisers in different styles as well and so much more. The rainbow lighting is also customisable as well!
Overall, I really like this pixel art display, it’s really fun to use and there’s a wide range of customisation you can play around with.
The Times Gate clock works quite well, it wasn’t too complicated to set up and the things like the sound bars and the clock work accurately, and the rgb lights work well too.
The app doesn’t have many decent looking options for things to put on the display but it gives you the option to create your own pixel animations and thing which is quite cool. I liked the neon stuff and looks very nice as well.
I like the fact this Pixel Art Display comes in a rugged case and a gift bag. Build quality is good rather than great but any initial concerns evaporated when it was plugged in as it looks fantastic once lit up. A QR code is helpfully displayed on one of the screen so you don’t have a problem finding the app, however setting up stalled for me when it came to the WiFi connection as it won’t connect to my network as it stands and I can’t change it even if I knew how as it too unstable.
The app provides a wealth of personalisation options and it is fun to explore the available art and make some of your own even if it is just a doodle or two. A clock and other real time information is available. It looks incredible lit up at night, but the WiFi requirements baffled me and my poor set up. It is a work in progress for me and I hope to be able to provide an update once I have had my WiFi attended to.
This is an awesome gift idea for those who love a bit of futuristic style tech. It maybe can’t send you back to the future but what is essentially a smart clock with WiFi connectivity that enables you to keep an eye on our youtube channels, the stock market, weather.
Basically you can customise it and it has cool LEDs. My other half drooled
