After turning on the tap and watching the hose expand like a snake, the multiple spray options are really useful. Got the extra long length and it reaches everywhere I need it to. You do need to drain it for it to shrink back to size for easy storage.
Watering my Garden plants, even reaching into my Greenhouse . Great bit of kit ? But ! It does actually have a leak in the hose about three metres from the end ? Not too serious it’s like a Pinprick ,but unable to locate under the outside sheathing !
and I have used it a few times now ,so would not be able to send back for a replacement ? Even if I did ,would a New one be leaking too ?
This seems to be a good hosepipe, although only time will tell if it lasts well. The hosepipe attached securely to an outside tap and the various brass attachments are well built. The relatively lightweight pipe itself expands impressively when the tap is opened. In all, good value for money, so far.
This hose is a bit cumbersome due to its length, but its expandability is impressive. It stretches considerably when water flows through, making it easier to reach distant corners of the garden. Retraction is also smooth, although it can be a bit forceful at times. The spray nozzle offers various settings, from a gentle mist to a powerful jet, catering to different watering needs.
We needed a new house for the garden so we ordered this one.
It’s all comes in a surprisingly small box.
Inn at the box you get the hose comma some instructions various fittings for various different taps.
I got it connected to my outdoor tab in just a few minutes following the instructions.
I then attached the hose down that you get with it and made sure this was working by clicking through all the options for different water effects, you do this by just rotating the gun head.
I then turned to tap on and was amazed to see how much this hose grooves, at first I didn’t think it was very long but then I saw had it worked and I would say it is a good 100 feet.
The fittings are like an alloy type and are okay but seem a little bit brittle, I especially am not sure about some of the ways that the actual hose are built into the hose fittings. If you pull them quite hard to decide you can see that there is a lot of force that’s going on around the area so I’m really not sure how long this will last.
On one of the fittings there is a nice little stop tap which I thought was quite a nice touch.
The only thing I would say with this is be careful after you turn the water off because there is a lot of pressure left in the hose and if you take the hose off the tap then it just explodes everywhere, so my advice is to make sure that you use up the water that is left in the hose after you switch off the tap.
Overall I think this hose is very good at what it does I am just not sure how long it will last hence I will give this four stars.
Okay, I was not expecting much from this, and when it arrived in its smallish box I thought that was a bad sign. Opening the box though and getting the hose out soon had my mind changed.
The braided pipe feels strong and comfortable in my hands. The pipe bends and responds to changing direction and being pulled around going where I want it. The previous one was stiff, stubborn and just wanted to coil up, and is getting shorter by the day as it keeps springing leeks as the plastic has aged.
The hose comes with brass fittings already attached. One end connected directly to my current tap fitting while the other, which has a tap lever, has a threaded connecter which the provided single handed operated head attached directly too. There was a bunch of adapters included but I didn’t need these at this time.
The water head is operated via a lever. It has a number of different ways to spread the water, such as a single jet (dot), a line, a light gentle spay, heavy rain, etc. selected by twisting the head.
It comes with a wide plastic hook for wall mounting, but I uncoiled the older pipe on a wall mounted barrel and coiled this in its place.
Unlike the old one, this one will not be as simple to shorten or repair, but hopefully it will not need maintenance; only time will tell.
Update: the hose continues to perform well, but coiled up on roller has issues as the pipe extends with the water pressure. This means that when coiled up lengths extend and drop down and make it impossible to uncoil. To recover let all of the water out of the pipe. I’m considering using the provided hook in stead.
Firstly I’ve only been using this for a short time. This review will be updated should I have any problems longer term.
Otherwise this seems like a very good expandable hose – the supplied fittings are very good quality ‘brass’ and I really appreciate that the manufacturer has included a range of possible options to securely attach the hose to the outside tap.
As with a lot of Chinese imports the instructions are pretty bad – I’d have thought running the document through a spell checker would be easy enough even on a low effort basis, but apparently not!
Thankfully with something as simple as a hose, clearly written instructions aren’t really necessary – though it is important to note that the manufacturer warns not to use the hose for drinking water.
Now while most people aren’t going to drink out of a hose, you might fill a paddling pool with it for little children, and they might well swallow some water, as kids do. I also wouldn’t recommend using this hose to fill ponds either – some of the chemicals used in plastics manufacture are particularly nasty for aquatic life. It might be OK after a few months of use, when the nasties have been washed away, but I wouldn’t take the chance personally.
That said, for plain old watering the garden, this is convenient and effective, and – so far – free from annoying leaks and dribbles.
