How can I tell if the calibration is correct?
Check whether the final calibration picture has significant distortion. If not, the calibration can be completed.
Can I install the camera on the bottom of the TV?
The camera needs to be installed at the top center of the TV so that it can position every foam sticker for better calibration and convenient colour-picking.
How do I reinforce the LED strip light and camera?
Press firmly when sticking the strip light and use the provided cable clips to reinforce. The extra 3M stickers can be attached to the counterweight’s silicone grip for additional attachment strength.
Do I have to connect the tv light with Wi-Fi to match and react with the tv screen?
You need to connect the tv led light to 2.4G Wi-Fi first and then use the light with “Video Mode.” 5G is not supported.

It’s brilliant device. Does everything brilliantly, but I had to remove the camera as I couldn’t get used to it. So now it just standard lighting through the app, although I can still use the music version. Great standard LED lighting.
Really like these LED lights. They look great, however the white balance and saturation settings for me someone who has grown with technology are not easy to use. Sometimes the colours match and sometimes don’t. But they do work very well and if you can figure out the settings.
I have a tv with philips ambilight built in and I love it !it’s only 3 sided but makes watching tv more immersion.
A philips tv was not an option for a room in my new extension so I went for this kit hoping it would be the same.
Set up was easy, sticks really well to the back of the tv ,links with the app ok,calibration OK.
Lots of modes in the app but I have just set it to follow video( like the philips) but even with 4 sides it is not as good.
In fact I’m totally underwhelmed by it ! Not as bright as the philips, slower to respond and very little graduation to the light strip it seems to display the same colour all the way round the tv .
Watching football on the philips is miles better, green on the sides for the pitch then a different colour for the top ( ie crowd)
The govee is green all round
Over all disappointed
After reading the other reviews I was prepared to be a little disappointed but how wrong I was.
Set up was straightforward (follow the video when you download the app not the paperwork) and take care to do the screen sync with the lights on or during the day.
Performance is great, fast colour changes real time, no lag. Have set on 47% and if seems to be perfect and not too bright or overpowering.
The camera arm has soon become un noticeable it’s like it’s always been part of the tv.
Great purchase made even better by the lighting deal price.
My son bought this first and I helped to set it up which is really easy btw. The only tricky bit I found was calibrating the camera using the orange squares but it turned out I was over complicating it as it was already pretty much in the right place. I’ve got ours set to movie/video mode which changes the backlighting to match the screen. You can see this on my video. Unfortunately because of the design of our LG Tv stand I can’t make use of the bottom light strip but it still looks amazing.
Does take a little work to set up, and remember to have the TV on to when calibrating but so worthwhile. The colours are crisp and clear and colour changes are seamless. There are a myriad of options and I am still working out my favourites. Films and music are very much enhanced. Will update if I have more to say but after initial setup and film and music watching it’s a definite “buy” from me.
Camera not sticking too well on TV (perhaps it is my TV but as far as am awaremost Smart TV’s are basically same). colour on wall not matching perfectly no matter what settings I try (even contacted Govee for help and their suggestions did not make any difference). For the most part it is a good idea and adds a nice colourful area on wall behind TV just a shame certain colours not matching colour on scree
So easy to install and use. The instructions and online videos are very easy to use. The brightness can go quite hight but I tend to leaving on 50%, seems to give the best light coverage without looking too silly.
Colours are incredible, a whole suite of options to play with. Overall very happy with the purchase.
1. Install the LED strip close to the edge of the TV to get maximum radiant output. Unless you have people sitting in the cheap seats, the ones at the extreme angle they may see the strip.
2. You don’t notice the camera after a while, similar to iphone notch.
3. Don’t use the orange foams, use the govee calibration video on YouTube.
4. Calibrate, calibrate and then calibrate, I did it at night time.
5. Fitted on a 65 inch C3, the bottom bit was a bit tricky at it is a box so thr led has less to stick to.
6. It would have been good if the lads were angled to get more light coming out.
What shall I get to accompany this?
Functionality is top for this product, easy installation and sincronization with the camera and TV, even dances with the sound of the TV. The only bad point would it be the joints between strips, due to the strip lenght that should fit TV’s between 50′ and 60′ inches, the routing of the lights will be crutial to get the most of the light show and to keep the self adhesive strip attached to the back of the TV (Make sure you give a good wipe before attaching the lights), in the package comes 10 plastic self adhesive retainer clips to increase the retention of the strip to the back of the tv, but unfortunately some of them didn’t last more than 2 weeks before falling off. Excellent product in overall but need to give a better bonding adhesive for the retainer clips.
I’m really loving my Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite so far having had it a few weeks now. Reasonably straight forward to set up on a 55″ TV. This makes me wish I’d bought a TV with the feature built in from the outset. The backlight is very quick to react to on screen changes that for the vast majority of the time, I don’t notice lag. This is a very small amount, but not enough to diminish the product value as it’s really only evident with sudden changes in overall lighting colour areas.
The few minor niggles I’ve had so far are: the excess cables linking the strips needed to be ‘curled’ and restrained by the adhesive tabs supplied. Unfortunately, the back of the TV where they need to be stuck is curved and the tabs are straight plastic, so 2 have already popped off as they didn’t have enough surface area to adhere to. Not a big problem as the cables have remained in the looped state and are largely hidden. Perhaps a 3M backed ‘velcro’-like strips could be better than the plastic tabs supplied. I’ll be trying to source something of that manner to use. The adhesive for the LED strips themselves works well, soft 3M tape backing which sticks really well.
I’ve had 2 colour and lighting issues. The first is that white screen area sometimes triggers a red LED backlight response rather than white, not sure why but seems to be affected by the brightness setting level of the LED strips. The second issue is also related to the overall brightness setting of the LED strips. If I have the brightness over 47%, then even when the TV is completely black. the white LED in the backlight strips remains dimly lit, not very bright by any means, but still lit which spoils the immersion in the show or movie playing as it serves to highlight the screen edges and obviously in a very dark room, is quite visible. Setting the brightness level at or below 47% removes both this issue and largely corrects the red LED instead of white issue.
Overall, I still really like the product. I wish I could increase the brightness beyond the 47% value as this would be great but even setting to 47% makes the purchase worthwhile.
