Gave an old laptop a speed boost. Surprised how much it helped. Mounted it initially in a external case, copied across an iso and then mounted into the laptop proper.

With storage devices, there are essentially two questions: 1. does it work as advertised? and 2. Is it reliable?
The answer to the first question is a big yes. It installed fine and is working well. I haven’t run benchmarks on it but it seems fast enough. As for the second question, it’s far too early to tell. Come back in five years…

Nice little SSD this for the price. Bought this to replace the OEM SSD inside my laptop and this has double the capacity. Good read and wright speeds for day to day and light work use.

This basic USB to hard drive adapter is compact and lightweight, making it highly portable. The build quality is generally decent for the price, whicj seems to be made from durable plastic. It includes a USB connector on one end and SATA connector on the other end to support Solid State Drives.

Most of these adapters are compatible with 2.5″ and 3.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs, and this is adapter is no exception. These are plug and play straight out of the box, usuall work with both Windows and Mac operating systems without requiring additional drivers, I’m using WINDOWS 11 as no addition drivers for comparison.

As mentioned above these adapters are plug-and-play, meaning they can be used right out of the box without any complicated setup. Simply connect the hard drive to the adapter, plug the USB into your computer, and the drive should be recognized immediately.

In terms of performance, it’s generally good for standard data transfer tasks. USB 3.0 models offer faster transfer speeds compared to USB 2.0 models, making them suitable for larger file transfers and backups. I havnt got EXACT numbers to compare it, with that said, this adapter was used for one purpose…to copy one operating system, HDD, to an SSD…which took around 1h.15ish

Lastly, this adapter provides you with a small but useful LED indicator for power and activity. This is incredibly useful to your eye, in the event that you may need tronleshooting, Light ON would indicate its not a problem with the adapter, light OFF would inidicate that it could be, with that said, use common sense. This can be useful depending on your specific needs

    **Pros:**
    – Affordable and readily available.
    – Easy to use with plug-and-play functionality.
    – Supports a variety of hard drives (SATA, SSD).
    – Portable and lightweight.

    **Cons:**
    – Build quality may vary, you pay for what you get.

    Conclusion
A simple USB to hard drive adapter is an essential tool for anyone needing to access data from old hard drives or performing occasional backups. It offers a cost-effective and convenient solution, though it may not match the performance of more advanced docking stations or enclosures.

I bought this drive to use in an external usb enclosure so that I can use it as a backup drive for my laptop. No problems installing it and it works as it should. Other reviewers say that it isn’t the fastest drive but it is more than adequate for my purposes. Packaging is a bit basic but it is not a problem once the drive is installed the packaging goes in the bin. Overall a good SSD at a reasonable price.

I recently installed this into my aging laptop, replacing the existing existing hard drive. It works flawlessly and has speeded up opening and loading programs to almost instant.
I made a copy of my system files etc and transferred everything over to the new SSD with ease
Firing up my laptop used to take an eternity, but is now ready to use from booting up in around 30 seconds.
I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Not quite sure why there’s a “For Gaming” rating category, so I’ve left it blank. It’s a no nonsense budget drive that will suit most computing needs, not just gaming. I’ve fitted a few of these to Laptops as a replacement for clunky slow mechanical drives and the difference is amazing. No cloning software included like there is with more expensive drives, but there are a few free options available on the internet including the open source program ‘clonezilla’

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWasn’t sure if this was going to work for my old HP laptop so thought I’d give it a try.

Amazon prime, arrived next day as normal. Delivery person was trying to post it through the letterbox but I got there before they did. Assuming it would have survived the drop from letterbox to floor despite no padded packaging. However easy to install once you’ve dismantled the poor plastic HP build quality (sticker side up on the SSD for my laptop).

Price was cheap and cheerful and does the job. I haven’t tried benchmarking it but after transferring the files across my speed from on to loading windows and it being usable went from 6 mins to around 50seconds. Loads fast each time and usable the moment it’s loaded. Saved m
Binning the laptop or throwing it against a wall

This was bought to replace a 2Tb spinning hdd in a Freesat 4K recorder. The oem hard drives only last 2 years and then pack up. This was a straight replacement. No formatting or partitioning necessary. Machine’s gui seems to run faster as it spends less time reading
the drive. Recording playback is buttery as well. All good for that use. I would NOT trust this in PC – likely to fail without warning. Stick to Crucial etc for that use.

My 10 year old laptop hard disk(256GB mSATA) failed so I needed an equivalent replacement and purchased this like-for-like replacement Integral drive.
I am happy with this replacement drive.

This is how I installed this drive:
Having found the relevant star bit to remove the 10 small screws around the base of my laptop, I carefully removed the base then I located the old hard disk and removed the single cross head screw holding the drive in-place.
Only at this point did I order this replacement drive whilst I was 100% sure that my existing drive was mSATA as there are different drive sizes and formats.
Installation of the new disk was simply the reverse of the removal.
I did not have any operating system backup, just the data files backed up onto a USB flash drive but I was able to go to Microsoft and found a support article, “Reinstall windows 10 after hard drive failure and replacement.”
With the help of another blank USB flash drive and the help article above I was able to re-install Windows 10 onto the old laptop and the laptop was back up and running in about an hour.
I did not have to format the new Integral mSATA drive drive before use and in Windows the drive reports the capacity that I would expect and seems to work as fast as the previous one.
Now to recover the important data files that I have backed up previously and re-install the apps.
