I’ve been using the same file since 2019 and it’s still yet to show any signs of wear and tear! I’ve since bought more so I can have one handy in my handbag and for travel, also including a handy one for the opposite end of the house for nail snag/break emergencies! I am 100% not someone who is groomed to the nth degree, my nails are shortish and natural, but everyone needs a nail file to prevent nail based injuries and look at least smartish, so as someone who’s not that into looks I never felt that investing in anything like nail files was worth it, but I have found after trying some cheaper options there really is a lot to be said about the quality of these files, the grain is finer than cheap files so you get much smoother results, with less effort. To clean you can rinse them under the tap, or tap the file gently on a forgiving surface like (in my case) a cork mat, and there’s no concern about it rusting or affecting the performance of the file.
I don’t know how they would perform on nail extensions, but I can confirm that for natural nails, they have been the better glass files out of a lot of cheaper brands and I have recommended them to family and friends, some of whom borrowed mine and been impressed with the smoothness and efficiency. I’m glad they come with a hard case as well, it’s not the most sturdy case but it works well at keeping my files safe when not in use, and conveniently it has a hole in the bottom so any nail dust remnants can be expelled instead of building up inside. They last well, look nice and do the job required exactly as I need them to so I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another when the time (and price) is right!
