There’s a bunch of options for non-OEM Apple Pencil style devices. This one is similar to other ones you’ll see, but for a fair bit more money. This pencil looks and works great. Doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. No issues getting all of the button/tilt features working. Great option at a very competitive price!

Overall, the Metapen Pencil D1 exceeds expectations with its blend of advanced features, compatibility across multiple iPad models, ergonomic design, and reliable performance. Whether you’re a professional artist, student, or casual user, this stylus enhances the iPad experience with precision and ease.
This iPad pen is wider than the usual Epens, it charges in no time but I don’t feel it lasts long enough for what I use it for, it seems to be on charge a lot of the time, luckily it doesn’t take long to charge.
It’s a nicely constructed pen that’s nice to hold, I like the design too.
You get extra nibs with this too.
This is a push button switch on type, it also switches itself off if not in use.
This stylus is a good choice if you use a tablet for handwritten notes. The unique shape is surprisingly comfortable to grip even after long time use.
The pen charges quickly and has a long battery life. The writing feels natural and the palm rejection is a good feature.
After having used this stylus with my iPad for several months, I can confidently share my findings. The design really does favor prolonged usage. I often spend several hours sketching and have found the unique shape of the grip significantly reduces the fatigue I used to experience with other styluses. It’s not perfect, however. The multi-function button is handy but I found myself occasionally pressing it accidentally, which disrupted my flow a bit. It’s a minor gripe, but noticeable in day-to-day use.
The Metapen Pencil D1 for Apple iPad offers a streamlined yet highly functional design, providing precise stylus input for a range of iPad models. With its quick button and ergonomic design, it enhances usability and comfort during use. Tilt sensitivity further enhances its versatility, allowing for nuanced drawing and writing. Compatible with various iPad models, including iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Mini, it offers broad compatibility for different user needs. Additionally, its white color scheme lends it a clean and understated appearance, adding a touch of elegance to your digital workspace. Overall, the Metapen Pencil D1 combines simplicity with functionality, making it a reliable tool for digital note-taking, drawing, and more.
A pretty in pink pencil, compatible with almost all iPad models.
It has a one press switch on button and a long press to switch it off.
It paired with my iPad straight out of the box, there was no need to enter the settings app and go through a lengthy process.
It has a slightly thicker shape than other pencils and is bevelled towards the nib which makes it very comfortable to hold and write with. I find it doesn’t slide between the fingers.
It charges within just a few minutes and a full charged will last around 100 hours.
It is not magnetic and so won’t attach itself to the iPad.
It has a fine nib and good for writing and drawing.
When using a painting app the pencil nib can be tilted to achieve shading, shadow and thicker strokes.
This is a very good alternative pencil to the branded models and at a much more affordable price.
This is a nice pencil for an iPad. There’s nothing particularly special or revolutionary, it does exactly what I expect it to in the way I expect it to, though it has to be said, it does it well.
It was quick and easy to set up, and I do like that it feels more like a pen than a pencil – that’s probably something to do with the texture of the device – it feels a bit like a gel pen and is comfortable to hold. I like that it comes with different tips, but I’m not keen on the colour – pink just doesn’t cut it for me.
It feels very natural to hold and use, it’s the closest I’ve found to a real pen or pencil. It’s lightweight and well-balanced so I think I could use it for extended periods without feeling uncomfortable. Comes with a short charging cable – I’d have liked something a bit longer, but that’s a minor quibble.
At 36.99 (as at 22 April 2024) I think it’s a little pricey compared to similar products, however it’s still half the price of a genuine Apple pencil, so it’s probably decent value, if you can get over the baby pink colour.
Although this stylus does not offer touch sensitivity, it does have tilt sensitivity which means that in compatible drawing apps (eg Sketch –see accompanying video) tilting it will broaden the stoke, change the texture, or both. It’s probably not going to attract professional illustrators, but for casual artists it will probably be adequate.
Unlike other styluses, this one IS controlled via Bluetooth, just like the genuine Pencil. To pair it with your iPad, press the power button, enter the Bluetooth settings on your iPad, and select Other Devices. Simple and quick.
The power button, if rapidly pressed twice, will return you to the home screen on your ipad. Personally, I have no use for this feature, but it’s there is you need it.
The device is comfortable to hold thanks to its gentle curves and the rubbery grip, which help prevent the stylus slipping, a problem I have had with other, cheaper, pencils.
Great product. recommended.
After trying out the Metapen Pencil D1, I found it quite comfy to hold with its unique shape and non-slip grip. The buttons are handy for shortcuts, and the Bluetooth pairing was simple. Writing and drawing felt smooth and precise, almost like using a real pencil! Charging is super quick, and the tips seem durable. I appreciated the tilt-sensitive feature and palm rejection, though I wish it had magnetic adsorption. Just make sure your iPad model is compatible before buying. Overall, a decent stylus .
I love this pen as it gives a lot more accurate feel than many fixed stylus pens when working with an iPad or touch screen computer it makes it easy to draw outlines for presentations or even to work on photoshop or original designs alongside a graphics tablet. The child’s stylus that came bundled along with the Black Friday discount meant this was great value as well.
