I use this camera for commuting to work every day as it is 1 hour drive with various traffic conditions and ever day there are one daily idiot so I need some extra insurance which this camera give me.
See the video and you get the picture. 🙂
It is cheap and picture is a bit grainy. I even boght polarisin filter for it but don’t see much of a difference. At least you don’t feel lonely with constant reminders to keep up.
I dislike that they don’t include an sd card but insist on using their specific brand. It also makes some annoying remarks at times, namely “keep up with front” when reversing or sometimes prematurely when setting off.
However it does record in high quality its probably still the best value dash cam for its quality
First i had some troubles to get the device connected to my iphone, but a very prompt and adequate helpdesk helped me through, I wish every helpdesk would be so!
Great picture quality. Tried it initially with a non-MIOFIVE memory card and couldn’t access footage., not sure if it was actually recording. Once MIOFIVE card inserted worked fine. Recommended position of the camera in the instructions obscures the vision of the passenger, think twice before installing in there. Other than that, a great replacement from my previous one. Good VFM
I am a new driver (18) and I’ve been looking for ages for a decent quality dash cam. If you look through Amazon, there are many that all seem to be quite similar. I then went looking through some reviews and guides and this one kept popping up.
Price wise it’s relatively inexpensive compared to some of the top end systems which is great for someone like me working off a smaller budget.
Getting it out of the box, there are many useful accessories that come with it (picture above). There is a panel “crow bar” that came in use as I didn’t want to have exposed wires everywhere. Also included is a replacement 3m double sided tape-foam thing that is good if you need to transfer it to another car.
I found these were nice as most other companies would expect you to pay extra for something like that cough cough, Apple chargers.
Installation was easy once I decided where I was going to put the camera. I have a Citroen c3 which has a large front windscreen which goes back quite far so I didn’t want to route the wires that way.
I ended up pushing the wires into the trim from the back of the windscreen round the dash and then under the centre console where I plugged it into a spare usb port.
The crowbar works well but I thought I might snap some of the plastic panels at times however no damage was done. Don’t be afraid to put pressure on the panels and lift them up a bit to allow the cable to get under.
Once installed I turned on my car and it started first try then prompting me to insert a SIM card so I used one I had to hand – just a sandisk. On the description they said to use theirs but it makes no difference whatsoever, most SIM cards come out the same factory anyway.
There are settings on the camera where you can adjust anything you need – you don’t need to use the app as some other people were saying. You can even turn off the voice if you want but I kept it on low volume.
The app also works fine, just connect to the Bluetooth and WiFi and you can watch live – don’t know why they added that. Or you can view all the captures it made. You don’t need a phone to use this product, you can use a laptop to access videos by taking the flash drive out.
As capturing goes, it’s very sensitive. I live down a private road that has more potholes than the m25 so it tends to go off quite a lot when I tested it. The dashcam records a minute before the sensors detect something which is standard.
In terms of video clarity and quality, the camera is good I can make out number plates from about 60m away from me in the day and about 30m at night which is fine, if you do get into an accident then you will always share info and take pictures anyways so that’s not so important.
I would like to see a version with a battery for recording when I’m parked but for this price range I’m not to bothered.
Overall I feel more confident when driving knowing that if an accident then I can prove it’s not my fault and that there will be indisputable evidence to back this.
Deserves the five stars I gave it.
The device boasts a sturdy build quality, effortless mounting, and a space-efficient design. It remains securely in place on my dashboard without any movement or dislodging. The image quality is impressive, even in low-light conditions, delivering clear footage with excellent color contrast that easily captures license plates. While the initial setup took approximately 15 minutes for the app to detect the device, the subsequent experience was smooth and hassle-free. The user-friendly app is reliable and does not crash with prolonged usage. However, considering its relatively high price (79.99 at the time of this review), I would have expected some form of local storage or an included SD card, even with minimal capacity, for basic functionality. It is worth noting that the camera tends to heat up significantly during extended recording sessions, unlike other dashcams I have used. While this heat does not impact the camera’s performance or footage quality, it raises concerns about prolonged recording sessions exceeding an hour or two.
This is the first dash cam I’ve used and I’ve got to say, it’s absolutely brilliant.
In the box you receive, the camera, USB cable, a car charger, data cable, 3M adhesive sticker, camera mount and a plastic crow bar. The quality is excellent for both the camera and accessories.
You’ll need to download the MIOFIVE app in order to connect it to your phone, this is very straightforward and simple to do by scanning the QR code. I somehow managed to avoid creating an account as I just cancelled the sign up page and I was taken the app main screen. Hopefully I won’t need to sign up at a later stage!
Using the camera is pretty straightforward. There’s a column of buttons on the right side of the screen which allows you to navigate through all the options. One thing I will say is that I thought this camera would work with a rechargeable internal battery but it doesn’t. It needs to be plugged in in order to use it, so please bear that in mind when purchasing. (if it does have an internal battery, it didn’t work for me)
For some of the options like the gallery option won’t work unless you have a memory card in it, but once inserted, you can browse your previous videos very simply by selecting the gallery/picture icon on the main screen.
There are few of option here to customise your camera too. You can select through the quality, 4K is definitely the best for viewing at night but the lower definition option is more than adequate for day time recording.
The overall quality of the video is very good though and I was impressed with how well the detail looked on playback.
Overall, this is a great camera. The quality is good and it’s pretty simple to use. You get everything you need to set it up in your car apart from the memory card.
Mount it on your screen, plug the cable in to your cars power input socket and away you go. You can choose your picture quality via the menu along with other options like how long you want the screen to stay on for etc.
My only gripe about this camera is that it gets very hot when it’s been plugged in for a while, that could be something to be wary of on long journeys although I haven’t had any issues so far.
I ordered this dash cam to replace my previous one, and it has proven to be a reliable choice. It conveniently connects to your phone via an app, allowing you to view videos directly on your device, which is highly practical. However, it doesn’t come with a memory card included.
The suction mount provided is sturdy, ensuring the dash cam stays securely in place. Upon testing, it performed admirably, delivering good video quality with clear day and night footage. It features a date stamp for easy reference.
One of its convenient features is its automatic activation upon starting the car and deactivation upon turning the car off. By default, it records in 1-minute clips, automatically overwriting the oldest footage when the memory card reaches full capacity. You can adjust the video length to your preference if needed.
Overall, this dash cam offers excellent value for budget-conscious users seeking reliable recording capabilities for their car or van. I trust this review provides valuable insight into its performance and you found it helpful.
