Easy to use manual lawn aerator.

The Aerator goes together quickly. All of the tools needed to assemble are included. I personally found it easier to use my own tools. Make sure the spikes are attached securely and hardware is tight to avoid damage to the tool.

This spike Aerator is ideal for small lawns.

The footprint of the tool is small so it can take a bit of time and energy to aerate. It too me around 10-15 mins to aerate a 4ft by 20ft lawn strip with no overlap.

Overall the tools is plenty strong for its design.

I did find that a couple of the spikes did loosen up a little bit after aerating the small lawn strip, all of the spikes tightened right up.

Overall this aerator is a much better value if you have the time and energy to aerate your own lawn. Quotes to aerate the little lawn I have started at $100 so this tool is definitely a great deal.

We had an incredible need to revitalize our lawn after a Texas drought, this tool did just the trick. While manual, it was much cheaper than the rest of the rolling options on the market and the price difference wasn’t worth the level of effort that goes into putting this together and walking around the lawn and using it! Overall a 9/10 purchase. The only issue I had was with the height of the tool, I found it to work well for myself at 5 foot 5, however my 6 foot 4 husband had to bend over heavily to use it well.

Our lawn is very compacted due to years of not doing anything but mowing or weed whacking. In the last 10 years, our grassy area has shrunken every year. I have tried putting grass seeds out (all different kinds, hoping one would take and I’d have a decent yard again, but barely anything grew. So, we needed to do something to help the dirt accept the seeds and hopefully bring back the luscious lawn where the kids can play and stay rather clean. The tool was very easy to assemble and easy to use. There is a bit of weight to the tool, so be careful if you have a bad back. This tool great because while the kids are thinking they are destroying the yard, but they are unknowingly tiring themselves out while they are doing it. In reality, the kids are doing all the hard work of breaking up the top soil so we can put some grass seed out there. This tool is so easy to use that even my youngest who is about the size of a young first grader can use it with ease. Well he just pokes holes, but his brothers follow along with another aerator tool and stir the dirt to make a nice soft bed for the grass seed to rest and grow. I can’t wait until we have a full yard of grass again. This tool is simple to use and can poke holes in the ground or with adding a little twist, you can break the topsoil and stir it up a little. Another thing our arborist, suggested was use some biodegradable gel beads. He said that once we break the topsoil and mix it around, we should go back over to poke some holes in the ground and then place a few gel beads throughout the yard and then cover then back up gently (so we don’t compact the dirt again). The Arborist said this would help the yard maintain some moisture during the times when we are unable to water the lawn. This tool is going to be used so much in the next year or two!

Since my initial review, I was sent a second one which was of high quality and in perfect working order.

At first glance this seems like a robust and well made product. Unfortunately on closer inspection it lacks finishing quality.

One of the spikes had the threats too large for the nuts, and one of the holes was simply not big enough to fit Amy of the spikes through.

    Will be returning it.

The painted steel is not too heavy to use, but definitely not flimsy. It’s going to last many years. Easy assembly with 4 extra clamps to make sure the neck remains perfectly strong. No chance of bending. I knew when buying that it would be much easier to buy a roller. But I have a small lawn and this takes up no space to store on the wall in the garage. A great buy.

The spike aerator lawn tool is a bit of a pain to assemble and not easily disassembled for storage.
We find the the spikes aren’t really large enough to do much to aerate your lawn, but are great for loosening packed soil in a garden.
The handle is comfortable enough to use.
The plate without the spikes can also be used as a tamper.
