Pestmatic Slug Control is designed to create a barrier that slugs and snails are reluctant to cross. The product consists of mineral rocks that look like decorative gravel and promise several benefits, including moisture absorption and soil improvement.

The concept behind Pestmatic Slug Control is intriguing, and it does offer an organic way to protect plants without using toxic chemicals. However, my results were mixed. While the product did seem to deter some slugs, others still managed to get through and damage some of my plants. This inconsistency makes it less reliable than I had hoped.

One significant issue I encountered is that you need to use a substantial amount of the product to create an effective barrier. A 1 kg bag doesn’t last long if you’re trying to cover a larger area, which makes it less economical. I found it more effective when used in flower pots, possibly because the contained space allows for a thicker, more concentrated barrier. However, in a larger garden setting, the slugs and snails might just find another route to your plants.

The product does have some notable benefits. It is completely safe for humans, pets, and plants, which is a significant advantage over traditional poisonous pellets. It also claims to improve soil conditions by increasing oxygen levels and nutrient retention, which can promote stronger, healthier plants.

Easy to use, and not a single slug to be seen.
Before finding these slug pellets the slugs were clearing our veg patch as quickly as we planted.
I am about to order more. Well worth the price.

I used this on my sweet peas and I think it’s definitely helped

It’s a natural solution and they look nice to the bag was a good size enough to help my sweet peas and a few more plants

Pestmatic Smart Barrier slug and snail repellent

I have never been able to keep dahlias, they get decimated by slugs and snails so I gave up trying to keep them long ago. So decided I could trial this around a planted dahlia and see how effective it is.

I have had a plant in the ground with a very decent layer of this product encircling the plant for over a week, now, with no sign of any damage. So the signs are good that it being very effective. I will continue to use it on this one plant as im sure weather and watering is going to impact the barrier. If I have a beautiful bushy plant at the end of summer this will be bumped up to 5 stars. I’ll also have more idea of how much effort this takes in the long term.

Smart barrier slug and snail control came in resealable bag for ease of use. It looks like small pieces of hard rock. Not sure which one though. All it says on the packaging is “natural minerals”.
There is no smell to it but its a bit dusty.
Its easy to use. Just needs to be put around plants visited by slugs to make 3-4 cm wide barrier.
Too early to say if its working yet. Bit pricey.

Here is a large pouch of slug and snail repellent.
It comes looking like small shards of gravel inside a foil pouch.
I’ve drizzled it around my sunflowers and (so far) these ones haven’t been eaten!
One pouch won’t cover many plants, needing about a handful for each plant. According to the pouch, it will slowly dissolve over time and turn in to some kind of fertiliser, but I haven’t had it long enough yet to be sure how that works.

The slugs are really annoying when I grow vegetables in a small patch of my garden. Unlike other slug killer products which contain toxic chemicals and are harmful to the environment, this 1kg protective granules is pet & animal friendly. It is able to create a barrier (spread the granules around the veg patch ) to prevent slugs/snails from crossing the barrier, thus protect my vegetables. Apart from reducing the harmful impact of slugs and snails, this product can bring other additional advantages to my garden. It can improve the soil properties in many ways. For example, loosen the soil and enables the soil retain water and nutrients better.

    PROS
-I’m really happy to have this, as the slugs devastated my garden last season. I’ve only just started to get shoots coming up in my garden, so the slugs will be gunning for my veggies!
    -no expiry
-doesn’t use chemicals (so safe to use around veggies and herbs)

    CONS
-the bag gets used up pretty quickly (in you want to make a wide barrier)
-no indication of what these are made of (are they just rocks?)

    NOTES
-I’ve only just started using these. Time will tell if they are effective in the long term (I sure hope they are)

    MY STAR RATINGS:
    1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

The Pestmatic Smart Barrier slug and snail repellent is an original way to keep slugs and snails away from your flower beds. We have had mixed results, mainly because snails and slugs are devious and can climb walls, but we have so far, it seems, kept the slugs at bay. We like the idea of creating a defensive ‘barrier’ and it will be interesting to see just how effective it is longer term.

Recently, we noticed the first signs of slugs attempting to nibble on our berry plants, so the Pestmatic Smart Barrier arrived just in time to fend them off—or so I hope. I’ve set up the defense line and will be monitoring its effectiveness closely. The attached picture shows the ‘before’ image.

The repellent consists of special granules that are easy to distribute in the affected area. I’m pleased that they’re meant to be non-toxic and safe for the surrounding environment. If they fail to deter the slugs, I’ll update my review accordingly.
