So easy to set up works great with my Xbox X and has auto shut off on standby, that I am happy about as the last portable hard drive I set up on my Xbox one ran all the time and only lasted two years.

Seagate memory items I’ve used before and this was a must buy as my Xbox x memory was full. So easy to install, just plug into the usb port on either the back
Or front of the Xbox, boot up, format the drive to games and begin moving what games you want to the new storage. Easy

This External Drive is fantastic, it’s the best one I ever got. I love the blue led light on it and the design of it looks lovely and it feels nice and heavy and it doesn’t look or feel cheap either. I highly recommend this to any gamer as a way to keep your games stored and less hassle of deleting and reinstall them. Highly recommended to any gamer. I would give this 10 Stars if I could.

I’ve encountered no problems with it and it’s delivered exactly what I’ve expected from this product
Surprisingly small which is a bonus, so if you have your xbox up against a wall, it won’t become a massive hassle

It works for some Xbox series games but most are not compatible I would recommend only if you have a large library of Xbox one games, it mostly doesn’t work for Xbox series games and it would be better to get an external SSD

I bought this as backup for my Xbox hard drive and it’s quick and simple to set up and use. The only drawback is you can’t play games direct from it, you have to transfer them between console and drive but depending on the size of the game it can take as little as 5 minutes

Arrived quickly. Looks great, matched the white Ps5 well. High cost but in/around the margins for items that were of a similar size memory/storage.

1-total available space from the start is 4.6TB not 5TB, I can only
Assume the missing space is used to store OS data for the device.(happy to be corrected by someone with more knowledge).
2-you can only play PS4 games directly from the external HD NOT Ps5 games. They must be recovered from the HD across to the Ps5 PRIOR to playing. Example GTA5 takes about 20mins to move before playing.
3- literally a plug and play device. No additional actions required.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersLike a memory card, just plugs in and the system shows the xtra memory gained. Very expensive way of going on, but has to be done. Should come with a glow in the dark seagate sticker or a fluffy toy that looks at you with large, sad, sympathetic eyes….need something to feel you were justified in such expense, especially as the Xbox X(mine at least) is not without its’ niggling faults, probably born out of the internal power supply module rather than the old inline adapter. This means you have invested in an expensive console that is temperamental and sometimes doesn’t startup!…seems to be an issue with xbox X…. Power cycling and not firing up with the controller, which has cured itself over time!?!
But, the seagate 2T is quietly excellent and is plug n play with no issues. Just plug it in and forget it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality memory expansio

Does what it’s supposed to do. I bought one years ago to use with a PS5, and it’s plug and play. Works out of the box. I’m using it to store games on, as the less than a TB of storage that comes with the launch PS5 is not enough. It’s still working today.

Setting up the lights on it is easy. The drive comes with a link to the webpage to download the software pre-installed. Press the link, download the software, immediately have the ability to alter the colour settings. The settings are retained even if the drive is switched off or moved.

I just purchased a new one to watch media on a smart TV with. I did have to reformat it to NTFS to make the TV recognise it, but a simple ‘reformat’ in windows did the job and now it’s working fine.

I think 100 is too expensive for 2TB, but when it’s on sale for around half price that’s fairer. There are plenty of other hard drives on amazon that are slightly cheaper but aren’t from official companies are sound like they’re made in a basement in China, and amazon doesn’t monitor what’s actually on them so anything could happen when they’re plugged in. It’s worth paying a little bit extra to get one from an official company that’s known to be safe.

Lastly, selecting the ‘rainbow’ option for the LEDs obviously makes the drive work faster.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to hold a large collection of media, and whilst it cannot boast the speeds of SSD or NVMe, what it does have is capacity…. a lot of it!

There is plenty of competition for gaming products and storage is no different. Usually a ‘gaming’ storage product would try to differentiate itself by having faster read/write speeds, but Seagate have marketed this product firmly in the large capacity category.

The drive itself is not too big, and comes with customisable LED light effects that can sync with Razor gaming equipment, but they don’t really add anything for me. The performance is reasonable for a spinning disc, with retrieval of documents, video and photos at an acceptable level.

Seagate are known for making good hard drives, so I expect this will last a while, but they also have a data recovery service, allowing you a single lab based attempt to recover your data in the event of a failure. This is a nice touch, but in practice, an online backup service is probably still required for most people.

There are more secure ways to store data locally, but for the price, this drive represents good value for money and is certainly doing a good job for me so far.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersReceived my 2TB expansion card today.

    Pros:

    1. Bumps my total X/S storage up to 3TB from 1TB (1TB internal + 2TB expansion card). Allows me to store and launch Xbox Series X/S enhanced games without having to transfer them continuously between USB drives and internal storage (or having to uninstall games). I still use my USB hard drives to store my library of non-enhanced games.

    2. Very very very fast read/write speeds. Mimicks internal storage performance.

    3. All I needed to do was plug it in and it worked straight out of the box. It’s also hot swappable.

    Cons:

    PRICE. PRICE. PRICE.
    This thing is CRAZY EXPENSIVE.

    Was it worth it?

For me, yes. While it’s dented my wallet quite significantly it allows me to store and launch substantially more X/S enhanced games and since, going forward, newer games will also require the faster storage USB drives are gradually becoming deprecated. Their only use really is for older games. Unless you want to constantly have to move games between USB and internal (a time consuming pain in the bum) consider investing in one of these drives. They’re backed by a 3 year manufacturer warranty as well. Divide 367.59 by 36 and it works out at roughly 10 a month. And that’s not factoring in that, realistically, it’ll continue to last way past the warranty period so realistically it’s probably less.

    Should you buy one?

Well that’s entirely up to you. If you’re able to afford one and don’t like having to uninstall or transfer games between slower USB drives and internal storage (which is slow because of the USB drives limited read/write speeds) then go for it. There are 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB options to suit your needs. The 2TB one, while the larger investment, actually offers the cheapest solution of the three. Effectively you’re paying less per gigabyte than with the other 2 cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great drive, super expensive though!

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersOkay, I’m going to mention the elephant in the room and say that this is an expensive investment, and SSD’s are in fact quite expensive to begin with, however I’ve got to commend the design team on just how small and portable this SSD is. It’s extremely simple to use, you simply insert it into the expansion slot at the back of your Series X or S and it does the rest for you, if there’s no space on your consoles internal SSD then it’ll automatically install to the portable expansion card. The counter argument to why it’s expensive is because it uses the same architecture inside of the Series X, so games will play and feel as if your playing them from the internal SSD itself. There’s no compromise whatsoever, to quote Bethesda, it just works! I feel in this day and age games are so big these days that it’s almost a given that you’ll need to shell out for extra storage. Of course you can run older back compat games from your already current external hard drive but the caveat there is that you won’t be able to play any of the Series X or S optimised games from that hard drive, you’ll either need to have them installed via internal SSD or the storage expansion card.

So to summarise, I think it’s a brilliant piece of tech and it’s definitely essential I’d say if you’re a serious gamer, it does almost cost as much as the Series S and nearly half that of the Series X but it’s just convenience and doubles your storage in the process. You could argue that Microsoft could have expanded the internal storage but same issue, the consoles price itself would increase. While it’s not essential for the casual gamer that maybe only goes between a few games every couple of weeks, I’d say it’s a great purchase if you have the money to spare and if you game quite a lot!
