I have used store-bought coffee powder for my free press. But when I was offered this I wanted to try. I’m not a coffee enthusiast but have started liking coffee.

Since this grinder has a grinding setting I can use it as want. How to choose the setting is given in the picture. I had to try different stages to get the desired ground.

All the details are given. This coffee grinder is robust and it has a modern design. You can set this grinder to a desired granule size to ensure it works for your device. the instructions focus on the settings for French Press, Pour Overs and Espresso.

It is very easy to use. But bit pricey. but great for having fresh coffee.

A very well-designed coffee grinder, I’m surprised to notice so much of a difference between this and a much cheaper grinder I have used previously.
The grinder is very easy to use and didn’t require my effort to use. It is easily adjustable using the lens-like wheel to suit how the coffee will be made after grinding and seems very precise, whereas the previous one I used wasn’t and would sometimes grind too fine for my machine. The overall build is really well made and sleek and looks great in the kitchen.

Grinds coffee very well and has multiple settings for your desired brew. Love the look, very sleek and love how compact it is, everything folds away. Perfect for camping trips or just taking it in your backpack to work etc for freshly ground coffee everytime.

I tested this with the advice of my son who spent some time working as a barista while at university. He pronounced this an excellent hand grinder for small households – it grinds enough coffee beans to make coffee for one or two people at a time. He said the grind is good, adjustable according to how you intend to make your coffee, from coarse for a cafetiere (French press) down to extra fine for espresso. He found the quality of the build very good and solid including the handle (and I loved the attractive green colour!). It’s also fairly easy to clean, is small and compact, and so can be taken travelling if that’s your thing.
The only possible criticism he had was that you do have to hold onto the grinder firmly as you use it to stop it moving around, as it’s small, but that’s a very minor point. The only criticism I had was the price (currently 149) which seemed steep to me, although it does seem to be par for the course for both manual and electric bean grinders.

The TIMEMORE Chestnut S3 Manual Coffee Grinder has been a fantastic addition to our kitchen, especially for my daughter, who is a barista and appreciates high-quality coffee gear. From its all-metal body to the stainless steel burr, the build quality of this grinder is immediately impressive. It has a solid, heavy feel that speaks to its durability and precision engineering.

One of the standout features is the numerical external adjustable setting, which allows for precise control over the grind size, making it versatile enough for everything from espresso to French press. My daughter loves the consistency and ease of use, noting that it delivers a uniform grind that significantly enhances the flavor profile of her brews.

The green color adds a stylish touch, fitting seamlessly into our kitchen decor. Overall, the TIMEMORE Chestnut S3 is a top-notch manual coffee grinder that combines excellent build quality with precise functionality, making it a cherished tool for any coffee enthusiast or professional barista. Highly recommended for its performance and durability.

Being obsessed about grinding beans myself, this is a great obvious next step after starting out with the cheaper less effective blade grinder. Very easy to use and clean. Price for me was amazing! And unexpected. Looks great with my other greys , all great quality products from Amazo

A great coffee grinder that feels solid and is well-made. This extends to the packaging too and would make a great gift.
The coffee grind can be adjusted easily, without dismantling the unit, which you have to do with some of the cheaper alternatives.
The grind is consistent across the grades and gives a predictable result, which can be fine-tuned to meet your needs e.g. moka pot or cafetire etc.
The only thing I was not so keen on is the solid grind container – this means you have to keep unscrewing it to check the amount. Also, the handle, whilst foldable, means the unit falls over when empty, if not folded in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made

I absolutely adore coffee and I’ve tried quite a few different machines in my time.
High quality coffee comes with a price tag and you usually need to know exactly what you’re after.
This grinder is superb. Not only does it do the job perfectly, it’s also very very versatile.
Firstly the grinder is very smooth and easy to use. Perhaps the best part is that it’s fully adjustable depending on how you brew. Fine powder for espresso to coarse grounds for a cafetiere, this grinder does it all.
I’m really impressed and I’d thoroughly recommend for anyone who fancies themselves as a home barista

This grinds really evenly and easily. It’s really nice quality, and feels like it will last for a long time. It feels heavy and sturdy. The folding handle is solid and makes it much more portable.

    Fairly consistent grind.

    Feels very solid.

    Grinds quickly.

    Well presented.

Weight is 800g with the handle on.

I’m not a coffee nerd of any description, in fact I rarely drink it. My partner usually drinks instant coffee through laziness. So, going in to this review I had no idea why anybody would pay this kind of money for a grinder.

I put 2 tea spoons of dark roast beans in for each setting, and ground on 0, 5 and 8. The results can be seen in the included image. 0 is basically a powder.

Grinding was very easy, and fairly quick. Less than 30 seconds.

Using fine mesh brewing baskets/tea strainers, I made up 3 cups and let them brew for about 4-5 minutes.

The 8 grind had a strong smell, and the usual flavour we’d expect.
The 5 grind had a more subtle smell, and less of the bitter notes we got from the 8.
The 0 grind had almost no smell, and a very watery flavour.

Going back and trying my cheap old electric grinder, we both agreed that the flavour wasn’t as nice.

I still wouldn’t pay this kind of money for coffee equipment personally, but I can now appreciate that the grinder does make a difference. From what I can see on the internet, this is considered normal pricing.

Got it for my partner as our electric grinder isnt as precise for the espresso machine. Sleek, easy to use, amazing grind and Im obsessed with the brush it comes with – amazing soft bristles, I use it for both grinders now.
Only downside is that I am not the most skilled person and dropped it flat on the ground after only a week of use. I thought the kitchen tile had cracked, the grinder weighs a ton, but luckily the tile was intact. The grinder however dented a bit at the edge of the opening, which doesnt affect the performance but it “catches” a bit when used.
I do not fault the grinder at all, it was 100% on me – and I gotta say Im glad the kitchen tile didnt crack.

I’d been using a blade coffee grinder for a while and wondered what the big deal about freshly ground coffee was – didn’t seem to taste any better, even when grinding small quantities using a pulse process to avoid overheating or burning the beans. I decided on the Timemore C2 Fold after quite a bit of research. The difference is amazing! My coffee tastes as it should, and I can appreciate the quality of the roast and the nuanced flavour notes in the bean.
The product is very easy to use. Took me a while to get the hang of it because of the way the instruction manual is set out, but there are some excellent reviews here which detail how to set up and use the product.
I find that 2 tablespoons of beans (I use the measure that came with my cafetiere) is enough for one mug (around 250ml of water) and take about 30 seconds to grind.
I like to savour my freshly ground coffee on leisurely mornings off, and this product is an excellent addition to that ritual. It’s space saving, sleek, very easy to use and clean, and excellent value for money.
If, like me, you think that good coffee is one of life’s small pleasures, then this product is a must.
I’ll add that I bought this product and have not been asked to provide a review.

I was daunted by the prospect of having to set up a new grinder. But the instructions & guidance for different types of brewing equipment were easy to follow and it was quick and easy.
The grinder is sturdy and very smooth to use.
The only thing is, the grinds chamber is a little on the small side, but with this quality I’m can handle this!
Definitely not for travel, but a great tool for at home, if you prefer having freshly ground beans for your coffee every morning!

    Pros:

Comparing with my old hand grinder, the grind consistency is way better. Much fewer unwanted fines so my filter paper didn’t get clogged even with a finer grind setting. I do pour over at home, and would definitely recommend it for that. I don’t know about its performance with other brew methods. Very nice grinder!

    Cons:

Adjusting the grind setting is a little painful however, as there is no absolute scale. You start from the finest position and then adjust out with a stepped grind adjustment and you count the number of steps. It’s probably not something fixable, however, because of the range of the grinder.

The hopper is also a little small. I tend to brew 30g portions, so the 25g capacity (really about 28g) means I have to batch it. The catch bin can hold the full 30g of grounds. I don’t mind batching it in, but it might be a reason to go for the C3 Max Pro.

The folding handle is very nice for storage, and would be very annoying to store otherwise. It is an extra moving part, however, so I’m hoping it doesn’t break as I’ve been unable to source any spare parts for this grinder in the UK.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought an Aeropress as a cheap way of making coffee while camping (30 and great reviews), and I was so impressed by the great coffee it made that I joined an Aeropress Facebook group and cheap went out the window. Thermostatic kettles, expensive beans, and a quality hand grinder are, it turns out, all essential components to a great coffee.

So I asked in the FB group for recommendations for a grinder, and the Timemore Chestnut was the most recommended.

The quality is great – it feels really premium and well made. Grinding is effortless, it’s easy to clean, and it looks good. It’s small, but one load of beans is perfect for one cup, so it makes a great accompaniment to the Aeropress.

I highly recommend this grinder (and the Aeropress!)

I had a Moulinex electric grinder which worked for over 40 years. Replaced that with a Salter which conked out after 2 years, pathetic. Now gone for this C3 model manual grinder which is well-made (good weight, like something made in Germany or Sweden in the late 20th century) but small.
It grinds very well indeed, has several settings for different grinds and produces enough for one large cup which is ok for me these days.
The weak point is probably the hinged handle though this has a spring-loaded sleeve to help take the stress. It rotates firmly and satisfyingly enough though, and the grinder itself has steel burrs (ceramic are the trendiest it seems) not a blade – but IMO the beans don’t care what they are ground with.
    So far so good.
This is very suitable for travelling I should think.

Great build quality and works efficiently. I have a Eureka Mignon for espresso grinds, but that doesn’t grind course enough for Aeropress, so I needed a relatively cheap manual grinder.

This replaced a very cheap grinder that produced very inconsistent quality grinds, and the difference is night and day.

This is easy to adjust (although not stepless, but that’s not an issue for non espresso use), and it grinds quickly and efficiently.

The quality of my Aeropress extractions went up instantly.

Very well machined and designed grinder. The magnetic handle sleeve snaps into place with precision and the catch cup screws on perfectly every time.
I’m grinding somewhere between espresso and pour over is giving great results in my aeropress. Grinding requires a little effort but is 30 odd seconds for my 14g (haven’t timed it!).

I was looking at the 1ZPresso models for nearly double the price and was worried this would feel “cheap” by comparison but it doesn’t and is great to use in the mornings. Feels solid and has some nice touches like the little rubber stopper to keep the handle from rubbing against the body.
Offers very good value for the money in my opinion.

Yes, this does the job, I was able to grind the beans to powder-like consistency required for espresso. Looks like a robust construction ,it’s easy to use and I don’t think there’s anything as good at this price range.
    Easy 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent build quality with a large enough capacity for a strong 500ml pour over. I don’t make espresso so i can’t speak to its ability to grind for it but i have made pour over with several different roast profiles and i have been able to dial them in perfectly to get a balanced delicious finished product. If you like to make fresh drip every morning and enjoy a very large cup then this is the grinder for you. You definitely need to wet the beans to help with static as you will lose a good portion of your start weight so keep that in mind, the grinder is supplied with nice cleaning brush but that wont rescue much.
