I’ve had several 8Bitdo products and they’re always really well built! The plastics are that old school feel that are nice and durable and hefty. I am using this at my desk at work for simple calculations. I plan on just using it as a standalone calculator rather than as a wireless number pad, but I tried that and it works great too. The switches feel good and clicky. The dial at the top snaps in to place really nicely. I’m mostly familiar with 8bitdo for game controllers but this is really nice and I’ll check them out for my next keyboard when I need one.

My ONE complaint is the text around the display on the keypad. I would have preferred a cleaner look, but that’s nitpicky.

Other reviews, as well as 8BitDo, indicatie no compatibility with Mac.
It connects and works just fine, with the following caveat:
When not used for a few minutes, the device goes in a sleep mode, to wake it up, the first key pressed is ofte not registered. And, the calculator button does not open the Mac-Caculator (why use that when you have a calculator on the device itself..)
That’s it, apart from that, it works perfectly fine for me on a M3 Pro Macbook Pro

Love the mechanical keys’ feeling. It has been working very well for the last two months on just one charge. Even though the spec didn’t say, it works flawlessly with Mac. I chose it specifically for the calculator for fast access. There is a very minor low buzz sound in the calculator mode, though it can be totally ignored.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI got a fancy compact mechanical keyboard without a number pad for travel and work, and found myself needing a numpad for design work and data entry at home. Went with the 8bitdo and couldn’t be happier with it! Clacky responsive keys, endless connectivity options (wireless, wired, bluetooth) and the calculator function is invaluable in terms of quick and easy calculations. The LED readout is bright and responsive without being blinding, and I would take a hardware calculator over a software one any day. Though if you for some reason prefer that, there’s a hotkey as well! Plus this thing just looks so cool. Never thought something as boring as a numpad would ever inspire such joy, but here we are. Oh, and the battery life has been fantastic, use it pretty much daily and have yet to charge it after a couple weeks.

This bad boi is great looking, sounds great with the mechanical keys, and battery lasts significantly better than I expected. Zero latency. I’m super glad I got this. I love the calculator thats built in as well with a push of a button. Would highly recommend.

Added this numeric keypad to the desktop and it’s right at home. Having it detached allowed me to place it where I needed it. Perfect weight & size, not-too-bright LCD, color-coded keys & a soft USB cable make this keypad a welcomed addition. Excellent value for a quality numeric keypad. Calculator mode makes this one a must-have.

It magnetically attaches to the keyboard! Makes it exactly what I need, numpad and main keyboard with all the modern keys and macro keys. Get both, amazing combination. First time I bought a keyboard specifically, rather than using whatever came with the PC/Mac. Build in calc is nice. NumLock on/off (CAL + C) and Bt/2.3 compatibility! Going to get another pair for home.

In 2.4ghz or usb mode everything works perfectly, but in bluetooth mode it ignores the first keystroke after it goes into sleep mode. It’s quite irritating.

Other than that, it’s a pretty great piece of hardware!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo I’ll start this by saying I have absolutely no need for this product. I just like retro style things and sometimes like to use a standalone calc not on my PC so this was something I couldn’t pass up. I actually was contemplating returning it but every time I look at it I decide to keep it even I just use it as a show piece. The build is solid and expected from 8bitdo. Everything works and I would recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving worked at IBM (twice) I can say that it’s not the best company. However, they did make the best keyboards. I’ve been on the same Model M for over 30 years. Although this isn’t the same layout as the original it’s good enough.

    Pros:
    – Authentic look
    – Gimmicky built in calc is a hit with friends and family. Buy this thing. Use it as your calc at school or work. Instant credibility!
    – Dedicated calc launcher button is an upgrade for me.
    – Proper colors (even down to the USB cable being the right color)
    – Adding backspace is great idea.
    – Losing numlock also totally makes sense.

    Neutral:
    – Minus (-) being moved will probably never be noticed in my use (but maybe).

    Cons:
    – Did I really need BT/2.4GHz? At least there is a cool dial.

For sure worth it. Get one while you can. Great job 8bitdo!

One upgrade every 30 years. Totally worth it.
