I thought these high refresh rate monitors were a gimmick and you couldn’t see the difference. After much persistent nagging by a teenager I made this modest investment for a gaming PC. Well, I guess I was wrong as you CAN see the difference. Everything I was taught in biology about the eye not being able to discern frame rates about 30Hz was a LIE!
So it looks pretty good. My only niggle is it does not have an off switch. So, if you connect it to something like a home server (which I have on one of its HDMI ports) it never switches off. You have to disable auto-select input and switch to a disconnected input and then it goes to sleep.
A bright clear panel. The stand is a clip together plastic pillar with absolutely no adjustment, so I am at a loss as to why “TILT” appears in the product header. The provided stand is so basic that it is not even mentioned anywhere in the written material in the box. The documentation is a joke – it talks about nothing except wall mouting and the use of safety chains and strongly recommends getting professional installer.
Currently I can make do with the basic stand provided but sooner or later I will need to invest in a VESA mounting arm.
I wanted a decent 27″ monitor for under 100 that I could use as a spare/second screen. I doubt I could have done much better with that budget, even buying second hand.
This isn’t the most stylish of monitors and its features are pretty basic, but it does the job and it’s a piece of cake to use and put together. It took less than 5 minutes to assemble and connect to my computer. Using it as a dual screen has worked brilliantly and the colours are really vibrant.
There’s a fair bit of anti-aliasing going on but you can tweak the settings on your computer to reduce it. I’ve played video games and done a bit of design work on this monitor and have yet to encounter any major issues after about 6 weeks of use.
For everyday use it’s perfect.
I loved the price for this model compared to others of a similar spec, but the first thing I noticed is the monitor swings about side to side in it’s base mount. There is nothing to prevent it, then I noticed it does not have the ability to tilt the monitor. I use the monitor for CCTV so I am not using it daily, but a gamer would need to buy a suitable stand or vesa mount (at extra cost).
The bezel is narrow, so for someone using two or more monitors mounted together side by side, the wide picture will not be much impaired so from that paint of view it is excellent design.
The monitor is VERY light which makes handling and mounting on a stand very easy. I found the poower button and other controls, eventually and they are very discreetly hidden under the bottom edge on the right side, and since most people are right handed this makes perfect sense, glad I am not left handed.
The input ports are openly visible on the monitors raer panel, I am not a fan of connectors poking directly out of the back it makes cable tidying a pain. I have purchase a couple of 90 degree adapters for the HDMI and Power ports since I have experienced this problem before.
The picture is rock solid, not a trace of a flicker, colour is great and I might even say vibrant.
All in all not a bad deal but the monitor has a few minor design issues, but none that can’t be overcome easily and frankly it does it’s job perfectly , I like it.
