Being short on space but big on skincare, I was excited to try the Bauer Mirror Mini Fridge. Let me tell you, it’s a nifty little gadget for any beauty enthusiast.
First off, the size is perfect. It sits comfortably on my dressing table, with enough room for my favourite serums, sheet masks, and even a small roller. No more rummaging through the main fridge for my chilled eye cream! The built-in LED light is a game-changer for my morning routine. No more squinting in the bathroom mirror, I can now see exactly what I’m doing with my makeup.
It’s not the most powerful fridge on the market, but for a small collection of products, it does the trick. Plus, it’s surprisingly quiet — no annoying hums to disrupt my morning zen.
his fridge is very nicely made and feels like a quality product. the plastic feels sturdy and the door has a nice heft and reassuring closure to it.
inside there’s about enough space to fit 4 cans of coke (ideal for reference size) in 2×2 formation on the lower portion and 2 further cans laid on their side from back to front on the upper shelf. though the tiny door shelf will prevent the door from closing so would have to be removed.
as I was already using the cokes to test it I figured i would see how the fridge fared in cooling them as well. the process was highly unscientific but i let the fridge settle for 24 hours just in case it needed it after transit and then i turned it on. after a few hours the cans didn’t really feel noticeably cold to the touch but after sleeping on it the cans were cooled to a temperature that they’d be enjoyable on a hot day but not ice ice cold like they would be in our regular fridge.
this fridge is not really designed to be used for beverages so i think expecting it to cool such a large amount of liquid is probably asking a lot so i’m unsurprised it took a while to get itself going but also I know there will be people looking at this product thinking “i wonder if i could put drinks in that on my desk”. well the answer is you could but should you? probably not.
in terms of typical usage for this fridge it seems to suggest that it might live in a bedroom on a makeup table. but i have to say i would not choose to sleep with this on in the room. the fan is not a jet engine by any means but when turned on it was immediately noticeable to me and in a quiet dark room while i was trying to sleep it would be all i would hear. if you had a walk in with a makeup table in there it would probably be fine.
the mirrored door and built in light with touch sensitive button look nice but were easy to smudge and if it’s placed on a table neither are really in a place where they’re going to be helpful for many tasks, it would need to be raised up off the desk somehow but it feels like a clunky way to use it.
so it’s a product that works. in isolation all of its functions are pretty good, but cohesively it just doesn’t feel like it really checks all the boxes to make it something that really does its job well.
perhaps it’s just not the product for me…
I gave this to my partner so she can store her various temperature sensitive makeups and skin creams, this is her feedback on this:
> Doesn’t take up much room width wise
> Very nice clean white design, the mirror is a nice touch!
> The led light and its different settings are great little detail
> Cools down reasonably quickly
> It’s quite noisy, the humming is a bit loud so not really suitable in the bedroom
Height wise, it’s shorter than a 1L bottle of Pepsi, and can fit a few cans of fizzy drinks if you have the spare space.
Pretty good cooler, just ensure you have somewhere to keep it if the noise is too much for your bedroom.
Whilst I ordered this for my wife I ended up using it myself.
She decided that she wouldn’t use it as it would be far too small for her needs, she blogs about beauty products so has a lot, though for most it would be fine, especially given the door is an LED lit mirror.
I was more than happy to take it off her hand.
I store photographic film in the Freezer but often forget to take it out the night before I need it, this allows me to keep a small amount refrigerated in my studio for emergencies, and it works fine for this though I may now have to look at getting a dedicated film fridge as it is spoiling me.
A lovely mini fridge with a great design
Mirror finish on the front fascia looks really good
Fits into any bedroom environment
It is quiet in operation, and includes an adapter to also use in the car
Great overall very happy with this purchase
