My dad was a keen photographer and had a lot of lighting equipment and would have loved this. It comes in quite a compact box and I expected to be disappointed but it’s well thought out with decently sturdy stands that would fall over if you push them, but support the lights well in normal use. The clamp to hold them on isn’t the highest quality but again because the lights are so light it won’t matter.
The lights have a large surround that can mount horizontal or vertical and have a cover that fits over easily with velcro on the four sides that helps create a nice diffused light. Compared to the 500w small heaters my dad used to subject us to for family portraits these LED bulbs are create. A bit of heat builds up but much more comfortable to sit under and not sending the meter spinning.
I’ve used to photograph some items for sale and for some new passport photos and I’m pleased with the results. It’s easy for me to use and get decent results so I’d say this is a good kit for a beginner.
Like all these things you really don’t know what it’s like until you get it..
This is surprisingly good for the money, the reflective cones/boxes are of good quality with very good fittings expected thin brittle plastic that was liable to break after a few uses and this is not, the fittings on all of it is strong and robust with the option of situating the boxes landscape or portrait angles, they fit over the end of the tripod/stand easily and have a great screw lock. The tripod /stand is sturdy with adjustable height certainly reaching over standard ceiling height..
The bulbs are led with excellent heat sink properties.
All this comes with 2x remotes to adjust each light individually with light temperatures having a good range of shades from warm light to bright cool light, each also being dimmable, this will cover all your lighting needs and would suit a advanced amateur or a basic professional who doesn’t want to carry 3 tons of stuff in the car/van.
Overall as stated a very good bit of kit and well worth getting.
