When assembled they looked really big in raw timber, so I’ve painted them with wood preserver, this makes them blend in better and not seem overly large. My black bin is quite old and must be a few mm deeper, I’ve had to cut two notches out of the rear frame inside to allow the wheelie bin to fit better. Looks good, better than multicoloured plastic bins and value for money.
Overall this is a well made, solid bin store and I would buy it again. It is also the only one I could find that had a back which I needed and others I looked at seemed flimsy by comparison . However, there are a few caveats to this that may help others.
1. The instructions could be clearer when it comes to screwing the sides to the back. It is easy to get this wrong (I did initially) but you can just do it again without any issues.
2. There is a wooden batten that is screwed, for rigidity, across the front just below the lid and I found that this needed fettling before my wheelie bin (a standard, council supplied, single wheelie bin) would clear it height wise.
3. Depth wise my wheelie bin only just about goes in and the door needs a bit of a push so that the supplied bolt can be used but it is manageable.
This bin store isn’t cheap but you do get a very sturdy structure that should last for a long time. Mine will get a coat of water proofing to protect it further.
Happy to report that These bin hiders are fabulous really thick material very well designed and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I did look at lots of other options first and they seemed flimsy but this has made a very heavy duty quality timber and I couldn’t be more pleased with i
