Great way to help kids stay on schedule and on task. It is a great tool for kids with autism, ADHD and those that need a little momentum stay focused. This is a great tool for home schooling kids, but also an aid to help kids prepare for school days and be able to communicate better. Takes both the parent and the teacher to help facilitate the best learning environment for their kids. This helps kids transition back and forth from the school to the home. Your child’s teacher will thank you.
Backstory: my 5yo son has ASD, and although he is verbal, he has a really hard time focusing and staying on tasks. During pre-k, his SE teacher would have a small daily routine reward chart with pictures he would follow, then give himself a star for completing each task. She said he benefited greatly from it. When I saw this, I thought this would be a great addition to our morning and afternoon routine for when he starts kindergarten in the fall. Now on to the review…
At first glance the kit is great! It comes with a LOT of different punch-out cards for all types of things. The book has different categories for the day and ways to organize them how you like. The small velcro stickers stick well to the paper cutouts. They hold onto the felt pages of the book well but are not difficult to remove. Some of the pictures and their labels are a little different or strange, which is why I rated it a 4 out of 5. All in all I am happy with this product and I’m happy to initiate this visual routine for my son this fall. It’s almost like a circle time board they use in schools.
This is very easy to use by my 3 year old and is very well organized. I like that there are spots for the different cards. It isn’t very sturdy when it is set up. It falls over easily when he is trying to work with it.
This is one of the more robust planning tools I have received.
Many options and lots of space to utilize the cards.
Love the blank options and versatility of this set.
Ordered this for our almost two year old daughter to help keep her (and us too) on a dependable and visual routine. It’s all felt and I like how it can fold to stand up on its own. There are plenty of options to choose from but several are more for older kids. So if you have multiaged kids this would be perfect for the whole family. It’s easy to use however the language is in UK English so keep that in mind, also wish the colors were more fun and bright. It works for now just have a hard time keeping my daughters attention.
Nice portable felt book for keeping our homeschool days on track. It’s nice that it has a carrying handle and can stand upright. There is a good selection of cards, and they stick securely to the pages. The pages of the book are tabbed: (Food, Toys, School, Emotions, “Home Act”). It was a bit of a task putting all the Velcro dots on the cards. The cards feel sturdy enough and there are blank cards you can fill out yourself. Overall, I am not sure how helpful this will end up being for us. There are a ton of cards, it’s almost overwhelming, and there is no storage for all of the cards not in use.
My kid’s speech therapist recommended a visual schedule for son because he has limited speech. I think this could be a little sturdier. There’s plenty of pictures to choose from but I think some are unnecessary for younger children. Also, some of the words are UK English and not American. (Ex. Football for soccer). I wish there was a pouch to keep the pictures that are not in use instead on the different categories. It makes the back heavier and easy to tip over if bumped. Overall, it’s not bad and the blank cards are a plus. I would still recommend.
This is a very nice and affordable option for a daily schedule. You do have to attach the Velcro on the back of each card yourself and there isn’t enough space in the little pocket to hold any extra cards while not I’m use but those are the only downsides.
I ordered this portable felt book to help get our homeschool days organized and provide a visual schedule for the children to follow. I like that this felt book has a convenient carrying handle and that it can stand upright. It seems well constructed and the Velcro dots adhere securely to the pages. The pages of the book are tabbed: Food, Toys, School, Emotions, and Home Act. You do need to put all the Velcro dots on the cards yourself. The cards feel like a thick cardstock and are laminated on the front side only. There is a wide range of cards included and blank cards you can fill out yourself. Overall, I feel this book will be helpful and everything seems like nice quality materials but I have two issues with it. I wish you could change out the page tabs as I have no idea what “Home Act” is supposed to mean and I wish there was some sort of storage for all of the cards not in use.
