Having read the reviews of this product I was hopeful it would live up to its reputation. I’m glad to say it did that and more! This tripod is so dynamic. Its build strength and adaptability are fantastic. Highly recommended this tripod.
This comes in economy packaging, a brown box with black ink. It doesn’t look great as a gift when compared to a big-name like Canon. There is little packaging waste, which is good.
Here are my main highlights for this product:
excellent maximum height
good stability
decent build quality
easy to adjust, ergonomic
cheap compared to competition
not as premium-feel as expensive competitors
plastic phone caddy a bit useless

As you can see, I found a lot to like about this tripod. It fulfils everything it claims on the amazon description. What surprised me most was how close it felt to a ‘proper’ tripod from brand-name manufacturers. You can tell the difference if you have them side by side, but for a product costing threes times as much it’s amazingly close. It shows you how much profit camera kit makers are getting on their products.
The price is currently about 43 with the discount voucher, which I think is an excellent price considering how competent this tripod is at everything. This is great for any beginner or intermediate photographer – there is no reason to pay more for ‘pro’ kit, unless you are using massive lenses that need rock-solid stability.
Five unexpected stars.
This tripod is very well made, with a fluid PAN ONLY head (no tilt).
At full height this holds the camera taller than me. At 188cm, this should be more than high enough for most uses.
Despite it’s potential height, it can pack down to just 44cm in a tiny carry bag.
All leg and column adjustments seem easy but solid and once locked off, there is very little noticeable wobble.
For 45 at time of review, this is an absolute banger of a tripod. Highly recommended.
This is my go-to run and gun tripod. Great build quality and amazing functionality, light and easy to put in your case when you go travelling. Also, you can use it like a monopod. Everything works exceptionally smoothly, strong and stable. Just turning the legs into place feels premium and the quick release is quick release. Recommend i
As a keen amateur photographer, I already own a few light weight tripods, but I had been on the lookout for something more substantial at a reasonable price. I actually received this CAMBOFOTO branded tripod for test and review.
I must say this CAMBOFOTO tripod is not a brand I have heard of before, but so far, I have found it works well for me. It’s certainly feels well-constructed, if just a little weightier than I would have preferred. The strong aluminium legs unsure the tripod is very sturdy even when at maximum length, and 360 Degree Ball Head has a smooth operation when moving my camera. I do miss not have a hand on the ball head, but this can be swapped out with one that does. The three spirit levels ensure you can get a camera completely level if required.
I do have a couple of niggles, first being the levers for the angle adjust, which are not the best I have used, and the second the cheap plastic mobile phone holder, this just seem like an afterthought. The fact is I have used this tripod as a monopod a fair bit with my latest flagship Samsung, so I was hoping the phone holder would have also been of a metal construction.
Overall, this is a well-made and versatile tripod, and very good quality for this reasonably low price point.
I hope you find my review useful and helpful.
I’m not a professional photographer, but I have used a couple of tripods before and I think this one is very good.
It folds down relatively small, is not too heavy and it easy to set up. The legs can extend to be very long, so you can raise the tripod up taller than you’ll probably ever need, or have a very wide and stable base.
I found all of the mechanisms to work very well and it has all of the usual adjustments, so you can adjust the angle in any direction using the ball joint, or lock the ball joint and use a rotary joint on the top to pan the camera.
I tested this with my DSLR camera and it felt very sturdy. I also mounted my phone with the phone mount adapter and that worked well too – the phone felt very secure.
There is a hook underneath the tripod to hang a bag if you need extra weight, and one of the legs can come off as a monopod but I didn’t test this feature.
I’m very happy with this tripod – it’s as good as any other tripod I’ve used and the price was reasonable at the time of reviewing. It looks good and is well made, and has a good carry case.
This appears to be a pretty good quality tripod at this price point. It has a maximum height of 74″ (188cm) when set up which should give plenty of height for most people. When folded, the length is 17.5″ (44.5 cm) and is light enough to carry around. I like that the tripod can be turned into a monopod by removing one of the legs. It comes with a carry bag which has a strap with it. It is easy to raise and lower each leg using the flip-locks.
The 360-degree ball head is good for angle changes and shooting smooth panoramic views and the ball can be locked into a fixed position. There are spirit levels to ensure accuracy of angles. It is very well made and I would consider it a good choice for someone starting to get more serious about photography but not wanting to spend a fortune. The quality is as good as others I have seen that are in a higher price bracket. I have even used it with a laser level using an adapter I already had and it performed well remaining very steady and provided more height than a much cheaper tripod I normally use for the level.
I’m really pleased with this professional tripod because it’s incredibly well-built and lightweight, thanks to its aluminum construction. The ball head is particularly impressive, providing a solid and robust feel. The double-extending monopole at the center reaches up to six and a half feet, which is perfect for accommodating different user heights and allowing for more flexibility in framing shots. The rubber pads on the feet offer excellent grip, and it comes with a handy carry bag for easy portability and storage. It’s easy to set up and collapse, making it a versatile piece of kit that can be used for photography, stargazing with a telescope, or even setting up a laser for landscape gardening. This tripod is an excellent piece of equipment that’s built to stand the test of time, and for the price—currently 47.99, dropping to 40.69 with a 7 discount code—I think it’s well worth the investment and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
A great versatile and lightweight tripod/monopod. It’s lightweight thanks to it’s aluminium construction. The ball head is smooth. Comes with a bag which it can be easily collapsed into. I’m actually using this for a laser level and it’s ideal. Would recommend for laser levelling or photography/telescope usage.
Cambofoto make a good range of camera & video accessories and this tripod is a good example of a decent quality sturdy tripod.
It’s all-metal alloy construction gives it a good balance of low weight/stability and is probably most suited as a travel tripod which can be fixed to the rucksack.
At the top there is a standard removeable quick-lock base plate with ” thread, and this sits on a tilting head, via a knurled wheel to secure it to the Arca style plate. Panning is well damped for smoothness and is controlled by loosening/tightening the red wheel to give the desired amount of panning resistance. The ball and socket head, controlled by a larger wheel, gives all round tilting motion
The centre column is in two sections, with snap lock levers, and the legs are in 4 sections with the same locking mechanism.
The legs open out at three different angles, locking at each setting, and the centre column is removeable for use as a monopod.
On the feet are rubber pads which give good grip.
It comes with a decent quality carry case with handles and a mobile phone holder and some allen keys for tightening the sections.
Overall it’s a good all rounder model which is sturdy enough and light enough to suit everyday use.
This tripod, that is very well manufactured, facilitates the removal of one leg to be used as a monopod.
When collapsed, it fits nicely into the supplied carrying bag, and measures about 45cm and weighs about 1.75kg. The carrying bag has a short, actually very short, strap that can be used as a handle or, fully extended, can be slung over a shoulder… that’s the theory! In practice, it is too short to be used, comfortably, as a shoulder strap.
The legs have flip-locks that can be quickly and easily activated to extend the legs. A central “leg” can also be adjusted to give extra height. This “leg” also has a hook on the bottom for adding some weight for stability. The working height ranges from about 60cm to 190cm. The claimed load capacity is 15kg.
The ball head can be smoothly rotated through 360 and has spirit levels. It comes with an Arca type quick release (QR) plate, making camera changes very easy. A, what seems to be obligatory, attachment for a mobile phone that has gone untried.
All-in-all, a good all-round performer.
A great strong choice for people who need a light weight tripod (or monopod) for using a telephoto lens when out and about. The included bag is ok but there isn’t many ways to mount it to a bag. The included tripod plate is great as it is “arca” compatible so you can easily switch between other tripods and lens that have this style of mount. The entire tripod is made of aluminium so it is light weight but may have a little play in it as the legs wont be as firm as other metals. The ball head is both replaceable and movable to the monopod or other tripods with the standard thread. On the ball head there is a bubble level to help to some level level off the tripod on what surface your on. For a lightweight and starter tripod/monopod combo you could certainly do worse at this price point so it is a recommendation for me.
Just a further note I have tried the tripod with the following setups
Sony A7Rii with Battery grip and 50mm lens
Sony A7Rii with Battery Grip and 200-600mm Lens with the tripod mounted to the lens foot.
Sony A7Rii with 24-70mm lens
Canon 6D with grip and sigma 150-500mm lens
there was little to no sag with the heavier lenses so this is an ideal choice for telephoto shooters.
Top class
What’s in the box
1 x CAMBOFOTO 74”/188cm Professional Camera
Tripod
1 x Carry bag
1 x phone holder/adapter
1 x User guide
Build quality
The build quality on the CAMBOFOTO 74”/188cm Professional Camera Tripod is top class and very premium, with everything built in a way that to erect the tripod takes seconds
Material quality
Again the materials used for the tripod was at a premium level, with only the phone holder/adapter somewhat letting the quality down.
I picked this up for multiple uses, I already have a slightly lighter video tripod which was more expensive, I wanted this for a mix between a laser tripod that is stable and can go really high and a photography tripod for a mirrorless camera. For the money this is quite impressive. It’s not the lightest, however, it folds down into a nice compact size and unfolds very quickly with solid feet that offer great stability for lighter cameras. The hight is fantastic when sacrificing some of the stability but it’s very quick to adjust thanks to the telescopic head. The feet design makes it easy to click and adjust the spread so getting the shot is so much easier and quicker.
The included ball head has a very smooth pan, although the tilt and roll aren’t stable enough for video.
For the price this is fantastic value for money compared to the only slightly cheaper plastic ones. And it performs as well as ones more than double the cost with only a slight increase in weight.
Review of “CAMBOFOTO 74”/188cm Professional Camera Tripod, Portable Tripod 188cm/Monopod 191cm, 3/8″ Exchangeable 360 Degree Ball Head, Aluminum Tripod with 1/4″ Quick Release Plate for Nikon Canon DSLR” currently at 56.99:
This is a very good quality and sturdy tripod that has a lot of flexibility in terms of how you can use it. It folds down to a compact height and isn’t too heavy, and it comes with a shoulder bag to carry it in. Unlike some cheaper quality tripods out there, I am happy to trust my big DLSR’s with large, heavy and expensive lenses on to this.
The design of the leg joint is clever in that it allow the legs to pivot up or down, so you can use the tripod in a traditional fashion, or to have the camera upsidedown close to the ground for macro photography. When in upright position, it has a hook to hang a weight on for extra stability if you need that for something like astro photography.
The included head it a ball head with integrated spirit levels, it is a bit fiddly to get it level, but this is normal for ball heads. The head can easily be replaced with another if you have other needs like for videography.
Overall this is well made and is a very good price for this quality and flexibility of a tripod.
This in my opinion is a professional level camera tripod. It is extremely well made of premium materials and feels very solid when set up.
There are multiple heights that it can be set at and the ability to have a wide variety of angles for attached photographic equipment due to the ball head.
There is the option to have a monopod set up where the central pipe section slides out and is attached to one of the tripod legs which unscrews from the main section. The monopod can then be set at various heights depending on the users requirements.
You also have the choice to “deconstruct” the ball head and use the bottom part to attach a camera etc to the monopod (or tripod for that matter). This helps to keep the weight down and makes it more easily handled but obviously without the functionality of the ball head setup.
The tripod is pretty weighty and that is the one issue I would have when travelling. If being placed in a vehicle etc it is not such a problem but if you had to fly then the weight and size would be an issue for me. Also attaching this tripod to a camera bag / backpack would be challenging for the same reasons.
As long as you aware of the weight and size then I can recommend this tripod to anyone who wants a quality product at a competitive price.
I have to admit, I’m a bit ashamed that I had never heard of CAMBOFOTO before coming across this tripod. However, this tripod is an absolute beauty and a pleasant surprise.
Build Quality
The tripod is exceptionally well-machined, with the ball head standing out as particularly perfect. It feels solid and robust, promising many years of reliable service. Although it’s not made from carbon fibre, the construction is still impressive and well-made.
Professional Quality
While I would consider this tripod just below the professional standard, it’s not far off. The main drawback for me is its weight, which is a bit heavier than I prefer. Despite this, its overall build quality makes it a valuable tool for any photographer.
Value for Money
At fifty quid, this tripod is well worth your consideration. Especially if you are just starting out in photography, it offers incredible value. I challenge anyone to find a tripod of this quality at this price point.
Features
One other standout feature is the double-extending monopole at the centre, when attached to the tripod it reaches up to six and a half feet. This makes it perfect for photographers of any height and is particularly useful for landscape photography.
Conclusion
The CAMBOFOTO tripod is a well-built, solid piece of equipment that offers great value for its price. Despite being a bit heavy and not made from carbon fibre, it is still very well-made and almost professional-grade. If you’re just starting out or need a reliable tripod on a budget, this one is definitely worth considering.
As a photography enthusiast, I recently purchased the CAMBOFOTO 74”/188cm Professional Camera Tripod for my Nikon DSLR. This versatile tripod also doubles as a monopod, featuring a 360-degree ball head and quick-release plate. Here’s my honest review of this product.
Firstly, the build quality of the tripod is impressive. Made from aluminium, it strikes a good balance between sturdiness and weight. It feels solid and well-constructed, capable of supporting my camera equipment securely. The tripod’s maximum height of 188cm (and 191cm as a monopod) provides ample flexibility for various shooting angles and perspectives.
The 360-degree ball head is a standout feature, allowing for smooth and precise adjustments. This is particularly useful for panoramic shots and quick angle changes. The ball head moves effortlessly, and the locking mechanism is reliable, keeping my camera steady once positioned. The 3/8″ and 1/4″ quick-release plates make switching between different cameras and setups a breeze, saving valuable time during shoots.
Setting up the tripod is straightforward, thanks to the intuitive design of the leg locks and adjustable sections. The legs extend and retract smoothly, and the locking mechanisms hold them firmly in place. Transitioning from tripod to monopod mode is also quick and easy, providing added versatility for different shooting scenarios.
One of the key advantages of this tripod is its portability. Despite its substantial height and robust build, it is surprisingly lightweight and easy to carry. The included carrying bag is a nice touch, making it convenient to transport the tripod to various shooting locations. This portability is particularly beneficial for travel photographers and those who shoot on-the-go.
However, a minor downside is that the tripod head could benefit from additional fine-tuning controls. While the ball head is excellent for general use, having separate controls for panning and tilting would offer even greater precision for more complex shots. Additionally, the quick-release plate mechanism could be slightly more refined to ensure a snug fit without requiring frequent adjustments.
Overall, the 74”/188cm Professional Camera Tripod is an excellent choice for both amateur and professional photographers. Its sturdy construction, versatile features, and portability make it a reliable tool for a wide range of photography needs. Whether you’re shooting landscapes, portraits, or action shots, this tripod provides the stability and flexibility required to capture stunning images.
I am an amateur in both astrophotography and nighttime cityscape. Much of my astrophotography involves carrying a tracking mount for my 80mm refractor (500mm focal length). But sometimes I don’t need the tracking. This tripod enables me to travel without the heavier telescope mount and as shown in my picture, I can actually mount my refractor on it. However, I do feel the weight that I have loaded onto it, which was around 5-6kg, is the limit, despite the description claim of 15kg. It IS an impressively heavy-duty tripod for its portability but not for more than 6kg load because I can see the strain is mostly on the single screw mounting plate. Also, it is paramount to balance out the weight, if the camera end is too heavy, then hang a counterweight on the lens/refractor or vice versa.
I love the versatility of this tripod. It can be used for my normal dslr photography or with the phone holder adapter, I can use it with my Samsung galaxy to also do hyperlapses. The phone holder can rotate for portrait or landscape.
The tripod legs have two locking angles. and the neck shaft is detatchable for use as a selfie stick or monopod.
For the retail price, this fantastic value. for the stability it offers.
Top marks
The tripod ball head is smooth, with double locks. All locking knobs are smooth and easy to tighten. The swivel is incredibly smooth too. The azimuth dial is very useful for me too as I can calibrate the tripod to aim North on a compass and then use the dial to swivel my camera and lens to the direction of a predicted moon or sunrise/set.
There are also two bubble spirit levels, but I never can get the hand of levelling them as once I turn the knobs I they always slightly go off and they are in awkward positions anyway. I just simply level with my camera display.
