Am using this, so I can watch films on my large tv screen via my computer. No need to keep changing cables. My tv screen is now permanently plugged into the Pc and with a press of a button, what i see on my Pc monitor can be transfered to a bigger screen. Please be aware this does not split the signal from the Pc but transfers i
I was having problems with my 4K fire stick causing feedback with my TV and needed to move it further away. I was able to achieve it with this and a 3M HDMI cable. Works well .
I have a tv which is quite old and only one usb works. This item makes it very easy to use two inputs and very quickly change between the two.
This was a great buy. Instead of purchasing an additional Virgin box for a second down stairs TV. There is a switch in the center for you to swap from one cable to another. I purchased the cable separately to run to my second TV. The picture and sound quality was not compromised at all.
Nice item. Does what it is supposed to. Took a star off because it doesn’t come with an hdmi cable and it is small so the ports are close together.
This is a very nice unit with a good appearance and feel – with one issue.
I bought it to combine the input of the HDMI cable of my laptop and also mount a Firestick. The laptop cable plug is way more bulky than those in the illustration (which frankly must be the size of a USB C plug), so next to the firestick it is a real struggle to get both plugged in at the same time.
You can do it – but only just !
We had a simple requirement, Mac mini M2 and an used Blu-ray player that we wanted to link to one HD monitor.
Fed up of changing the HDMI leads each time, we decided to give this little GANA splitter a try, and so glad we did.
No drivers or external power supply needed, simply plug int he HDMI leads and it works, with a little LED indicator to show you which device you are showing.
I have read some reviews that state that both ‘inputs’ need to be powered on for this device to work, but that’s not the case in our situation, we can have either or both on at the same time, with video and audio then coming from whatever device we switch to.
It sits out of the way behind the Mac mini, connected to a mixture of 2 x HDMI 2 and a HDMI 2.1 cable, everything works fine.
With a 3 year replacement or refund warranty, there is nothing to fault about this splitter.
It’s essentially a nice device. Very simple and good sized. I have done a quick test. And the switch over although isn’t instant (a couple seconds) it has no issues going to and fro both devices.
For the price so far it really does the job. But will give an update after a few weeks at least of use.
Also it’s not clear, but it does *NOT* come with an hdmi cable so you will need 3 to get it going. Hence 4 instead of 5 stars.
I have an old Panasonic Plasma TV which still works great but only has 2 HDMI connections. This is one less than I now need.
I wanted an external HDMI switch that didn’t take up much space or looked too much like an after thought amongst the other AV devices. The Gana switch caught my eye because it is small, thin and especially because it didn’t need any external power supply. The device can be configured as either a switch to change between two AV devices that are then routed to a single TV input, or a single device input that is then output to two TVs (note only one TV active at a time). I use it as a two device switch to a single TV. The switch is very simple to install/use. Connect the two AV devices to be switched with HDMI leads (not supplied) and then connect the output HDMI lead (not supplied) to the TV. No additional batteries or power supplies are required. Switch on the TV, switch on the two AV devices and with a flick of the switch you can select which device you want to watch. I had it up and running in about 15 minutes.
One oddity with it is that it does seem to want both HDMI devices to be on to enable a switch. This is only a problem when you switch on the TV and the AV device you want to watch is not the one that was being used previously. The other thing you need to do with this device to control what the TV is showing is something many of us, not all, will still remember. You have to get up off the couch and walk over to the telly to turn the “channel” over !
