How to measure your garden tap?
There are multiple garden tap sizes and Hozelock offers a tap connector for every size, but which is the right one for your tap? Measuring your tap and buying the correct tap adapter can be confusing, as the measurement used is sized according to the standard British Standard Pipe, also known as BSP. This measurement refers to the size of the internal diameter of the pipe. So when you measure the outside diameter of your tap’s thread this doesn’t correspond to the BSP – refer to our handy conversion guide to ensure you purchase the correct connector.

We’ve bought to go with our caravan as we stay on serviced pitches. This allows you to be connected to the mains water to your caravan/ motorhome but gives the option to use as a tap to be able to fill a bucket or bowl without disconnecting the supply. This would work in the garden too if you want to connect a hose but have the option to fill a watering can without disconnecting
I have this connected to an outdoor tap on a lower balcony. One connector is used for a hose on that balcony and the other to a connector hose which is on the balcony above. It’s easy to install and use. The tap is mains pressure and there has been no leaking. I bought this one because it has the two independent valves which provide another layer of leak protection vs the version without.
More or less as headline, I wanted to leave a hose at the front of the house so I used this to split the flow. Not really a lot more than can be said, other than it works.
2nd one l’v e bought, better than the brass version in my experience, a very good way to run multiple hoses, but could be improved by lengthening a bit to spread the valves out so multiple water timers could be used.
There was some leakage from the white plastic adaptor which fits to the garden tap, this was reduced with use of PTFE plumbing tape. Once the hose is switched on and pressure reduces there is no issue.
This was bought to replace an old hozelok 4 way adapter which after many years of service started leaking. It had been left on the wall every winter and had never posed any problems. It’s an excellent product. That is why I bought the same one again. In reply to the person who said the inlet for the water was on the right hand side and not on the left as per the photo, didn’t they realise the inlet and the block end are interchangeable?
we had this for 7 years now and the valves open and close reliably.
we alsways left it connected, and now is has started to leak and a fine spray of water escapes from the back side of the unit (main body consists of two parts..
It had a good run and given the prive we paid, I am happy.
This product is good quality and does the job well. But the taps operate in a back to front way. Eg To turn on you have to turn them clockwise. I think this is poor design but Hozelock were not interested.
I bought this to replace a brass effect one that I had attached directly to the tap spout. Despite plumbing tape, that one was never water tight, always leaked and the levers to open or close the flow were really difficult to use as they were small and uncomfortable. It being low down at tap height didn’t help.
This hozelock one has solved all that and is cheaper too. I’ve installed it at waist height so it’s easy to access and I was surprised to find it’s totally water tight out of the box. I bought new plumbing tape but haven’t needed it! The knobs to open and close flow are a bit stiff, but they are much more comfortable and easier to use.
It came with several connectors already, so I just ran a short piece of hose from the tap to the unit and connected everything up.
Very pleased. Ideal solution for me so far.
