after a few problems setting up my camera, I got in touch with the suppliers, and spoke to Jack J, who was very helpful ,explaining how to set up camera. unfortunately my sim wouldn’t work but jack sent me a new one .customer service is excellent, especially Jack J . Very happy and would recommend.
If your looking for security but do not have an internet connection this may work for you.
It works via a SIM card very quick and easy to set up and the quality of the unit and images is also very good.
This security camera catches my eye due to its ability to function without Wi-Fi or electrical power, making it an excellent choice for my farm. It can be connected to a 4G network. The solar panel, included in the package, powers the camera using built-in rechargeable batteries.
The security camera boasts a smart PIR human detection system and delivers clearer image quality than 1080P. It supports up to 128GB SD card storage (SD card not included), allowing you to view and playback important events via the app anytime, and even share real-time images with your family. The metal housing makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is capable of working stably in adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain or snowstorms.
One potential drawback is that continuous 4G data usage may result in high mobile phone data charges.
This “HXVIEW” outdoors security camera differs a bit from many others on the market. Instead of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network, it has a mobile SIM card slot which provides the data/stream. This means it can be used in places where there is no internet router to connect to (farms, fields and so forth) or in places where your router is not in range of where you want to place the camera (like a far side of your garden.)
It does mean you have to factor in the running cost of a SIM card and a data plan, but there are plenty of these monthly plans to choose from at fair prices. The camera supports the Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile networks, which I imagine should provide good 4G coverage throughout the country. I did try a T-Mobile SIM and it worked perfectly, however I would advise you “activate” the SIM in a mobile phone before putting it in the camera. It just makes setting up any plan easier.
I would have liked to have seen the camera be compatible with a wider range of networks, just to give people the option and to take advantage of multi-sim/household deals, but it’s not a deal breaker for me, as I had a T-Mobile SIM anyway. The camera can use a micro-SD card if you want to go down that option, so you wouldn’t have to worry about paying for Cloud storage after purchasing a memory card (which are pretty cheap). This would help off-set the cost of a mobile data plan.
The build quality is very good for the price point, as the camera body is made from aluminium. Its compact and lightweight but feels sturdy, plus it has an IP66 weather-rating so it should last a typical British winter… or a typical British Summer. Installing (as it fitting) the camera was easy, mostly down to it being lightweight, and while the bracket does take a bit of time, you can actually mount it on the ceiling which I thought was a great idea. I would have liked the solar panel to be the same colour as the camera, as it is white with a white cable, while the camera is black. Just looks a bit strange and a bit of a mismatch to me.
The software app (CamHipro) is “ok” but I also use a Noorio security camera, and while it is more expensive than this one, the software does give more options on playback, video settings and so forth. But I suspect more features could be added or tweaked by software update in the future.
For the price, this “HXVIEW” gives you a lot of functionality and freedom, with there being no need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, having a solar panel to keep the battery charged, and being able to mount it on a ceiling as well. The few issues I had were mostly using the software itself, and the mobile network seletion, but like I said its not unreasonable to expect a future update to address this. Otherwise the camera worked well and I didn’t have any gripes with the motion detection or video quality. A very useful and budget friendly option to consider.
Perfect household security It is perfect for inside or outside use
very easy to operate and you can hear the focus.
This product is very, very good quality made from good Quality materials
Its very strong sturdy and Durable It’s lightweight and it has a super ease of use. It is excellent value for your money
A well made camera with very good picture quality both in daylight and in nightvision mode. It has a very good range of motion so can cover a big area.
It has a detection and tracking system that works well and two way audio. It also has very bright leds that act as a spotlight and can be useful for deterring people from going any further when they come on.
The unique feature of this camera is that it uses 4g rather than WiFi so may solve placement problems for people in remote location or if you are covering a big area where WiFi won’t reach.
Setup isn’t a walk in the park but got there eventually you do still need WiFi to get it going initially.
App is good and some useful features.
This is the first camera that I’ve tried that can work using only a 4G SIM card if no WiFi connection is available. I used my own 4g sim card and not the one provided in the pack. I wanted to mount a non-battery powered camera near my garage, where my house WiFi connection doesn’t reach, and this fit the bill nicely.
It’s durable and easy enough to mount. I didn’t have any outlets near where I set it up so I used an extension lead and placed that in a weatherproof connection box. The app took a while to detect the camera, but after that it was a breeze. Simple to use and isn’t prone to crashing.
Image quality is very clear and sharp. Vibrant colour during the day and with the colour night vision (although this takes a bit more data). The monochrome night vision also has a well-balanced contrast that makes it easy to make out what’s happening outside.
The motion detection isn’t overly sensitive, and sends my phone a notification whenever a person walks past or a car drives by, with almost no delay – which is impressive!
Good clear two-way audio, and the siren alarm is loud enough to ward off any trespassers (or grab the neighbours’ attention!).
Overall great value for money. I’ve been using it for almost a month now without issues. Would be happy to recommend.
Unfortunately my mother has had to go into a care home due to dementia this means that her property is left unattended for large periods of time while we get it ready for sale. This little camera is a godsend and I have it set up in the eaves of her home looking over the door and garden.
It’s got a SIM card and a small 64 gig memory card already installed in the camera and a set of tweezers to remove these should you need to. I have removed the SIM card as a 100mb of data isn’t really going to go that far and replaced it with another sim so I’m able to keep an eye on her property while we’re away using the Camhipro app I downloaded from the playstore.
Daytime recording are clear enough for my use just to keep an eye over the property and the night time vision using the IR’s is perfectly acceptable.
So far I’m happy with this setup and it just gives the rest of the family peace of mind that mum’s property is looked after while we’re not there .If anyone goes near the door then I get a notification alerting me and I can just check to make sure that it’s no one that shouldn’t be there.
So overall yeah I’m happy with it, it’s a reasonable price the only pain was routing the power cable but should you want to use an ethernet connection you could always try a POE setup and that way you might not have to run the power lines just one single ethernet cable – although I haven’t tested this!
Hope this helps …..
