This arrives boxed nicely and the product is in a good metal tin – oldey worldey style so targeted at better shops, not just a cheapy generic. You also get a small boar bristle brush. See my photo for contents.

There’s not much smell to the wax/salve. It’s a weird green colour. Ingredients all seem to be natural which is great. Shown in photo on box. I’m not sure what Wood Wax Oil which is the first ingredient is made of so am removing one star just for unclear labelling. Maybe a bit harsh because the product works well, I just like to know what I’m using on my dining table, wood floor, leather, etc.

So I tested on slightly dried out, creased leather and this does look and feel more conditioned. Salve is quite thick and gunky, more waxy than oily, but soaks in well. Did not apply thickly, just enough to cover. Did not shine up much but I think this is a treatment rather than a polish. I applied and allowed to sink in for 5 hours, then came back and rubbed any excess off.

Also tested on hardwax oil finished wood flooring. This I left overnight and then rubbed as well. It had all soaked in so nothing really to remove, and the treated flooring looks much better. It has slightly masked the oil stains that were there although they are still there. In the photo, the treated plank is on the right. I just did one board length because I was worried about it becoming slippery. You can see the colour has come up and I went just over the line onto the next plank to the left. I think it looks much better and will continue to do the whole room now.

With one coating, this has not made this wood noticeably more slippery, while other wood conditioning waxes I have tried have turned the floor into an ice skating rink, death trap. I haven’t done a second coat so don’t know if this would also become slippery with more applications as I guess it wouldn’t soak in as well. Proceed at your own risk! But I’m just using to try to prevent grease stains and replenish some of the wood oils and this it does well.

Because this is a thick wax and gets soaked in, this tub/tin wouldn’t go very far if you had to do a large floor area, but I’m sure you could get at least one normal leather sofa done and an average sized room floor, many dining tables!! I think the price seems fair for what you’re getting.

As you can see the brush loses bristles like most natural hair brushes and anyway, I find it too small and not strong enough for the thick salve/wax. I applied with clean cloths. I’m sure I’ll find a use for it.

    Hope that helps!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice ingredients far as I can tell. Good for leather and wood. See photos
