llano NP-FZ100 18W Fast Dual Battery Charger Set, For Sony A7iii, A7R V, IV, Alpha A7C, A6700, A7R3, ZV-E1, FX3, FX30, 2-Pack 2400mAh Replacment Batteries, Smart Digital Display, Magnetic Snap Cove
As a photographer, when using a mirrorless, batteries die quickly. It’s important to have a decent stock of batteries to fall back on once the previous one goes flat! This charger seems to do a fantastic job with efficiently charging my batteries.
I did initially think this device would act as some for of power bank for my batteries, being able to charge them with the need of a cable. Sadly, this isn’t the case. However, Once the charger is plugged into the mains, my a7iii batteries charge very quickly! Perfect for those long weddings when a good few camera batteries are needed!
One thing that stands out about the charger in particular is the design. I love how it looks like a little compact camera, with the lens area being a display for the charging progress of your batteries.
Overall, if you’re looking for a powerful charger to power up your batteries in a pinch, look no further. This charger will be perfect for you!
The llano NP-FZ100 battery charger/charging case and twin battery set arrived very professionally packed in a shrink wrapped colour printed cardboard box bearing the llano branding.
In the box you get the charging case, a USB C charging cable, a carrying lanyard, a soft carrying/storage pouch, 2 x NP-FZ100 compatible batteries and an instruction manual.
The well designed charging case features PD fast charging for two NP-FZ100 batteries at the same time and as an added bonus also features an SD card storage slot.
The 2 NP-FZ100 batteries supplied have a 2400mAh capacity.
NP-FZ100 batteries fit snugly into the charging slots without any slop and the unit will fully charge both batteries in around 180 minutes, displaying the current charge level on a built in digital display.
The finish of the case is exceptional and this is a good looking modern case.
Possibly in the upper price range for a charger but with all the built in design features and storage this is worth paying a bit extra and still costs less than buying 2 Sony batteries.
Wide Compatibility
This charger is fully compatible with a range of Sony cameras, including popular models like the A7III, A7 IV, A7C, A7R IV, and more. It’s designed to work seamlessly with Sony’s NPFZ100 Z series batteries, and I haven’t experienced any issues or battery errors, which is a relief given the sensitivity of some camera systems to third-party accessories.
Fast Charging Capability
The 18W fast charging feature is a game-changer. It charges batteries about 50% faster than standard chargers, which has significantly reduced downtime between shoots. This is especially beneficial when you’re in the middle of a long shooting day and need your batteries to be ready quickly.
Dual Batteries Included
The set includes two 2400mAh replacement batteries, which offer a decent amount of power for extended shooting sessions. I’ve used them for both video and photography, and they’ve performed admirably, providing reliable power without any hiccups.
Versatile Charging Options
The charger comes with a Type-C input port, making it incredibly versatile. Whether I’m at home, on the road, or out in the field, I can charge my batteries using a wall charger, car charger, laptop, or even a power bank. This flexibility has been a lifesaver during travel and outdoor shoots.
Real-time Battery Monitoring
One of the standout features is the high-definition digital display. It provides real-time information on battery levels, so I always know how much charge I have left. This has eliminated the guesswork and helped me plan my shooting schedule more effectively.
Safety and Durability
Safety is a top priority with this charger. It includes ten comprehensive protection measures, including heat optimization and short circuit prevention, which not only protect the batteries but also extend their lifespan. The charger feels robust and well-built, giving me confidence in its long-term durability.
Magnetic Snap Cover
The magnetic snap cover is a nice touch, keeping the charger and batteries secure and protected when not in use. It’s a small detail, but it adds to the overall convenience and ease of use.
It truly impressed me. It’s compact and lightweight. You can charge 2 batteries at the same time. The screen is very clear. The lid is magnetic and it keeps your batteries from falling out. Also, it has a spare SD card slot. Built quality is excellent. It is overall, impressed with this charger. Recommend it.
These batteries are pretty amazing. Often times with third-party chargers/batteries for cameras you can run into loads of issues. In the past I’ve tried some that haven’t charged well, haven’t had decent capacity, haven’t been recognised by the camera’s firmware… the list goes on.
No such issues here though, everything seems in order and I’m really impressed with them. The charging case is a nice touch and seems to work very quickly.
I was cautious about getting these, but I needn’t have been – these are great for the money. Recommended.
This battery charger set for my Sony camera is excellent. The fast charging capability is a game-changer, ensuring that I never run out of power during a shoot. The batteries hold a long charge and are durable. The charger is compact, with a smart digital display that shows the charging status clearly. The magnetic snap cover is a nice touch, adding an extra layer of protection. Overall, it’s a high-quality set that provides great value and reliability for my photography needs.
PROS
-lid means that it is very portable (I have other chargers with no lid, I wouldn’t be able to transport my batteries while in them)
-feels well manufactured and designed (if a little heavier than I’d like)
-easy to read LEDs to indicate charging status of each battery
-high input of 18W (via QC or PD)
-included batteries have a decent capacity, and work fine in my A7IV
-thoughtful storage for SD cards (storage only, this is not a card reader)
-tested one battery to exhaustion during a timelapse session: 1176 photos (no autofocusing, LCD turned down to low brightness)
CONS
-just a charger, case holds no power itself, it has to be plugged in to charge the batteries
-higher power charging comes with a downside in battery lifetime
-no port cover for USB-C port (if this is going to be portable, then it’s going to encounter dust/dirt/sand/moisture, best to have a cover for that port)
-a bit pricey
NOTES
-Ok, I’ll give kudos to llano for an innovative design, but it’s a battery charger with a lid. I have other chargers that do all the same things (rapid charge, LEDs) for a third of the price.
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
This kit comes with two high-capacity 2400mAh replacement batteries, basically doubling my shooting time. The included 18W fast charger is a great idea. It gets my batteries back up and running in no time, so I can get back to capturing those fleeting moments. And, the smart digital display shows me the charging status and battery health at a glance. This charger and batteries are designed specifically for Sony Alpha cameras and they fit perfectly and work flawlessly. Moreover, the magnetic snap cover on the charger keeps the dust out and protects the charging ports.
Great battery and charger set. Nice sleek design and good build quality throughout.
Both batteries can be charged at the same time. Display screen which shows battery information such as charge status and capacity percentage.
2 handy little SD card slots for safe storage.
Good value for money.
Using this dual battery charger has made managing my camera batteries much easier. The fast charging capability is a significant time-saver, especially during long shoots. The digital display is clear and provides real-time updates on battery levels, which is incredibly useful. The additional charging options make it versatile, and the included batteries hold a good charge, ensuring I never miss a crucial moment. It’s a reliable and essential tool for any photographer.
Don’t let the price put you off – this is a cracking good piece of kit, 2x FZ100 batteries in a dual fast charging case, which charges up to 50% faster than what you’re probably used to. And it will charge two batteries up simultaneously – telling you how fast that charge is going in with that nice frontal digital display.
And how good does it look. That’s a nicely thought out design for people who obviously love their cameras.
Not much else to say apart from that it gets a massive thumbs up from me.
llano NP-FZ100 18w fast dual battery charger.
This was on sale for 125.99 when I got it. This battery charging case is a great way to charge two batteries at once, and also keep them safe and carry them with you, along with the ability to take a spare SD card too.
I didn’t initially realise that this actually came with two batteries included in this set, I thought it was just the charging case itself, but this is much better.
The case looks great, it’s styled to look like a camera with the lens being the digital display showing how much power both of the batteries have and the button on the front is what operates the display.
The case feels nice to the touch, I like the way that the lid is magnetically attracted to the case, so it stays shut and you don’t have to worry about it popping open.
It connects via a USB lead and it charges the batteries really quickly.
This is a great package, brilliant way to charge batteries faster and carry them with you when you’re out and about.
The charge case and batteries are brilliant, they are definitely at the higher end price wise but you are getting good build quality are very good performance.
The case has charged every battery I’ve tried without any issues and has done so at a much quicker rate than my standard charger.
The batteries claim to have a slightly higher mAh than my original batteries but they feel about the same in use, not a complaint at all, they last well.
I recommend this, it works fantastically, pair it with a good quality powebank and you can shoot all day with just a few batteries.
The NP-FZ100 battery fits a range of Sony DSLR/mirrorless cameras, but not all so its essential to check compatibility obviously.
The kit comprises a tough plastic hard case (11 x 8 x 4cm) with flip up lid and houses two batteries plus a slot to hold a full sized SD card (note that it’s NOT a ready but simply a convenient and safe way to store a spare card).
A USBC to USBC cable is included which is plugged in to charge the batteries, with the front display showing the charging level as a percentage. Once fully charged the charger automatically shuts off.
The overall design is both practical and attractive, being styled to resemble a compact camera, the front display which shows battery charge appearing to resemble a lens.
Also included are instructions and a soft pouch.
I’ve tested both batteries in-camera and they perform as good as the Sony originals in terms of shots per charge, as is the case with many other non-branded batteries.
Excellent value and a secure way of storing/charging the batteries.
At 325g, the llano NP-FZ100 18W Fast Dual Battery Charger is NOT flimsy, the casing is heavy, solid and does not get warm when charging both batteries. The case exterior finish is silky smooth, and continues into the clearly legended internal space, with slots for 2 batteries and a SD card slot to the right, a nice touch.
Accessories include the almost mandatory soft carry case, a wrist strap to attach to the charger case, and a USB A to C cable for charging, a mains adaptor is not included.
It isn’t only the case that is of Premium quality, the 2 batteries included in the set claim a capacity of 2400 mAh, slightly greater than the Sony standard battery. These batteries work flawlessly with the latest firmware on my Sony A6700 camera, unlike some more budget friendly offerings. (I removed the battery from my camera to photograph the kit, it had been in my camera for 3 days of occasional shooting photos and video)
My first impression of a premium product (it is designed to present an aura of quality) was not shattered by poor performance during charging or use of the batteries, The case is novel, good internal design, and should survive the rigours of many field trips.
Yes, I’m impressed by it all, Ilano have made what appears to be a product of unusually good quality – I look forward to seeing if this continues over the next year or so.
Ok, I feel like I should call out the price of this Ilano charger, which, for someone who used to be happy with a cheap (and slow) battery charger, seemed to be fairly high. I can tell you now after using this charger and seeing just how fast those batteries charge – if you ever find yourself in need of a quick battery replacement, this is the charger you need. Full stop.
This is an immaculately presented and well packaged charger, where you’ll also get a USB-C cable with a decent length to it, TWO Sony batteries, a little leather-like strap, and a soft case.
I can confirm that with the latest a7iv firmware update, these batteries do not present any error messages about compatibility.
I will also point out that these batteries fall slightly below the original Sony capacity that I received with my a7iv, they’re 2400mAh. This might knock up to an hour off your usual shoot time, but you now have two additional batteries along with a fast charger to keep them going all day long.
There’s a real premium feel about the charger, the strap, and even the bag. Everything in this box genuinely “felt” amazing to touch.
For full disclosure I received this for free as part of the Amazon Vine program, the opinion given is mine and mine alone and has not been influenced in any way.
Now for the good stuff…
I should mention I received 4 of these for 4 camera systems I have so the review on each will be identical as other than the battery size they take, they all work the same way.
This is perhaps the greatest invention ever for photographers and videographers ever , a super fast charging case with spring loaded slots for 2 SD cards, I have been racking my brain and I just can’t think of anything negative to say at all.
The fast charge isn’t an idle boast, much faster than the OEM charger and I have some batteries that charge direct via USB C and it is still faster than them.
This particular case came with 2 batteries and first impressions are good, they do compare favourably with other batteries I own but of course this is something that can only truly be measured via extended usage.
Knowing what I know, would I have bought these with my own money?
Absolutely, in fact if there is a Fuji version I shall be placing an order very shortly, I have run out of superlatives to describe how useful these are, no more carrying separate chargers , a supremely neat solution.
As someone who does carry too many batteries it would be nice perhaps if this also had an output port so it could act as a power bank in emergencies, not a criticism, just a suggestion.
