This Lightning McQueen is basically like a giant pull back car. You pull back, let him go, and off he drives. There is a switch on the bottom to make him go straight or to go into drift mode like he’s racing. Drift mode is actually pretty cool. He does this very realistic looking drift to the side while he’s going. My kids loved that feature. It definitely makes the toy something special. As a parent, I appreciate that the mechanism that makes the car go forward is pull back. I’m so very over having to change the batteries on all the toys every other day. This toy Lightning McQueen would have gotten a full five stars except for the stickers on him. The wrap/stickers that decorate the car are badly applied and even folded over or puckering up in places. And let’s be honest – little cardboard cones are not an accessory. That’s just package display stuff that ends up in the trash.
If your kid loves Cars and Lightning McQueen, then this is a pretty neat toy to give them. It’s a pretty basic pull back and go car toy, but with the Cars IP it makes it a bit more special. The build quality is okay – I didn’t notice any significant decal issues, but this is not the highest quality Cars toy I’ve seen. At any rate it’s good enough to play with. The included cones are pretty meh, but it’s something to run over I guess. Overall though it’s a fun pull back and release car toy, and well if your kid loves McQueen, then this is the one to get.
Both my 7 and 4 year old like playing with this large McQueen car. They get a kick out of watching him “drift” as that’s a pretty unique feature in a toy car.
The car is nicely sized, it is actually a bit bigger than I was expecting. It is easy for either of them to use solo without adult help.
The cardboard cones were kind of disappointing as they are cardboard and don’t last long
I have a lighting McQueen obsessed toddler. His birthday is coming up and he doesn’t have this one so he’s going to flip. I’m not too sure about there being a remote control in the box. I didn’t see one on first glance. I like the size. This would be the biggest one we’ve been able to find so far on Amazon. The colors are perfect. No assembly necessary since it’s just a car and signs. Probably one of his best presents so far.
Very good Lightning McQueen toy. This is one of those hold down, pull back and release toys. Theres a switch that you can set for the toy to either go straight or turn/drift. The toy is very light and just feels very cheap. Overall, still a good toy.
My little one is a HUGE Cars fan so I had to get this Mattel Disney and Pixar Cars Lightning McQueen Toy Vehicle & Accessories.
He loved anything and everything McQueen, so it’s a hit with him. But definitely not his favorite McQueen toy. The cones are useless, just cardboard that barely stay up. We actually have already thrown them out. But my little one uses different cones we have from another toy.
It’s nothing special – no bells and whistles. Just a pull back McQueen car. But, if your little one is like mine and loves anything Cars/McQueen related, then they will love it!

My grandson is car crazy. He’s also Lightning McQueen crazy. So I thought I would order this car for him. To be honest, I almost didn’t pull the trigger after reading some of the reviews. However, the car I received did not have issues with the decals. I agree 100% with the negative comments about the cones, though. The cones are just 4 pieces of cardboard and, honestly, pretty useless. I would also agree with other reviewers who were surprised by the overall cheapness of a Mattel-branded toy.
As for my grandson, he loved it. He’s not generally a fan of pull-back toys, as he likes to control them himself. But, he was happy with this car.
My toddler is 16 months and loves cars so this was such a perfect toy for him! It’s easy for him to be able to pull back on his own. The cardboard cones were kind of a let down with this toy and would have been nicer if they were plastic ones instead as the cardboard won’t last and will be easy to lose. Overall a pretty cute toy but nothing fancy!
