This is quite impressive. I did find building it a bit of a challenge though as the instructions were okay my incompetence is probably to blame.
It does look like the photos and it does feel and look quite good. The mechanism works fine.
I have showed it to a few Pokemon fans and they were a little envious.
This is an absolutely fantastic building set!
Eevee is undeniably one of the cutest Pokmon characters and that’s been captured here. The level of detail in the finished model is amazing and definitely an eye catcher. She actually looks like her show counterpart which is great and her happy expression is lovely (it is painted on but it’s fine). The legs, tail and head all move well too and the running motion operates smoothly as does the handle to make everything move.
Building the set was a fun, though sometimes challenging, build. It was enjoyable in a good way though. The instructions are great, probably the best I have ever seen on a building set as the manual is a huge size with big bright pictures and clear step-by-step directions that make the assembly process straightforward and enjoyable. It’s like a manual for a piece of flat-pack furniture which is great. All the bags are well labelled too which helped a lot.
There are one or two tricky parts to the set and some of the connections can be a bit difficult. I struggled to get the ears on without breaking them for example and some of the gears take a while to attach (and some pieces needed a fair bit of force to get together) but with a bit of patience and time they were navigated through (I think in total this took me about 6 and a half hours to build) and it’s ultimately rewarding.
If I had to pick out any negatives it would be that it does feel a little fragile but then again it is for display and not a toy so it evens out. I do think the suggested age range of 18+ is a little silly. I think this set would be fine for anyone from the age of about 12 as it’s not that complex a build and all the mechanical bits are fine.
Still, this is a fantastic building set. The end result is very impressive and the model is beautiful to look at, the building process is engaging, it fits well together and is the right side of challenging. Highly recommended. This is excellent.
Myself and my son are currently building this, we’ve not quite finished yet but I thought I’d get a quick review up.
So far the build is fantastic, it’s intricate and fun to do, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Once it’s fully built I’ll update my review but so far we’re really enjoying this.
This is a great model for the pokemon fans to build
Over 1300 parts to put together so it will keep kids busy for a good few hours
It says 18+ but kids 12 and over will love putting it together
Instructions are easy to follow and parts are all laid out well
Great that it moves once built too and you can see all the parts moving once built
each part is well made and clicks together very well
would take a good 6 hours plus to build so silence for hours lol
overall recommended and a great present for poke fans
We love building blocks and we have a whole bunch of kits from easier kids’ vehicles and play sets and more complex adult-oriented floral and architectural pieces. But this Pokemon inspired model is one of the best we’ve tried. The way it’s built is really interesting, and the end result is just as impressive. It’s less complex than other mechanical builds and the motion is rather rudimentary so I think the 18+ rating is overkill (but it was a huge hit with the young’uns). The display looks great and would be a great collectible for any Eevee fan for sure.
The overall finished model is pretty cool. The pre-printed face is a little peculiar looking but as this will be sideways on when displayed this isn’t an issue. The movement mechanism is all a bit meh to be honest and it is very simplistic when compared to the other model I have in this range.
The building experience is pretty much an exercise in frustration though. The instruction booklet is a series of images showing which pieces are needed and then sort of showing where they fit. This isn’t always super clear as the drawings are 3/4 angle so you can’t always see the whole area and have to presume you are fitting the piece in to the correct location. The clutch on the pieces isn’t always particularly good and the smaller pieces can be particularly difficult to site correctly. I did have some sections collapse when attaching them to the central portion of the body because they do not hold well together.
Had quite a few spares of the smaller pieces which is always nice as if you drop one of those trying to find them can be a nightmare. The only problem I had was when building the legs as one of the pieces was the wrong type (instead of being a 2×1 plate with a hanging round to take a pin it was a 2×1 with a hanging cross piece to take a rod) this means I have one front paw that consistently drops off until I raid my stash to find a suitable pin.
Took up a good amount of my day in three building sessions and breaks here and there are definitely required to both give your fingers a break and your brain as I did find I was having to deeply concentrate to try and figure out the instructions.
The figure looks nice on display but is a little fragile feeling. Overall this is a 3.5 Star model but I have been generous and rounded that up to 4 Stars.
Number Of Pieces: 1366
Approximate Price Per Piece: 0.06
Build Time: 5 Hours
This is a Lego-like product with 1,366 parts constructing a Pokemon Eevee model. It isn’t really a toy and once assembled would be best left on display.
The box the set comes in is larger than I expected and the model itself is pretty big. The set comes with clear instructions although construction it takes some time simply because of the number of parts. I like the automaton motion achieved by turning a hand crank on the side of the model, and the exposure of the cogs doing this through a clear panel on one side of the model base.
I’m a bit less keen on the price which at almost 80 at time of review seems costly. This is an officially licensed product though.
Overall a good model for older Pokemon fans. Four stars.
