This is a great lens for the Osmo Pocket3 but it does require some additional time in post. First off the lens then post.
This 1.2 anamorphic lens is a well built excellent lens that offers a lot of opportunity for some great effect shooting. The flare is properly proportional to the light source and the magnetic mount is safe and secure. I did have a concern about the lenses (3) being Resin not glass but those were put to rest after the first project. All in all a great lens that does require some additional work in post over the common 1.33 or 1.55 or else you will have just ugly footage.
ALL THE MAGIC HAPPENNS IN POST
There seems to be a lot of negativity towards this lens that I feel in unwarranted concerning the final results. I have to believe that most of this comes from users that are using standard Anamorphic De-Squeeze included with most editing software based on 1.33/1.55. Although close if using 1.33 for this 1.2 lens, it is still an ugly fail.
In your editing software you have to be able to custom change the resolution presets for the 1.2 which if you can change, is a simple process that all you need is a calculator and a few seconds to get your real edit to resolution over common presets. This is not a one and done, the calculations have to be done for each resolution i.e. 4K, 2.7K, 1080 and so on. Cool thing is that once you have the simple math, save it as a preset to use anytime you use this lenes on your Pocket3. There are a number of videos that show how to custom set resolution so I’m not going to get that far into he weeds.
I’ll post some video in the future, all that I have now is client video that I cannot share and that footage is just what it should be, wide screen footage with excellent anamorphic flares.
