I am a frequent traveller so having a portable monitor is essential. These are massive dual monitors. I still need to get a carrying case for these (as 18.5+ inch laptop bags aren’t that common).
The good:
– brightness is great
– refresh rate is 100hz, which is ideal (60hz would look awful)
What can be improved:
– color accuracy isn’t the best, but looks decent with some adjustments in the OSD
– 1080p (would have been amazing for it to be 1440p, but I cannot knock stars for this)
I ran into issues where the monitor would randomly go black – turns out the power adapter provided was defective, I swapped it with one of my 20W chargers and it worked fine. Keep in mind the charger they provided is 45W, so I would recommend using a charger at least 45W or higher.
The Newsoul Portable Monitor Touchscreen has proven to be a practical addition to my workspace. With its 14-inch display, it complements my main monitor well, simplifying multitasking for various projects. The quality of the display is reliable, offering clear colors and sufficient contrast for everyday tasks. The touchscreen functionality is accurate, facilitating more efficient navigation and interaction. Additionally, its VESA compatibility is convenient for setting up a sturdy and integrated workspace. The absence of USB-C power does mean it occupies another power socket, which is a consideration but doesn’t overshadow the overall utility of the monitor. For anyone looking to pragmatically enhance their productivity, this monitor is a dependable option.
Overall it works fine, includes PSU, HDMI and USB cables. Touch works and picture is good with no dead pixels. The listing covers two models – the non-touchscreen and the touchscreen. The non-touchscreen, despite being shown in multiple pictures standing up does not stand up :-(. There is no stand so you have to use VESA to fit it to a wall or desk stand. Maybe that’s what everyone intends but the photos do show it standing up. I ordered https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QBK42B9 as a stand which looks a bit silly with a small monitor but it’s cheap and works. Has USB output ports too.
I wanted a monitor to use my new Raspberry Pi 5 as a standalone Linux PC, and touchscreen sounded like a useful feature. I’m not disappointed, the picture quality is excellent, and the touch feature works perfectly with the Raspberry Pi (although being such a small monitor and 1080p you do need small fingers!). For the price you really can’t go wrong with this monitor, especially as there was a 20 off voucher to claim too.
I’ve given “gaming” 1 star as I really can’t comment, I don’t do computer games. But if you’re looking for a touchscreen monitor, either as a main or an extension to an existing PC, I can thoroughly recommend it.
