I haven’t used this as intended, however I have no doubt it will be effective as a pond pump barrier bag. This is because it has a strong construction with fairly fine mesh. I like the simple drawstring closure at the top too.
I’m using this to store, drain and dry off swimming pool filtration balls and due to it’s design make it really useful for that purpose. If it had a zipped closure then I would have also used it to wash the balls in a washing machine too, however this bag allows the balls to dry off after washing.
Unfortunately we do not have a mains drain in our back garden despite have a 2000 gallon pond. As such when cleaning the filters I have had to place a pump in a dustbin which is piped to the drain at the front of the house. Being filters they contain a lot of debris and this bag ensures that none of it is drawn into the pump and allowed to settle in the pipework restricting flow to the front of the house.
