Nothing Ear (a) wireless ear buds with Active Noise
Nothing Ear (a) wireless ear buds with Active Noise Cancelling, Bass Enhance Algorithm and up to 42.5 hours of listening time – Black
SMART ACTIVE NOICE CANCELLATION
Up to 45 db. Ear (a) automatically checks for noise leakage between the earbud and your ear canal, then applies more noise cancellation to make up for it.
POWERFUL 11 MM DRIVER
The extra space gives sound waves more room to vibrate. With two new vents, airflow is improved inside the bud. For less distortion and richer overall clarity.
WIRELESS HI-RES AUDIO
Playback up to 990kbps and frequencies up to 24 bit/96 kHz. Compatible with LDAC* codec for high-resolution streaming over Bluetooth. * Requires devices that support LDAC
BASS ENHANCE ALGORITHM
Ear (a) enhances low frequencies in your music in real-time, elevating bass-heavy sounds so that you can hear every detail.
ADAPTIVE ANC
Switch between 3 levels of noise cancellation. Or let Ear (a) take control. By selecting ‘Adaptive’ in the Nothing X app, Ear (a) automatically applies the right level of noise cancellation according to your surroundings in real time, so you don’t have to.
CLEAR VOICE TECHNOLOGY
Ear (a) isolates your voice from everyday distractions so calls on-the-go feel like face-to-face conversations. With a new talk mic and extra airway on the stem for wind to pass through.
DUAL CONNECTION
Stay connected to two devices at the same time. Play music on your laptop then seamlessly switch to answer a call on your phone. Effortless.
UP TO 9.5 HOURS OF MUSIC
Ear (a) can deliver 40.5% more non-stop play time on a single charge.
FAST CHARGE
Charge for 10 minutes and deliver 10 hours of music playback (with ANC turned off).
Love the transparent styling, snug comfy fit and clear, punchy sound. Noise cancelling is excellent for those noisy underground journeys. Bass is deep but not distorted or bloated. Connects easily to my iPhone. The app is also good for tuning the sound to your preferences via EQ and personalised sound profiles (even taking into account your age). Nice case and the earbuds slot in easily for charging. Very happy with this purchase as I was carrying my Bose NC700’s with me everywhere and these are now used when I need something more pocketable. Highly recommended!
Absolutely love these, sound is fantastic design is great and stands out. I was recommended these by my partners son who is a sound engineer/music producer as I wanted earbuds with great sound quality at a reasonable price. If you don’t want to pay for a brand then you can’t really go wrong with these for the price.
Having owned (and still own) multiple pairs of ear buds, from Soundcore to Bose, I can safely say these have the best sound quality in an earbud. The bass is amazing and the mids and highs are crisp.
The ANC isn’t the best on the market but if I am travelling I will just use my QC Ultras but these are my new daily drivers.
You won’t get better for the price.
I’m very very happy with this purchase. Outstanding quality for such reasonable price. I use these with iPhone and Mac Book pro. I’m actually prefer this to AirPods that I owned prior to this.
I think AirPods are also great product don’t get me wrong. But It’s so impressive that you can get matching product for half of the price. They don’t feed cheap or anything like that — its a great design and outstanding satisfying built quality.
I wanted to replace my old Beats Flex earphones that I’ve had for years (battery is finally giving up).
These came up on a list of recommendations, and seemed to fit the bill of being a significant upgrade but not breaking the bank.
They were very straightforward to set up with my iPhone, and the straight-forward app is fantastic for tweaking settings.
Music sounds so much richer, I’m noticing things in my favourite songs I never picked up previously with my old earphones.
Brilliant experience so far, and I really recommend these.
This feels like a big upgrade from my AirPods Pro 1st Gen which I’ve owned for years but the voice cancellation started to make static noises. But I wasn’t willing to pay 200 for the new AirPods Pro 2nd gen, especially for my use case.
I bought the nothing ear (2) but returned them due to the poor battery life, but these Nothing Ear (a) solved that problem, and iterated on everything else. Great value here.
The highlighting feature for me is the noise cancellation. Wow! But transparency is mid, but that’s not an issue for me because I don’t use them when I know I should be aware of my surroundings (for me at least).
Would I recommend? Subjectively, I’d say absolutely! Objectively, I’d say evaluate your use-case, and critically assess your criteria for wireless earbuds.
Took a punt on one of these online “what’s the best” reviews as a “if your budget can stretch a little bit these are awesome” and I have to say, wow, these things are amazing.
I’ve had a lot of headphones earbuds etc as I tend to lose them more often than I should and I would happily say these are the best I’ve had for this price level. They’re light years ahead of the millions of cheapy options on the market and at 80 are a total steal.
I can’t remember being so amazed at a sound quality before, totally over the moon and now I’m seriously interested in the rest of their gear!
Nothing 120 cheaper
Sound quality – nothing ear
Comfort – tie
Workout security – nothing ear
Noise cancellation – AirPods Pro 2 (BUT, these are still fine. AirPods have the some of the best noise cancellation in the market right now. With the nothing ear, you will be able to still hear voices, and other sounds while nothing is playing on the earphones, but sounds like sound of a car when inside are all super quiet. When music is playing u can barely hear anything but the music, maybe VERY quiet sound of people speaking. U won’t notice!
Transparency mode – AirPods Pro 2 ( still AirPods have literally the best on the market with this but the nothing ear are still great, I’d say the only bad thing is the voices are picked up a bit higher and more grainy but only by a minimal amount. Again, u won’t have trouble with this if ur not an audio engineer
Software – nothing – loads of customisability on the nothing x app. Very advanced and simple eq settings, bass booster, noise control, low latency mode, personalised eq, Spatial Audio etc
Controls – AirPods (BUT, WOULD BE A TIE IF VOLUME COULD BE CHANGED ON NOTHING EAR AS WELL)
For over 100 cheaper, amazing option, would recommend and, not even kidding, worth every penny.
Oh also, this look ten times cooler than AirPods
These are good, and I mean REALLY good! Coming from the Sony WF-1000XM5’s, these in my opinion fit and sound way better, with good software and intuitive controls. If you want some punch to your bass, these will deliver! With an 8 band EQ you can customise to your preference and dial back the bass if you wish. Battery life is decent, even with LDAC enabled. Case is a little on the large side, but these are too good for that to be an issue. A good example of a product that can easily compete with the larger brands, for significantly less money. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed!
Can’t complain about the sound, battery or connection for the money at all. Decent bass and volume and a good app to change settings for your sound preference. The case feels a bit cheap and could break with a drop so I bought a 3 rubber case for it.
For anyone saying they pause randomly when moving your head, turn the in ear detection off in the settings cog in the app. It’s not happened to me once after changing this.
It is very good earphone with just around 100
Small and comfortable wearing it.
It can auto stop playing if you put off from your ear and resume playing music when you put it in your ear.
ANC is awesome and can connect its apps for configuration.
However the case is so cheap made, think it must be damaged if you drop on the floor and cannot control the volumn on the earphone.
Good buy, half price on Apple air pot pro but having 80% features on it.
Happy using it daily
The sound quality of these earbuds is fantastic when paired with the Nothing X app there is enough specialisation for EQs for me.
The noise cancellation is good enough especially when you compare it to other earbuds in the same price bracket.
The design of the earbuds and case are fantastic and the presentation in the box is second to none, they feel premium and fit well.
I do not think you will be disappointed if you buy them unless you are comparing directly to the market leaders at double or even triple the price.
Sound really nice for the price, not very bassy but I’ve gotten used to that and now it’s actually a really enjoyable sound signature to me. Love the wireless charging feature. The case is convenient, not the smallest, but still nicer than my momentum tw2 case. Anc and transparency mode could definitely be better.
What is insane is that I am writing this review after I took the case out of the washing machine after a 3-hour cycle. Not only was it closed and without a scratch, it works perfectly and charges the earbuds. Wireless charging also still intact. Mad. Glad I didn’t put the earbuds themselves in, don’t know if that would have made it worse. But I’m honestly stunned right now, kinda felt like the case was a little flimsy but it has proven to be built extremely well.
The sound is really good for the price. I’ve tried lots of in ear headphones and the sound quality is up there with the best. I actually prefer the sound to my Sony XM5. They are light and comfortable and battery life seems decent.
The only downside is that anc isn’t brilliant. Pretty bad actually. But I’m not too bothered, as the isolation is good. Hopefully they improve with firmware updates.
App is great too – the headphones sound even better when you personalised the sound by doing the test.
Pros:
Excellent Sound Quality: The sound produced by these earbuds is surprisingly clear and well-balanced. The bass is deep without being overwhelming, and the highs are crisp.
Comfortable Fit: The earbuds come with different sizes of ear tips, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your ears. They stay securely in place, even during workouts.
Stable Bluetooth Connection: I haven’t experienced any dropouts or connectivity issues while using these earbuds. The Bluetooth pairing process was quick and hassle-free.
Long Battery Life: The earbuds themselves hold a decent charge and can last for several hours of continuous use. The charging case also provides additional charges on the go.
Touch Controls: The touch-sensitive controls on the earbuds work well and are intuitive to use for adjusting volume, skipping tracks, or answering calls.
Cons:
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider before purchasing these earbuds:
Microphone Quality: The microphone could be better. While adequate for short calls, the voice quality during phone conversations is not as clear as I would like.
Limited Noise Isolation: The passive noise isolation provided by the earbud design is moderate. They don’t completely block out loud external noises.
Overall Impression:
In summary, are a solid choice for anyone looking for affordable wireless earbuds with good sound quality and comfort. They are ideal for everyday listening and workouts, offering a stable Bluetooth connection and decent battery life. Just be aware of the microphone quality and noise isolation limitations if these factors are critical for your usage. For the price, these earbuds deliver a satisfying listening experience and are worth considering for casual users. However I returned mine because ANC is important to me.
These are without a doubt the best price to feature for value earbuds on the market. Out of the box the sound is really balanced and sounds rich. Call quality is very good indeed and copies with external sounds well. The controls are easy and customisable. They look awesome and the case is very comfortable in the pocket unlike ear1/ear1/ear. There’s no wireless charging, but that’s understandable. They charge fast and last a decent time. They are very supported and now with the integration of ChatGPT, they are extremely functional. Honestly there’s no better out there. I’m really glad I got these and 100% prefer them to mu ear2 and airpod pros. If your into Nothing products but don’t need all the fancy EQ stuff and wireless charging, these are the ones you should get. I have many Nothing products, and I think this is one of, if not the best product they have released. Good job Nothing, these are worth every penny.
