My first tablet from Samsung so far but does the job easily. I didn’t get it because of the pen but that one can be used sometimes and it’s fun to draw and write a stuff.
Nicely built tablet and an improvement over my previous Samsung tablet (possibly an A6?). They’ve clearly upped the build quality and it looks more like my daughters ipad now with a lot less plastic. Use it with the pen to do building surveys rather the old fashioned way with paper. Would’ve liked the screen to have been a bit clearer in sunshine but that is always going to be an issue. Charges quickly, fast, good storage capacity and battery life. Great sound compared to previous tablet and nice picture quality when streaming. I don’t use the camera but it’s seems OK.
This is great and is a very compact tablet and as long as you don’t expect it to the run the latest games you will be very happy. The screen is good as well as it’s very bright and responsive and the battery last’s a good day or so as I’ve been using it all the time so that’s good as well. Apps run smoothly as well so I have no complaints and is great value especially for the price i paid of 390. Overall very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend for someone wanting to upgrade their tablet.
A bit larger than tablets I’ve used previously, the S9 feels very robust and well made. While it is easy to pack when travelling, I did have to invest in a new messenger bag to allow me to carry it easily for day to day use.
The on board storage is huge and easily copes with any data I throw at it (my last tablet was a constant fight for space) and, so far, app performance has been very good, though a few have required me to move to the S Pen to prevent occasional freezes. The S Pen itself is a revelation, with the handwriting recognition in particular being amazingly good at picking up my terrible handwriting and converting it into readable text.
Overall, an excellent product and highly recommended.
I have held off on a Samsung purchase for a long time after finding their old android UI bloated – I was looking for a not-huge-screened-but-highly-specced tablet for gaming on, however, and rather than gambling on a cheaper alternative that might not see any software updates, I bit the bullet and splashed the cash on this, figuring that if I disliked the UI I could install a 3rd party launcher (Nova is my favourite for my phones) or if it couldn’t do what I needed it to I could return it.
My son cracked the screen in the less than 24 hour window it took for the case and screen protector that I belatedly decided that I needed to arrive, so I would recommend purchasing these alongside the tablet, but fortunately the function was not impaired and the crack is mostly invisible.
The tablet is fast, has a very decent screen and the UI is much improved on the old phone UI that I abhorred, so I am happy to recommend with one star deducted to factor in that it is not as robust as might be hoped.
Charging is surprisingly fast with a USB PD charger, and acceptable with an older QC charger – no plug is included, which I don’t mind because I prefer to have a multi-port charger occupying a single socket than 3 different chargers anyway!
Notably WiFi connectivity on this is faster, with lower latency than on my old tablet, and while I would have preferred the specs of this tablet in an 8 or 9″ device, such was not available, and the size does make reading smaller text much easier.
All in all, if you have the money, buy it, but buy a case and screen protector at the same time and install them before your bairn can get near to it!
Samsung support Dex mode on this tablet, which effectively makes it into the nearest thing you can get to a laptop without buying a laptop. I never switch out of Dex mode.
The big problem with Android tablets is the obnovious Android apps written by mean programmers who can’t be bothered to make them tablet-compatible. A fair number of essential apps only work in full-screen portrait mode. Ordinarily, that means a tablet sitting on a desk in landscape mode has to be picked up and manhandled to use it for such apps.
Well Samsung invented Dex to fix that problem. Turn on Dex mode and go into the options in the Settings app where you can tell it to force obnoxious apps to behave nicely. You can then get your apps to work as resizable pop-ups in landscape mode, or move them to either the left or right half of the screen. Dex typically remembers sizes and locations of popups for when you bring them to the foreground again. Also it lets you pin apps that you want to always be on top.
I had a cheaper tablet that tried to provide some of these features, but Dex, only from Samsung, is the best, and now I have it, I won’t live without it.
Beyond that, this tablet has a fingerprint reader (a very good and quick one), which I find to be absolutely essential, in fact a few apps (typically ones expecting to be on a phone) won’t install on a device that doesn’t have one.
And if any review every tells you that the S9 FE is slow, they are SO WRONG, it is fast enough for everything I have thrown at it. (OK, I am a grown-up, I don’t spend my life playing games on it. So I can’t vouch for game-playing on it, but it is superb for YouTube, Netflix, Outlook, Word, Excel, Just Eat, etc etc etc.)
Yes it’s not cheap. But you sure as hell get your money’s worth. Beautiful screen. Robust construction. Buy it a decent case!!!
If you have a Samsung phone, you can access your phone calls and SMS texts from the tablet, which is super-convenient.
Oh and I nearly forgot (as I don’t do much handwriting or drawing) that it has a very good pen which magnetically clips into a channel on the rear. For many, that (and the associated app Samsung Notes) is no doubt a big selling feature. As you will realise, what matters more to me is Dex, and the interworking with a phone. Each to his own.

I’ve been only the lookout for a great cheap tablet that I could use as a stop-gap to allow me to read ebooks and edit my photos on the go. Right from the get-go, this product has been fantastic, it arrived promptly in a well-packaged box, fully sealed, and easy tabs to open the box. Upon opening the box you are greeted with the product wrapped in a paper wrapping that is neatly sized with pull tabs to lift the product out of the internal cavity that holds the item securely. Underneath the tablet, you find a set of two slim branded white boxes that contain the USB c charging cable and instruction/warranty booklet. Also below the tablet is the multi-touch stylus in complimenting colour of the tablet. In my case I chose the silver variant which comes with a white stylus, however, it also comes in grey or light green colours, which are also fantastic. Getting to set up the tablet is just as simple and easy, upon powering the device it loads the brand’s logo and eventually walks you through a step-by-step wizard, that takes only 5~10 minutes at most to complete. The device comes with 50-60% battery charge, plenty to set it up and get to use it. So far I’ve managed to easily load my ebooks to the tablet as it runs on the Android operating system and has access to a host of apps (including free apps) via the Play Store. Its screen has fantastic resolution clearly displaying the text on screen from various ebooks. Also, the processor is powerful enough to multitask between several apps, I managed to max out at about 8-10 apps before you notice some lagging but still usable. The battery also lasted a good while, I managed to recharge it to full and was able to use it for the full day, and still had some charge to use it the next day before recharging. The stylus is also lightweight, just like the tablet, and is perfectly balanced in sensitivity. It even has an onscreen bubble that guides the user as to where your stylus is pointing on the screen when it is in close proximity. This makes it great for editing photos, as you can see where your stroke with impact the photo before even applying the stroke by touching the stylus to the screen. It’s so responsive that you can even control the thickness of artistic strokes based on the pressure applied. Since it runs on Android OS it has access to lots of free and paid apps via the Play Store to aid my photo touch-ups and editing tasks. The screen is smooth and clear as a display that is bright and clear. It’s a perfect companion for my travels and my photography adventures.
I’ve had other Tablets by Samsung and I have really enjoyed using the S9 FE+, set up was very easy, I connected the S9 FE+ to my old tablet and used the app to swap all my data over. this was painless and very straightforward. I signed into my accounts and I was away.
The larger screen is fantastic, I really noticed the difference over previously having a standard sized tablet, the larger screen is great for running multiple apps/ screens side by side. The S pen has more of a natural feel of a pen so makes writing or drawing on the screen fantastic, I like the simple gestures of the s pen good to use too. the write text to print function is good most of the time, although it didn’t always identify the text I’d wrote correctly, but the delete by drawing a line through text is great. The camera was good in natural light but struggles a bit indoors I found, but I probably wouldn’t choose a tablet to take pictures unless it was a last resort or taking pictures of a A4 pieces of paper for the text scan feature in the camera app. Watching/Streaming films and tv was very good with the screen being large and vibrant. the AKG powered speakers are clear and powerful, although i mainly use earphones which are connected fast through Bluetooth and have good sound. Battery life is very good, charging takes a while though but it is a large battery so is to be expected.
My only grumble is the same with all Samsung devices, no plug is included, just a USB-C to USB-C cable, if you don’t have a plug with a USB-C input this is going to be an extra expense. overall this is a great tablet and i would highly recommend
I was definitely really happy with the tablet. I liked the sleek minimal packaging – disappointed there is no plug but understand most items just come with a charging lead like this one (inaddition to an S pen, and the manufacturers details) The feel of the tablet overall was quite solid, sturdy and felt premium. I loved the colour and liked the fact I can place the S pen at the back easily with it being magnetic. The screen quality is great with really clear, vivid colours which I could see when watching TV shows, films and youtube clips. The screen size aswell was great, meaning I was happy to use this to watch things instead of my laptop. The speaker is sufficient but not as good as I thought it would be. It is fast enough for me when opening multiple apps and tabs in the browser. I love the fact I am able to operate it just as I can with my Galaxy phone and the connectability is fab! I was really happy to note there is expandable storage too which I did not think would be present given how the phones are going Camera quality was good enough for zoom/ video calls and basic photos but I would still stick to using my phone for better quality in my opinion. Battery life was good in my opinion and so easy and fast to charge especially using a fast charging Samsung plug. I think overall it is a good sturdy quality product but perhaps a little costly for what it is? I would recommend it for someone looking for a reliable product and I am definitely happy to have it as it fits perfectly into what I need from a tablet and my lifestyle. It also looks great too when I use it and fits perfectly with my other Samsung products.
The Samsung S9 FE is the first time I’ve purchased a mid-tier Samsung tablet rather than a flagship model. It’s significantly cheaper than its flagship sibling and packs a lot of features into that price point. First, unboxing. The tablet sits snugly in the box along with the included S Pen and Charging cable. There’s no included mains adapter but for me that’s a positive, I don’t need any more! Build quality is excellent and it feels like a premium device. A pleasant surprise is that it’s hiding a micro-SD slot – Thank you to Samsung for keeping this feature! Setup was a breeze thanks to the setup assistant. Simply scan a QR code from an Android phone and it’ll transfer Google accounts and Wi-Fi settings. From initial switch on it was 5-10 minutes until the tablet was ready. Performance of the tablet has been good. This covered watching videos, playing games and general app usage. Don’t expect to be playing the latest games at max settings but it can handle most at medium with good FPS. The 1440p IPS display is bright, vibrant and supports HDR content. Black levels are pretty good considering it’s not an OLED. I love the pressure sensitive S-Pen, Samsung have clearly put a lot of work into the features. Being able to annotate PDFs without a pdf editor is super useful. Connectivity is also good with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth and support for USB-C dongles. However, I was disappointed to find there was no support for external monitors via USB C. You can do screen mirroring via Wi-Fi though. Overall I’m very pleased with this device, it offers a lot of bang for the buck and it’s a very good all round device. I can see us using this device for years to come.
The S9 FE+ is a very well-balanced device. and offers decent value for money. The larger of the two S9 FE siblings, the plus designation brings a bright 12.4″ screen, a RAM and battery boost and an additional ultrawide camera on the rear.
Battery life is excellent, and the tablet delivered a great experience with movies (the sound from its stereo speakers is a standout), games and most importantly for me, note taking.
The included S-Pen is lovely to use, resistance on the screen is fluid and natural and there is no noticeable lag. Writing to text worked well and enabled me to capture what I needed without having to worry about going back correcting to ensure more accurate translations. The included note functionality is good, but add in Nebo and you have a portable note powerhouse.
My wife has the S7 FE, and this is a worthy upgrade – I love the addition of waterproofing, the only thing missing versus the older tablet is the ability to HDMI out via the USB-C port, which is a shame, but not a dealbreaker as wireless connectivity is offered in abundance.
Set-up was a breeze and made even more foolproof if you have a Samsung phone (simply scan a QR code and you are off). The S9 FE+ really is a brilliant all-rounder. Samsung has refined its offering to the point that this device does everything well, without unnecessarily overspeccing.
Lightweight, pleasant to hold and use – we will enjoy the avenues this will open in the coming months, including the Pen-Up drawing challenges.
So finally got the Samsung s9FE which is an upgrade from my previous tablet, it came in a white box with a picture of it with a pen on it. When you first open the box, the tablet is there in a white protective sleeve. Under it is the S pen with two white boxes. The first box is a white USB-C to USB-C cable, and the other box is a quick start booklet and a silver SIM tray/micro SD remover tray. I choose to go with a 128gb version of the tablet has I didn’t need anything with too much memory, has I can just install a SD card into it for the bigger memory. Not many tablets or even phones have this now. It does have 6GB ram, which is more than efficient for my needs. I’ve mainly used it for media consumption. I’ve got a large variety of applications on the tablet which just work with the tablet. The screen is bright and easy to use and has auto dimming, It’s been especially good when I’m going to bed and want to watch something. I don’t have to lower the brightness, or I’m walking around, the brightness will automatically go up. I also have a Samsung phone which means I can send and receive calls send messages but also share things between the two devices. Furthermore, I can take a picture with my phone or start writing something on my phone and then just share it to the tablet and edit it on the tablet with the S Pen. I’ve managed to so far customise the tablet using Samsung good lock and a few other applications that can be downloaded via the Samsung store to customise it. From the lock screen to how notifications appear on the screen. I’ve also been using the second screen function which integrates the tablet and a laptop to use it has a second screen, which has been excellent. I can also use the S pen has a mouse and highlight or click on the screen to go to certain things when in this function, or just the mouse between the screens. It is a learning experience when moving the mouse from one screen to another, but you get used to it. My experience so far has been positive. The only bad thing I have is that there is no headphone jack on the tablet, but not many new tablets do.
Straight out of the box it looks great, feels well made and fits easily into the hand. The aluminium casing felt like a quality touch and it comes with the added bonus of a S Pen, that handily attaches to the sides or back by magnet. It also has a Micro SD slot for added memory should I need to add any it was an easy and quick process to set up with just a few buttons to click and it integrated seemlessly with my Samsung phone. All I needed to do was place it next to my tablet in order to copy over my settings and anything else I wanted to. I like the aspect ratio of the screen. The landscape orientation lends itself nicely to streaming movies/TV which a squarer screen doesn’t always do. I have used it to stream quite a bit and so far I’ve been impressed by its performance. The pictures are sharp, the colours are vibrant and the sound from the dual speakers is great. The processor was quick and could handle all I asked of it with no lagging or stuttering and I am impressed by the battery life too. It lasts more than long enough for everything I need to do before needing a recharge. As well as streaming I have used it for occasional web browsing, emailing and online shopping, all of which it has done flawlessly For a casual tablet user like myself I would say this one is perfect. Whilst not having the high spec of the the more expensive models, aimed at the more serious user, this has everything I need and more and from the short time I have had it it has exceeded my expectations.
Unboxing
The Samsung tab 9 box features barely any wasteful plastic, relying on cardboard and paper to keep the tablet safe. The tablet doesn’t come with a charger- just the usb c cable, so bear this in mind if you are new to the world of usb.
Setup
If you are already in the samsung ecosystem setup will be a breeze. Within a few minutes I had wirelessly copied over the settings from my galaxy phone, choosing which bits to transfer and which to omit.
Hardware
The tablet is solidly built with a bright high quality screen, with a small bezel. It seems to weigh about average for a tablet of this size, and uses a widescreen format rather than a 4 by 3 ratio, which means most video media will fill more of the screen.
The speakers are very loud , but note there isn’t a headphone jack, so you’ll need use bluetooth for personal audio. Physical buttons include on off button (also has a fingerprint sensor to make it quicker to log on) , and a volume switch. Also included is the s-pen. As an ex galaxy note user I’ve always wondered how Samsung’s pen interface would fare on a much bigger screen and I’m pleased to say its intuitive, giving a greater level of accuracy and creativity than non stylus tablets I’ve previously owned. The battery is lasting several days so far, with fast charging available.
Software
Anyone familiar with Samsung’s ui will be at home – the tablet runs like a large phone. Both Samsung’s and Googles app stores run on the device so plenty of app choices, with few pen enabled apps already installed- checkout PenUp for a fun time drawing and coloring ( specially if you have kids!).
Summary
This is an excellent mid range tablet which should cope well with most people’s demands, with the s-pen bringing an extra level of finesse for those who use it.
Unboxing experience:-
Box consisted of Device, S Pen, USB Cable, Ejection Pin and quick start guide (available in multiple languages).
Setup Experience:-
Setup was really easy and if you use Google already just sign in and configure the device as you wish. And if you don’t, you can start up and it comes with pre installed apps to get going.
Usage Experience:-
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is a clear improvement on its predecessor, the processor and battery have also been improved, making it a strong contender in the 11-inch Android tablet market. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and great for watching movies, playing games, or working. Plus, with the S Pen included, it can do all the note scribbling and drawing we want. One impressive aspect is that tablet is thin and lightweight.
Pros
One UI takes good advantage of the large display
Extendable storage to 1 TB
Scrolling through the screen on a web page is really lovely. It is fast and responsive and the user interface is very intuitive
In addition, plenty of accessories are available to turn it into the perfect ultra-portable laptop replacement (I have no problems connecting my wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard to use it for typing emails and notes)
Cons
It can be a little cramped and underpowered if you’re trying to do some intensive multitasking (multiple apps running lead to hang issues on couple of occasions)
Charging cable was supplied but without a plug. With a type C on both sides of cable there is no convenient way to charge
Fingerprint sensor should have been placed on downside of the screen and not on the right side of the tablet
Overall Summary:- Great tablet with great specs for an awesome affordable price.
I have been using the Galaxy Tab for a few days, the initial set up was very easy, as I own a galaxy phone it detected another galaxy device was nearby and showed a QR code on the screen, scanned it with my phone and it set up my accounts ready to use.
I have used the tablet for work, creating documents and presentations and for meetings. The S-pen makes taking notes and smart select very easy, the camera is excellent so I use this always for video meetings and the overall performance has been great..it has never struggled to keep up with my switching apps and editing.
I use my tablet to watch movies/series more than my TV these days, the screen quality is great and sound very crisp and clear.
The battery life is great and holds charge very well, I charge it every second day and even when the battery is low the overall performance does not drop.
I would highly recommend this tablet for anyone, whether you are upgrading or buying your first galaxy tab this is the one to go for! You will not be disappointed, its a great allrounder that you could use for work and personal use as the clear display, fantastic camera quality, smooth switching between apps, smart select, s-pen, overall motion smoothness, performance and battery life make it an all round great tablet.
