I have made a water feature for my front garden using this solar fountain. The quality is very good, and, it looks really nice. There are 2 nozzle attachments, the sun regulates the performance of the flow, in the dayligh
This is my second fountain for my birdbath; the first one was one of those with a flat solar panel you had to stake into the ground, and I much prefer having an all in one unit like this one.
You get two nozzles, but this totals 6 streams as each nozzle has three positions which change the water output.
The solar aspect of this fountain requires direct, bright sunlight. Cloud cover will result in the water stream not being powerful enough.
So, a solar pump in Scotland is always going to be a challenge (!) but undeterred I set this up in about 10 minutes – very easy to do indeed, good instructions included. You can change the nozzle head as there are two included and there are four ‘straws’ that you have to clip onto the unit to help it stay just on the top of the water in your birdbath or pot or whatever you’re putting it into (these can be cut to size as well to ensure a good fit). We are notoriously lacking in blazing sun up here but even on a cloudy day with minimal sun peeking through I could hear and feel the solar fountain trying to work, so although of course full sunshine will bring maximum results I have hope that even on a fairly sunny day (most of our summer) we should be able to get some kind of water feature working in our garden with this. Easy to set up, definitely workable with not full on sun and I will report back when its in situ in the garden at the weekend if its not matching up to my very hopeful expectations.
I’ve had two of these solar powered fountains in the last couple of years, and they have been so disappointing — pathetic jet; useless in all but the strongest, most direct sunlight; quick to block; lack of buoyancy.
This solar powered fountain addresses most of the issue exhibited by the others.
Foam ring on underside provides excellent buoyancy
Powerful, adjustable jet
Multiple smaller solar cells improves performance over fewer larger ones
Two spray-pattern adapters
Adjustable spray patterns (3 for each adapter)
One issue that remains, though not as bad as previously, is that bright sun is still required. Nevertheless, the improved jet is so much better, and provides a pleasant relaxing garden ornament.
