Nothing like the old spirograph I knew… much more interesting and lots more fun. Seems quite robust and should last well in the hands of a 5 year old.
I deducted 1 star as the box was torn… this didn’t damage the toy but it isn’t how I’d like to give a gif
This has been used loads, easy to use, really sturdy.
You get a pad of paper that clips in which is brilliant. Everything clips inside the case so its great for travelling.
Guide book with fun designs is easy to follow.
Worth the money and would buy again as a gift for other children.
Bought for a gift for an 11 year old and he has been enjoying making patterns and colouring them in. I think it would be tricky for young children to keep still while you use it.
The wife used to often comment about her spirograph when she was a kid, so spotted this and thought, why not?
It’s changed a little bit over the last 50 ish years, but still the same idea, and still good fun, and I enjoyed it too!
This is advertised as ‘original’ Spirograph. Whilst it is similar to the original, it is not as good. The original had 2 straight racks while this version only has 1 – so some of the more complex patterns cannot be produced. The size of the paper has also shrunk. The original paper was 12″ x 10″ (305mm x 255mm). The putty method used to secure the paper isn’t as robust as the pins and cardboard base used with the original. The plastic tray isn’t as sturdy as it could be – especially as it’s base is now used as the platform for using the wheels. As you turn over the storage tray to use, the wheels etc have to be secured otherwise they would fall out. Removing and replacing these have to be done very carefully otherwise it’s too easy to either damage the retaining tabs or the wheel teeth.
It’s good to see Spirograph back as I enjoyed it when I was a child – but its production could be improved to make it more sturdy for use.
