The item was easy to fit and easy to set up, although I do already have tapo cameras so that may have helped. The picture quality is great day and night. What is impressive though is the battery life.

I have tried several different doorbells and eventually I stuck with ring. However ring have now increased there subscription which I no longer want to pay. Tried many alternatives and in my opinion I would say this is 10x better than ring. The camera quality is immaculate (if you have strong WiFi) battery life seems really good so far as well. I did struggle with the motion detection and how sensitive it was, however I changed the settings in the app and it’s exactly how I wanted it to be. My only slight complaint is the app is very laggy and doesn’t always notify me. Probably just has a few bugs that need fixing. I highly recommend this doorbell!!

Replaced an existing Ring doorbell with this as it doesn’t require a subscription to store videos.
Works better than the one it replaced, need to see how long it will last before the battery requires recharging.
Also have the option of buying a spare battery

Sadly this camera DOES NOT support ONVIF.

Regardless of this its a decent camera at a good price (99). I use other Tapo cameras for home surveillance and i’ve always liked how they function, the app is decent and the other cameras (which do support ONVIF so I assumed this might too).

The camera comes with a HUB which is easy enough to install and comes with an SD Card, which will store a few days of footage. You can subscribe to the cloud storage (which is probably why they opted not to support ONVIF)., but for my needs and the recording I have on other camera’s I don’t feel the need.

Although this is a good quality product it didn’t quite come up to expectations so I kept my existing door bell & added the TAP camera which has now made it all more versatile

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis doorbell camera is excellent – works well with Alexa too as when it is pressed, she says someone is at the door.

Motion detection is great and night vision is great. No issues with the connectivity, sound is excellent also. Even the torch on it is quite bright & illuminates our garden path well.

Battery lasts us on average about a month and a half but we are constantly in and out of the app, having people walk by and we have all the settings enabled together with the motion detection set at its highest.

All our cameras are Tapo and I would not move from them at all. App is also so easy to use and really easy to add additional cameras/devices.

The item itself is brilliant and I would review it 5 stars only the battery only lasts a few days so If I had to do it again I would buy a wired one.

Contents of the Tapo Video Doorbell Camera 2K5MP kit.
Kit includes door bell, hub, wedge, Sheets of Labels, screws, adhesive pad, wall plugs, and instructions.

I opted for this doorbell as I’ve already got Tapo devices, and have found them easy to setup and maintain. They are all made well.

First thing to note, it’s quite big, certainly twice a standard doorbell push button.

It’s well made, and has some good features.

As others have said, the installation is quite straightforward, but you do need to perform it in the correct order, ie. Hub first, then add door bell.

Some comments referred to having to label the button, as it’s below the camera, (unlike other manufacturers whose button is central to their device); well Tapo must be listening as the kit comes with a handy sheet of labels saying “Press Here” in 10 languages. The actual button does have a symbol of a bell on it, so really, they are probably not needed, but it’s good to have if required.

I’ll be configuring the detection settings, sensitivity, and Zones over the next few days, as these will depend on the amount of notifications I receive, but based on them so far, it works extremely well.

Overall, and excellent product. Well done Tapo. Agai

Installed this today and overall very happy. Bought primarily for local video recording to replace a Ring doorbell and its subscription charges. One thing niggling me though, everything I’ve read suggests that this has an anti theft alarm feature but for the life of me I cannot find this setting anywhere. If I remove the doorbell from its mount, which anyone else can do as well, no alarm sounds. Have I misunderstood this feature, has anyone else got this working? This issue aside very happy with the overall performance, video quality and local recording but the alarm feature or current lack of it is taking the edge off a little.
EDIT. Update to say after further searching I found the setting for the alarm and now have it set, still too early to comment too much on the overall performance but so far seems ok.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI already have several Tapo devices in use, so the choice was a no-brainer. I like the fact this doorbell connects via a hub (supplied) with a slot for microSD. I used a 128Gb card, which has proven to be more than I really needed. The SD card stores all the video recorded by the doorbell, so you don’t have to subscribe to any services, (unlike the “other” doorbell brand) which is a big bonus.

It came in very useful while we were away on holiday in Australia, we could see when stuff had been left for us and when our neighbour popped round to check all was OK.
The unit is a big old thing, vey boxy and rectangular, with a camera lens at the top, a sensor in the middle and a big switch-like button at the bottom. This is the only gripe I have, as a lot of visitors thought the centre sensor was the doorbell button, which meant I have had to place a sticker on the actual button so the less than intelligent of our species can actually use the thing. I suppose it’s because the “Other” brand does have a button in the middle… (“ring” any bells?)
The only other gripe, (and this must affect all video doorbells) is that the lens gets big splodges of water on it when the wind and rain is in the wrong direction, of which we seem to have had an awful lot.

This doorbell is battery powered, and the manufacturers claim it lasts for about 90 days before requiring a recharge. That seems to be if you have the night light switched on too, which I don’t need as there are two wall lights either side of the door. As a result, I am down to 22% since powering it up at the end of November. A lot better than 3 months.

Since we got the doorbell, I have added a couple of Tapo cameras and temperature sensors, and smart buttons and light bulbs to the system, all controlled by the same Tapo app which is dead easy to use.

    Summary:
A solid unit, great video and picture quality, very good battery life, easy connection to the supplied wireless hub. Shame people cannot tell what a button looks like!
