The Strangers: Chapter 1 [Blu-ray]
The Strangers: Chapter 1 [Blu-ray]
Words from the Director – Renny Harlin
“I believe that people have been drawn to dark and terrifying films now for over 100 years because of the simple reason that we all want to feel something when we consume entertainment. And we all seek the therapeutic experience of facing our worst, darkest, most secret terrors in the safe environment of a movie theatre. We can scream, cry, hide our eyes or even laugh at the uncontrollable and life-threatening scenes that unfold in front of us.”
Been waiting a while for this trilogy so am pleased to say that “Strangers Chapter One ” doesn’t disappoint. A great looking movie with great colour palettes give it the feel of the slashers of the 80s. The girl gives a great performance and as as usual the guy turns out to be pretty useless. There are some genuinely jumpy moments when our weird family of slashers turn it up a notch. The creepy setting gives it a feel of genuine isolation which adds to the build up of suspense. It doesn’t really seem to have the atmosphere of the first “Strangers ” movie but that’s probably because we kind of know what to expect. The ending was very interesting and really looking forward to seeing what the other two movies have to add to the story. A great little effort and so glad that I’ve finally been able to watch the start of this genuinely creepy story.
