I wouldn’t call myself an avid darts watcher, more of a ‘grew up in the 80s Bullseye fan’. I’ve kept half an eye on the sport, and used to play the odd time, both as a kid, and in the pub with mates. As such, I knew around half of the names in this deck. It’s a who’s who of the sport, both current and traditional, with household names like Jocky Wilson alongside today’s breakout stars like Luke Littler. Of course, regular superstars like Phil Taylor and Raymond Van Barneveld are there too.
It’s your standard Trumps game, with a few modern bells and whistles, meaning you can play the traditional rules or tweak things slightly. The photos of the players range from mid-play, to celebratory, to photo-shoot, and each comes with a mini-bio and set of stats.
This set of top trumps follows the usual strong and durable quality of most of their sets. They come in a nice hard plastic storage case and the cards themselves are well made.
The set shows a range of darts players, young and old, so would suit a range of age groups if you are a fan of darts in general.

This is an interesting set from ‘Top Trumps’, it has darts players from across the years – Luke Littler from recently and Eric Bristow from my era. I got this set more as a novelty than anything else as kids won’t necessarily follow darts – this will give young players more of an ‘even chance’ when it comes to winning cards. I’m not sure that this set will be played too often, but it’ll be great for long trips to keep kids busy.
The photographs and text print is of high quality.
Clearly portrayed statistics and factual information is represented throughout the set of cards in a well designed layout.
The font sizes used is well proportioned to the size of the cards.
From memory I am fairly sure Top Trumps came in a smaller clear plastic case made of a front and back plastic tray which was just big enough to house the cards. This new packaging seems a little over the top and resources heavy on the amount of plastic used. I am left wondering why the old packaging/storage for the pack of cards which seems more environmentally friendly is not still used?
It is great fun to play Top Trumps. The rules are straightforward. Educational too, due to the supplied facts about each player.
I think the design of the packaging needs a rethink. As it is rather chunky and to me seems excessive. Although I do get the built in hanging hole to display the product on a prong of a display stand. Keeping the set of cards in the plastic packaging makes it more bulky than it needs to be, to carry the pack around or to pack into a pocket or bag. The cards do need some protection to avoid scuffs, tears and avoiding getting wet.
This is a fun version of Top Trumps, and it’s completely up to date, so even recent viewers of darts will enjoy it. It obviously includes all of the greats as well. Like all Top Trumps games, there is no set up required or complicated instructions. It’s portable, easy and fun to play. Highly portable so great for travel. Suitable for any child (or adult!) who has a decent grasp on which numbers are bigger or smaller. I’ve only given this fewer than five stars because the printing on our version isn’t perfectly lined up – a few of the colours are a little out of sync making the smaller writing a little difficult to read. Otherwise, I’d recommend these.
I’m no spring chicken and I remember how much I loved top trumps when I was a kid, both my 7 and 10 year old kids love Top Trumps too. One thing I believe any Top Trumps fan realises is that the more obscure the topic the better the game can be. My favourites as a kid ended up being trains and warships, and neither of those topics interested me outside of Top Trumps. This Darts set though is awesome, I loved watching darts when it used to be at lakeside and this has so many big names that visited that oche. “Let’s play darts’ Both of my kids no nothing about the darts players featured on these cards yet can’t help shouting out their nicknames and hearing my daughter saying ‘The Power’ Taylor is the best just makes me smile.
If you like Top Trumps or you like darts (and even if you don’t) these will still bring a lot of joy.
My family has been playing Top Trumps in various themes for decades. It’s an easy game to carry around or pick up at any time to pass a bit of time. My dart playing granddaughter’s eyes lit up to see this version and she could hardly wait to get the cellophane off. Good game, good price, good fun.
This trial pack was a great holiday time filler. Top Trumps is such a simple game that can be applied so easily to just about any theme you like, even darts! Even very young children with no interest in the theme can soon learn the categories needed and a bit of place value knowledge gets them soon involved. I am no darts fan but the players it was aimed at were very pleased with the variety of players included from very VERY old (i even knew a couple of 80s BIG names) to far more recent. A bit of sneaky sports facts and reading learning just by playing. Bullseye!
