I use my wheel only on XBox. I come from a belt driven wheel. Don’t expect all features to be available. This is known fact! Don’t blame TB. If you make an educated purchase you will love it.
Feedback is excellent and load cell is enough for me to push my chair slightly so just ok.
I chose the Velocity one race for its 7.2nm direct drive wheelbase and its load cell pedal. The race management display and button box were intriguing, but less of an inducement. My wheel is silent, strong, and powerful. It’s feedback is detailed when you turn up the force feedback to 100% on the wheelbase and then turn down the force feedback in the game to minimize clipping. My pedals are mounted to the solid platform of my GT Omega racing stand, so the flex that reviewers worry about does not occur. The load cell brake is subtle and refined if you turn it to 100% sensitivity. The button box had a plastic feel, but maps easily to different functions. The slight flex in its bracket does not trouble me at all when I’m in a race.
I am using the rig on my PC. The software is not yet refined. It’s much better to make your settings on the race management display itself rather than through the software on your computer. Getting the in-race telemetry display to work with each game is tricky, but when you get it to work it’s cool. Some use of the software is required for this, and for the essential firmware updates.
Racing on AC, ACC, IRacing, Beam.ng, Dirt Rally 2, and WRC all are immersive and fun. Can’t get Forza Horizon 5 to recognize the wheel yet, but I have hope for future updates. I also hope Turtle Beach comes out with other wheel options, such as an F1 yoke and a round drifting wheel.
As someone starting out that didn’t want to invest into any one ecosystem (Fanatec, Logitech, Thrustmaster, Moza, and others), this unit fits my needs. While at $649, this unit isn’t cheap, you can find yourself spending well over $1000 for setups from aforementioned brands if you want the same features and quality of build.
WHEEL:
So from a value standpoint, I think this fits right up there by giving you tremendous amount of value for the money. You get a proper steering wheel with direct drive that spins infinitely. There is no mechanical moving part to wear over time since the magnets are what you sets the end points of the turns. There is a huge range, from your basic 270-degrees to whatever amount you see fit and it’s all done on-the-fly using the built-in screen. Otherwise it does spin infinitely. Awesome stuff, considering other brands have physical stops (like Logitech G Pro) and you’ll half this price just for wheels from other brands.
PEDALS:
The pedals are also nice feeling and made of high quality metal components. The brake pedal is adjustable and uses the high-end stuff from other brands for pressure instead of travel. The harder you press, the harder the brakes bite. Like a real car. Very nice for the money, considering a similar setup is $349 from Logitech for just the pedals!
OVERALL:
I love this unit. The fit and finish are good enough for the price, the drive is strong and adjustable on the fly, as are everything else on the unit. You can toggle between Xbox and PC (don’t forget to do that each time), and future games will likely become more compatible with this unit if more people buy.
Those are my initial impressions. I will update once I have it put to more use.
