UGREEN Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter for PC, USB Bluetooth Dongle
UGREEN Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter for PC, USB Bluetooth Dongle Receiver, EDR and BLE Modes, Long Range, Plug & Play, Mini-Sized, Supports Windows 11/10/8.1 for Controller, Headphone, Keyboard, Mouse etc.
This USB Bluetooth Adapter (Model No. CM591) arrives in a UGREEN branded, gripseal style bag. Inside the bag is the adapter along with an instruction sheet and other certification.
The adapter itself seems well made and I had no issues pushing it into or taking it out of, the various USB sockets I tried it in.
The device is plug and play on Windows machines, and due to this was easy to set up.
In use it worked well, however there were a couple issues.
Firstly, the adapter uses Windows’ own generic Bluetooth driver, rather than its own. As a result, you can only take advantage of Bluetooth 5.3 on Windows 11 machines. If you are running Windows 10, you are limited to Bluetooth 5.0
Secondly, due to its size, the range is not fantastic. It’s fine if you are next to it or within a couple metres. But as soon as you get further away, or have a wall between you and your computer, it loses connections.
So long as you are fine with these limitations, then this is a perfectly good USB adapter at a fair price. But because of them, I can’t give it a full 5 stars.

If you’ve got an older computer or are using a fairly basic motherboard then a Bluetooth adapter like this is really handy to connect your computer to a number of Bluetooth peripherals. Being from UGreen it is not only excellent value but is also from a brand you can trust.
Windows recognises the adapter immediately and quickly loads up the drivers. I tried some headphones and a keyboard. All connected without issue. In terms of range I tested in the next room and the headphones appeared to work flawlessly. However your mileage may vary.
A good value adapter.
This is a great value bluetooth adaptor from a brand I trust. It is bluetooth 5.3, however, the latest version is 5.4 so this should be a consideration.
It was plug and play in Windows 11, no drivers to worry about. If you have an older on-board bluetooth device it would be recommended to disable it in device manager first. No issues connecting to my soundcore headphones and sound quality was great.
I’d be happy to recommend the dongle if it fits your requirements.
Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter from UGREEN. This affordable adapter allows you to connect Bluetooth devices to older PC’s that don’t hace built in Bluetooth capability. It’s quick and simple to set up and it works well. As with other UGREEN products its a reliable item which is well designed and it performs as expected so I’d happily recommend it.
Ordered this for use with a Windows 10 pc where built in support for Bluetooth never worked. Adding this cheap adapter to a spare usb A port and in seconds I’m up a running with Bluetooth. Tried Sony and Samsung buds and they work a treat. Haven’t tried a controller or wireless mouse yet but I’m not expecting it to be an issue.
Decent range but does become an issue once you’re downstairs (pc upstairs) and likely about 10+ metres away. That’s about what I find though with other Bluetooth devices.
Well worth the money for a very compact and versatile Bluetooth adapter.
If you don’t have built in Bluetooth already you just need to plug this in and its ready as it uses Microsoft own drivers instead of its own which does limit it to windows 8.1 or newer but even 8.1 is limited to 4.0 capability meaning you likely already have an adapter for it if you have yet to upgrade. That aside (as I am on windows 10 which has 5.0 support) I was very easily able to connect and test various devices using this whether that be a controller, some Bluetooth earphones, connecting the phone via bt with all 3 being possible at once. Its pretty recommendable as far as I can tell, no issues at all at the time of writing.
The main reason I got this was to replace an Inateck BT4.0 adapter which has a continuously flashing blue light which really gets on my nerves. This one has a subtle white light to let you know it is on and it does not flash at all which is brilliant.
After removing the Inateck and rebooting, this was inserted and picked up by windows which installed a Microsoft generic BT driver. For some reason the manufacturer has opted not to produce any drivers for this product but rely on the Microsoft Generic BT Driver – and this limits compatibility to Windows 8.1 and newer. Only Windows 11 fully supports BT 5.3. Windows 10 supports 5.0 and Windows 8.1 supports 4.0. So if you already have an adapter that falls into the highest supported version for your windows of choice, I don’t think there will be any reason to buy this – unless you want to be rid of flashing blue lights :]
I am using it to connect a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet wirelessly and it is working really well, there is noticeably less lag when painting than with the Inateck adapter.
Testing it with my BT headphones for range (Bose QC45), it does not seem to be much of an improvement, the sound starts to break up at roughly the same distance as the Inateck adapter. To be fair this could be a limitation of the headphones, I am not sure how I can easily verify that. I find myself wondering if a proper driver would improve things as the generic may not use the hardware to its full potential.
For the current price of 6.99 I would say this is a bargain. It’s just a shame there is no manufacturers driver or support for Linux.
