I recently bought this Ulanzi Mini Fan for my Sony A6700 camera, and it works brilliantly. It attaches easily, and this newer version doesn’t require suction cups. My A6700 used to overheat quickly when shooting at 100fps, but this fan prevents that issue entirely. It has two settings, which helps reduce noise if needed. The only downside is the battery life—it doesn’t last very long and needs frequent recharging. Thankfully, you can recharge it while it’s attached using a power bank. Overall, a great accessory for preventing overheating!

This is probably the smartest and most versatile solution for the overheating issue of most cameras.
The Design is very good and it does the job very well (minor noise audible but not while shooting video).
The ONLY thing I really could complain about is that the Side that is squeezed into the left side of the monitor bay can fall out if the camera is heavily moved / jolted as it has nothing to hold it in place except the “squeeze”. I think if Ulanzi updates this version in the future my tip would be to add just a tiny lip in the middle of the bar that slides in under the monitor swivel thingy. That way the fan is secured in place and can be removed by only squeezing the device together. Other than that, hats off Ulanzi, great job.

    ALMOST PERFECT!

This compact cooling fan has been a great addition to my photography gear, keeping my camera’s temperature in check during long shooting sessions. The adjustable settings and real-time monitoring feature offer peace of mind, ensuring optimal performance. However, the charging process could be faster, and the fan’s noise level is slightly higher than expected. Nevertheless, it’s a valuable tool for photographers looking to prevent overheating issues while capturing their shots.

The adjustable cooling fan is very intelligent-it actively monitors the temperature of my camera in real-time and adjusts its speed accordingly to keep it cool. Moreover, I can easily charge the fan using the same cable as my other devices, which saves me from having to carry around extra cables. Plus, the battery life is impressive-I haven’t had to recharge it mid-shoot yet. It works with a variety of camera brands.

I like to take video with my Sony and on occasion, especially in summer months I find it overheats and I have to wait for it to cool down before I can use it again.

Not now. Out videoing and with the fan fitted t the rear of the camera I have had no issues. Of course will check it in hotter months too.

Charged up in a reasonable time about 95 minutes and though I only use it here and there during the day, it does hold a charge easily for what I wish to do time wise.

All metal fan which is good.

This is a useful addition to a camera setup, most likely when recording long form 4K video and overheating could be a concern.

The body is all metal with a small LCD display which shows the temperature of the camera. There is an on/off button and is charged via USB-C which makes charging pretty quick.

I bought 2 batteries for my A6700 (link at end) which arrived at the same time as the Ulanzi fan, so took the opportunity to test both together. I’d seen a P(review) of the new model Ulanzi fan on aphotography channel, so was very interested in trying it myself.
Info: The ‘older’ version of this fan attached with 6 suction cups onto the back of the camera, using a slick sheet provided (2 off) with the fan, it was slightly smaller than the new version.

The new version attaches directly to the rear panel of the camera (with the screen flipped out!) and the sprung bracket toward the screen hinge. The fan has a rechargeable battery with 3 speeds (0 (off), 1 & 2) varying between off, slow & fast. The tiny LCD display at the top right corner displays battery state, speed and the camera back temperature.
    In use:
Battery life in the slower speed was around 80 minutes for me, and 55 minutes on high. (from 1st & 2nd charge)
Cooling: I set my A6700 to 4k/60 video record and connected an external HDMI monitor (known to increase heating of the camera) With no assisted cooling I can get around 50 minutes recording time before the camera overheats (cut off happens when the back plate reaches c40C apparently). At 4K/100 this time drops to around 25 minutes but I was unable to perform this test at this time.
With the Ulanzi fan running at speed 2, I was able to record until the battery reached 1% (I stopped it there) which was at around 85 minutes – during this time I didn’t observe the camera temperature raising above 32C – ambient room temperature was 21C – a noticeable increase in recording time (battery life was slightly longer than the test as I’d been setting things up beforehand!)
The fan isn’t particularly loud, even on its high setting, but I was concerned that the noise may be picked up by the internal microphone of the camera… Yes, it is, but at a level little above ambient noise (I had to turn the volume up to 90% on my PC speakers to hear it!) and with a little shotgun mic attached to the camera, not at all. This is at my ‘normal’ sound recording level, I wasn’t inclined to turn the level to maximum as it is not a realistic scenario.
As an aside – I haven’t produced a single video of over an hour, but tend to do a batch of projects without switching the camera off – editing software takes care of the waste…

Conclusion: In the use scenario I tested it in, it was able to keep my camera cool enough to not overheat for the life of the battery – a first! Although I suspect that using the camera at 4K/120 the gains would be minimal in filming time, solely because the camera heats up very rapidly in comparison to other modes.

Using an A6700 and would like 3rd Party spares that do not trigger the battery error message?
K & F Concept batteries work without issue, and have a ISB C charging port – find them here:

Disclaimer for this review, I don’t have a compact camera that the mount for this is designed for, so I can’t comment on that.

I will be using it for a DSLR in cases where it gets hot when recording video for a while, and will use elastic bands to hold this on.

It has its own battery you can recharge with the included USB-A to USB-C (fan device end) cable, power adapter not supplied.

Is easy to use, hold the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it on, and a tap of the button to start the fan. It has a small display on it showing the battery charge remaining and temperature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice portable cooling fan for cameras

I own a Sony a7iv, and I’m in Facebook groups relating to this camera. I’ve seen lots of posts in this group where owners of this camera have had the camera shut down due to overheating when shooting in 4K, usually in a warm climate, but occasionally not so warm.

I already knew this product existed and I understand its merits. The camera can get warm and when you’re being paid to be a professional videographer, having the camera decide to stop working is obviously not what you want.

Important features of this cooling fan are:
    > It’s very light
    > It’s very quiet

On full power the fan is barely audible and this is of course an essential part of using this accessory as you don’t want fan noise on your recordings. I’ve added a video to show this.

Attaching and detaching the fan couldn’t be easier. Open the screen, clip the fan into place, job done. It feels very secure and the spring mechanism feels solid enough to hold the fan in place.

This is one of those obscure accessories that makes a lot of sense if you need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential accessory if your camera suffers from overheating
