This is a nice compact sized dash cam. The picture quality is good and it’s very easy to install. When putting in the car, it comes with a tool to help hide the cable. It has a rear camera as well as front, but it can be used with or without the rear camera. You need to install an app so you can view the images on your phone or tablet, and it comes with an SD card all ready to record onto. It can be set in different ways, you can have it continuously recording, or have it recording on a loop (which is probably recommended). To power it, you can either use a USB port or the cigarette lighter (it comes with an adaptor to use this). The camera starts recording when the engine starts and stops when the engine is turned off. It’s a good little camera and works really well.
70mai Dash Cam
First impressions of this dashcam are really good. It comes smartly boxed and the build quality looks really good. It also comes with a 64 GB Micro SD card so no need to get a separate one. The installation was much quicker than I expected, it took about 20 minutes and was really quite easy to do following the provided step by step instructions which were very clear. The set up was also very easy and there is also an app that you can download if you wish to view the video on there. I haven’t used a dash cam before so I have nothing to compare it with but I thought the quality of the video was very good with crisp clear images. I tested it in daylight and in low light conditions and the quality was good in both. Overall I was very impressed with this cam and will definitely be using it going forward. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
This dashcam kit comes with everything that you need, including a 64GB Micro-SD card. However, I replaced that with a good quality 128GB Class 10 Micro-SD card as my daughter undertakes a lot of long-distance drives and I wanted to ensure that there was enough capacity to record these before the earlier drives/stages were overwritten.
The dashcam comes with a decent instruction manual and was easy to set up. The menu and control buttons are also well thought out and pretty intuitive. The most difficult and time-consuming part was installing the camera in the car as I wanted to ensure that the wiring was as neat and unobtrusive as possible, which isn’t always easy given how neatly modern car interiors are finished.
Fortunately, the 345cm long power cable was sufficiently long enough to allow me to run it under the trim around the windscreen and down the door pillar before crossing under the dashboard to the power outlet in the central console. It would, however, have been useful had a few self-adhesive cable clips been included in the kit. The power cord comes with a USB-A plug on the end so can either be plugged direct into a USB socket or into the 12v power socket using the adapter included, which has two USB sockets on the end.
The dashcam utilises a Sony sensor and this is reflected in the picture quality. Daytime video quality, when set to the highest definition, is very impressive and the night-time quality is also higher than that of many dashcams that I have seen. At one stage we were driving through a very heavy rainstorm, which made visibility through the windscreen very poor, when we noticed that the view through the dashcam was far clearer, presumably due to the shutter speed and the way the sensor handles direct light and reflections.
Footage recorded can easily be viewed and downloaded direct from the dashcam using the mobile app. Alternatively it can be played back on the dashcam screen or downloaded from the Micro-SD card.
The dashcam kit also includes a rear-facing camera. However, I have not yet been able to test this as unfortunately the 5.5m cable isn’t quite long enough to allow a neat installation in my daughter’s Honda CRV.
Additionally, there is a parking monitoring facility, which means that it can record any bumps that might happen when your car is parked. However, you will need to have the camera hard-wired into your vehicle (a kit is available as an extra) to utilise this.
At around one hundred and seventeen pounds, the Mai dashcam isn’t particularly cheap but I do think it’s a question of getting what you pay for and that the quality of this kit is worth paying that bit extra for.
Not being the greatest DIY enthusiast – whether that be around the house or my car – I am always wary of having to fit any additional gadgets, but this is very straightforward.
The images from the camera are of good quality and it all works very reliably.
If, for additional security, you want the cameras to operate when your car is parked up, then you will need to spend a little more to acquire the necessary kit – and then it probably would be best to get a professional to hardwire it into your car’s system for you.
If you are not bothered about that and just want to use it when you are actually driving the car, then you do not need anything else.
I hope you find these comments helpful.
First time seeing this on Yanimmizes Video I thought about getting a dahscam but I was always turn down due to high prices and high monthly subscription with other brands but luckily I came aground 70mai . I can assure you is top quality and easy as anything to get it fitted to your vehicle. Image quality is not the best but much better then most budget cheap dash cams . The size is perfect to fit under my rear view mirror grate appearance . Performance and appearance perfect .
Firstly this comes very nicely packaged and it looks a quality product.
The manual says to do operation check and initial setup before installing. To do this you plug the dashcams in…connect to the cigarette lighter connection port…… turn on the engine and follow the onscreen instructions then turn off the engine and install where you want the cams to be.
It was so easy to install, it comes with sticky pads to fix to the windscreens, route the wiring to the cigarette lighter connection port, hiding the wire behind the cars trims using the supplied “crowbar” tool, plug in…. then do the setup.
You’ll need to adjust the camera angles to suit then, when done, everything works when the engine is turned on….. start to finish took me around 45 mins (mainly because i was very cautious with hiding the wires properly).
First test of the dashcam was done during daylight and it showed a very clear image ….. i dont do a lot of evening / night time driving but will update this review when i have done it…… i would have liked a larger screen but this one is clear and does the job.
You can also download the app and i believe have the images / videos sent direct to your phone (again not yet tested so i cant comment).
I am very pleased with every aspect of this from packaging, clarity of the manual to ease of installation and finally the use of the product.
I’ve had cheaper dashcams before but this one is much much better and 129.99 at the time of this review its not a very expensive outlay for the peace of mind it brings.
A definite recommended buy ….

This camera is a great addition to my car and the main reason why I have got it is because it is mandatory for me to have one for insurance purposes. I like that it comes with a 64gb card which means that I didn’t have to buy a separate one and regarding the installation, it was easy and in total it took me around 20 minutes because I had to pull the cable at the back of the car in order to install the back camera. At the beginning I drove for around 10 minutes then I checked what the video quality was and in my opinion it is very clear and it captures good detail in bright light but specially in low light conditions and this is thanks to the HDR and Knight vision feature. I have checked for multiple times the video quality in the dark and of course the front camera records decent video because of the headlights of the car but the back camera is struggling a bit but this is pretty normal considering that there is almost no light at the back of the car. The built in gps is great because it happens quite often when I go shopping to forget what I have parked the car so I can easily locate it using this feature and I also get the record of the position of my car just in case the insurance will ask. The best part about this product is that I can connect it to the app which means that I can easily check the videos and I don’t have all the time to copy them on my laptop and also this dashcam doesn’t take up too much space in my car which I really appreciate.
This isn’t a brand I had heard of before so I wasn’t too sure what to expect. The cam turned up in a smart, sealed box, and was presented very well. Fitting this to the car was straightforward and easy enough using the tools that came in the box, just like any other dash cam kit that has front and rear cameras.
You can use the camera without the app but I would suggest downloading the app to get the most from this camera. The picture quality is fine. For this price, I was expecting it to use the fisheye lens but that’s not the case.
The field of view isn’t as wide as some cameras on the market but those are priced a lot higher than this. The field of view from the lens is good enough to record everything that’s going on in front of the car.
Overall, I think this dash cam is really good value for money, especially as you get a real camera too. And the app really takes it to a new level of usability.
We really like and are very pleased with the quality and the features of this dash cam.
Having already purchased another 70Mai product we hoped this would be as good and we were not disappointed. The packaging is excellent and the inclusion of a 64gb sd card is welcomed. As is supplying a small pry tool to aid installation of the cables.
Fitting was really easy in my wife’s steel roofed convertible as we fitted the rear camera to the rollover bar so it works perfectly with the roof up or down.
Image quality is really good, and being able to download via the app or by removing the sd card is really convenient.
The driver assist works really well for us, with lane, distance and vehicle movement detection just right and very repeatable.
Supplied cables, and all other fittings are of a good quality and more than long enough for our car.
The dash cams come well presented and packaged with style. There is everything you need to install and use the dash cams, unless you want the 24hr parking monitoring in which case you need a hard-wire kit.
It was easy enough to install in our Honda Civic — there is a sticky for each windscreen which the dash cam is then stuck to, then a tool for pushing the wiring behind the inner roof and pillar linings. There is a little bit of wiring showing where the front cam wiring runs from the parcel shelf to the power, but I used some mounting tape to hold it in place and it doesn’t look too bad. The rear camera wiring then runs from the rear windscreen to the front camera hidden in the same way as for the front.
It can be used without an app, as the device starts recording as soon as it is plugged in and the engine is switched on — it then stops when the engine is stopped. Video is recorded to the supplied 64GB card, which slots into the side of the front cam and can easily be removed for viewing of videos. Settings can be adjusted on the front cam using the built in screen and buttons underneath. Alternatively, you can download the app which enables easier setting adjustments to be made and enables you to live view the recordings and download them to your phone.
The video quality is fine. It doesn’t have a fish-eye lens and I prefer it that way as the picture is not distorted like it is with our other vehicle’s dash cam. But it does give you enough of a view of each side of the road you are driving on. We haven’t yet been out in the dark so I cannot comment on the night vision quality.
Overall, I think it’s a good piece of kit and it’s great to have that peace of mind in case an accident occurs.
