This thing is basically no different from an official PS2 memory card, being the same size at 8 MB and reporting very close to the full 8 MB of space. It’s worked very well so far for me, though I’ve only used up a couple of MB.
I love that they still make these for my old PS2. It’s a great console although I spend more time on my PS3 these days (yep I’m that up to date). The memory looks and works exactly like the original ones that I have. I see a few reviewers complaining that 8MB isn’t enough but that’s what they were back in the day. The card works as it should so no complaints there. All in all I’m very happy with it. Recommended.
I love playing on my ps2, although the system is over 20 years old now, it’s still the most sold console in the world.
This memory card is great, quality feels as good as an original and it works just as well too, i play a ton of games and needed some extra cards to be able to save my games, so this one came in just in time.
It’s cheap for what it is, works great and i highly recommend it.
This 8MB memory card offers a basic storage solution for the PlayStation 2. While the capacity is limited, it’s suitable for saving game progress or storing smaller PS2 files. Consider your storage needs for games as larger capacity cards are available.
This is a good memory card for PS2. Some of the bigger memory ones don’t show up on the PS2, so it’s nice to be able to buy one like this in the original 8 MB size that does. Highly recommended.
This PS2-compatible memory card is physically very similar to an official one, only lacking the PlayStation 2 and Sony branding and the markings on the back for obvious reasons. It fits in the slot of my original fullsize PS2 console (SCPH-3004) just fine, and having copied a number of save files from my genuine Sony memory card to this one, all copies work perfectly and are detected by the games. If you’re looking for more storage or just want to keep a back-up of some precious save files from an old memory card, this is the perfect solution.
It’s neatly packaged though as someone else’s review pointed out, the inclusion of a label sticker would’ve been nice.
It’s great to see PS2 accessories still available in 2024 and it’s a testament to the legacy of the console.
The NBCP 8MB PS2 memory card is pretty much spot on with the original Sony ones – featuring the same ridiculously low capacity. Kids today don’t know how tough it was in the olden days…
I still fire up my PS2 a couple of times a month – but I’ve been using it for a few minutes daily while testing this card to give it a run through. No issues encountered. Video attached to show usage/capacity etc.
At the time of writing this is 5.69 which to my mind gives it 5 stars just for how convenient it is to obtain. I have seen price fluctuations though – be wary!
My ps2 is still chugging along like a little trooper and I’m often finding myself in need of memory card (blame the completionist in me). This has been no trouble whatsoever during use and can store a decent amount of save files, however, 8mb is very lacking. These days there’s no excuse for not having a card with 20-30x the storage capacity. All my other cards have way more capacity than this one, so it really only serves a small purpose.
If you’re like me and you’re still nursing an old ps2 as long as possible, you’re going to have a lot of games needing to be saved on it. It makes far more sense to have a couple of cards with 128mb or even higher to store your saves on. This really only fits if you don’t have many games or you’re sharing it with a friend or something and don’t want to risk losing all your files. For what it is though it fits the bill and works just fine.
First off, this obviously isn’t an official PS2 memory card. However, besides lack of logos it’s borderline indistinguishable.
8MB is the standard for the original/official ones, and this isn’t particularly expensive. There are a few out there that seem to be a LOT more capacity for the same price or less, but I am unsure of their compatibility. At the very least, PS2 supposedly supports 128mb so there’s possibly a good argument for picking another memory card.
Ultimately though, it’s just plug and play, fully compatible, and 8MB is still quite big for PS2 saves. It’ll definitely do, and at the listing price of ~5 its not actually bad at all.
I recently tested the 8MB Memory Card for PlayStation 2, and here is my detailed review.
**Compatibility and Fit:**
This memory card is fully compatible with the Sony PlayStation 2 console. It fits perfectly into the memory card slot, and the console recognizes it immediately without any issues. Whether you have the original PS2 or the slim model, this card works seamlessly with both.
**Performance:**
The card performs exceptionally well for its intended purpose. Saving and loading game data is quick and reliable, ensuring a smooth gaming experience. The high-speed performance is noticeable, especially when compared to older or third-party memory cards. It handles large game files efficiently, making it ideal for both casual and hardcore gamers.
**Capacity:**
With 8MB of storage, this memory card provides ample space for multiple game saves. While modern storage solutions have much larger capacities, 8MB is more than sufficient for the PlayStation 2 era games. It can hold numerous save files, allowing you to play a variety of games without constantly managing your storage.
**Build Quality:**
The build quality of the memory card is solid. It feels sturdy and durable, capable of withstanding frequent use. The connectors are well-made, ensuring a secure connection to the console without any risk of data loss or corruption.
**Ease of Use:**
Using the memory card is straightforward. Simply insert it into the memory card slot on your PS2 console, and it’s ready to go. There’s no setup required, and the card functions exactly as you would expect.
**Value for Money:**
Considering its performance, build quality, and compatibility, this memory card offers excellent value for money. It’s an affordable solution for PS2 gamers needing reliable storage for their game saves.
**Overall Impression:**
Overall, the 8MB Memory Card for PlayStation 2 is an excellent accessory for any PS2 owner. It combines reliable performance, ample storage capacity, and solid build quality at an affordable price. Whether you’re revisiting old favorites or exploring new games on the PS2, this memory card ensures your progress is saved efficiently. I highly recommend it for anyone in need of dependable game save storage for their PlayStation 2.
Thought I was hallucinating when I saw this PS2 memory card appear but happily I was not!
I’m a big retro gamer and am always running out of space for my game saves. This card worked perfectly when I tested saving and loading from a few games (Dropship and Grandia II).
Great to have a brand new card for a change instead of a second hand one!
One suggestion – could you please include a little sticky label in future like Sony used to do so we can label up our cards?
Whilst this works perfectly with my old PS2 only 8MB is very little storage for 8.99 (at the time of writing). 128MB can be found for less than this so why would you purchase this one? I have given this 4 stars as the card works perfectly, the cost however needs to come down for only 8MB of storage.
First and foremost, it’s very impressive that this PS2 memory stick looks identical to the original memory sticks that came with the PS2.
Secondly, and most importantly, it works! My PS2 had no issues recognizing it and saving data onto it.
Thirdly, it feels well built and hence is probably high quality, which should mean that it would last. A big plus!
Would highly recommend!
With my PS2 still connected up I was in need of an additional memory card. Now, I would prefer a first party one, but obviously shops aren’t selling them, and you’re at the mercy of things like eBay and gaming fairs.
However, the Vine Lords saw fit to gift me a memory card for my PS2 and I gratefully accepted – well I was probably fasted to choose in Vine lol.
Anyway, it comes on a blister card, and looks and feels like, well, a PS2 memory card, but, will it actually work? Why yes, yes it does. It was immediately recognised by my PS2 after whacking it into the slot (it fits well and can be removed without issue), and it accepted some game saves no issue. It is also very quick to access, i.e., when loading up a game save.
Now, the true test is whether this card still works a month from now, several months from now, even a years later, but, as it is, this works just fine.
Wow. It’s 2024. And Here’s is a Brand New Playstation 2 Memory Card. The Card arrives attached to a Piece of Cardboard within a Plastic Bay. On the Back is this information. “This Memory Card is fully compatible with all PS2 games and consoles. The amount of Space each Game Save uses on the Memory Card will vary depending upon the Game. Check the Back of the Game Case to find out how many Kilobytes (KB) it Required. “. Apparently these days the 8 Megabyte Capacity of the Card is now referred to as 8000 Kilobytes. But I have always thought of One Megabyte to equal 1024 Kilobytes. Therefore 8 Megabytes equals 8192 Kilobytes.
I will now Test the Card by Inserting into my PS2 Console, Playing a Game, Saving the Result. And then Seeing if I can Retrieve The Save. After eventually Managing to Get a Picture on an Ancient TV. I Power up My PS2. And The PS2 Reports 7992K Free on this Card. I then Test The Card by Copying a Game File from Activision Anthology From Another Official PS2 Card Now it reports 7838K. I then Play a Game of Pitfall using the Saved File Copied from the New PS2 Card. And It Works.
Comparing an Official PS2 Card and this New Card the only differences is the lack of a Playstation Logo and the Word “Playstation”, On the Back the Official Cards has Information Printed in the Plastic plus a Metal Plate with more information on it, the New Card is just Blank.
