At 545, this laptop was at the lower end of what I was expecting to pay, and I wondered whether I would regret buying one without a dedicated graphics card. But I needn’t have worried. I’m amazed at how powerful this laptop is. It starts up instantly, and so does Edge and various programs. I need it mainly for using Word and editing videos, and it manages both of those superbly. It handles large Word documents with ease, and when using CapCut, it exports videos in 4K in seconds. My only quibble is that I spend a lot of time wiping fingerprints off the surface, so you might be better off going for silver rather than grey. I should also mention that the OLED screen looks fantastic. The upscaling on YouTube videos is beautiful. All those old Abba and Blondie videos look positively gemlike. Overall, I’m absolutely delighted with this laptop, especially for a very reasonable price.
My laptop features the intel i5 12500H processor, oled monitor at 60hz and 16gb ram.
I have so far used this laptop to watch Netflix in bed and do some light gaming, so I haven’t gotten around to using it for coding.
The processor is good and the integrated graphics are fine enough. I have played some League of Legends on medium-low graphics settings and obviously the FPS is locked to 60. It runs fine (the game runs on potatos anyways). I wouldn’t dare install any newer more demanding games to be honest, but you are welcome to try!
I don’t own and have not owned any other OLED displays so I can’t comment if this is a good one or not comparitively but it looks good to me. The colours are definitely nicer than my old 1080p monitor.
The laptop’s build quality is nice enough, it is no Macbook or anything but it feels decently sturdy, the hinge could be a better but just pay attention to how to handle it. The material used is definitely a fingerprint magnet. The keyboard is a regular old membrane keyboard and this model features no backlighting sadly. The keys feel fine to me but yeah it could be better.
The weakest link in this machine is the battery for sure. I have gone through all the settings and kill background processes but this thing likes to drain pretty fast from activities as simple as just watching Netflix (while it is the only program running in the forefront too). It is quite disappointing and I actively leave Battery Saver mode on with lower brightness so it lasts a bit longer.
All in all, I was looking for a more budget friendly laptop I can take to college for notes and to do my coding assignments and this will do just fine. If you are like me in that sense, then I think you might be just about satisfied with this laptop, though if you will take it to a place with-out many power outlets, good luck.
I bought my partner a Asus laptop thirteen years ago which still works perfectly so thought I’d buy one for myself!
The laptop appears to be very well built and runs windows 11 (which I dislike immensely) with ease. I think it would be more than adequate for most users who mainly run microsoft office and the like.
It is very quiet, has decent graphics and is more than fast enough.
Very good machine at a very reasonable price.
I’m nit fussed that I got the different colour. The OLED screen has very good colour quality, however white text on a black background has a small RGB effect round it where the 3 pixels have to combine to make white. This is a problem with low pixel density OLED panels. Black text on white backgrounds and grey text on black backgrounds look just as good as on an IPS display. for a laptop without a discreet GPU it punches above the rest in it’s price bracket with a CPU that is more than enough for non intensive activities (you won’t be doing any heavy processing work or gaming on this though) and the screen is not something you’d expect on a budget friendly notebook. The RAM is enough but it’s nice to be able to put a 16GB SODIMM module in to get 24GB as 16 is becoming obsolete in the next couple years (8GB is soldered so the module in it is 8GB). It doesn’t get hot due to the lack of GOU but the grill on the bottom doesn’t have any mesh. Seeing straight through to the motherboard means that there’s no filter for the single cooling fan. This means that it’ll probably get clogged up with dust and pet hairs etc but at least it’s easy to clean without disassembly. Disassembly is easy though and there’s a few serviceable parts. I upgraded the wifi chip with one from my old laptop with no issue, the battery isn’t too hard to replace and the SSD is a full size M.2 but there’s only the single slot.
Unlike others, I didn’t experience any overheating with this laptop. Overall, I find it very classy. Took 10 min. to set up Windows OS which is included as well as MS antivirus – so great value.
Pros:
Very bright, vivid colors; you can and should dim the brightness a bit.
OLED screen 600nits ensures no washed-out colors; blacks are really black, not grey, and whites are immaculate!
Great sound quality, both on speakers and headphones.
Very snappy performance due to its fast processor, if you take top spec.
Stable wifi receiver
Cons:
In well-lit environments, the backlit keyboard can make it harder to see the keys; can be disabled with F7 key.
OLED screen and powerful “H” type processor lead to short battery life, lasting a maximum about 4-6 hours depending on usage.
The screen’s glare is an issue in bright conditions; reflections can be distracting.
Conclusion:
The laptop offers excellent specs at a great price. If you can manage the battery life and glare issues, it looks and performs wonderfully, especially for watching videos.
p.s. It comes with 1 yr warranty – must be registered with the SN on asus website.
First I ordered a USED one. It arrived on time, looked really great but the power button did not start up the Laptop. So I had to send it back. After two weeks of waiting for my refund, It got stacked in the Amazon mail centre, so I called Amazon support line, and got my refund within 3 days.
I really liked the design and the price of the Laptop, so I bought again, but a New one. It Arrived even before the day it supposed to. But not a silver colour as it is advertised, but black colour. This time the Laptop start up.
Finally I am satisfied. The Laptop has excellent smooth and fast performance for a mid budget laptop, due to the Intel I5 -12500H, fast SSDi drive and 16 gb RAM. The Processor is extremely fast. On benchmark site , it has one of the highest rating of all mid class processors. The laptop has very good display and sound. I like the camera cover.
In general I am very satisfied, due to its performance. So far the fastest and smoothest Laptop I have ever had. It can do lot of tasks at the same time, which is what I need .
I recently purchased the ASUS Vivobook 15 E1504GA and overall, I’m very satisfied. The 15.6″ Full HD display is crisp and clear with excellent on-screen colors, making it a pleasure to use for both work and entertainment.
The Intel i3 8-core processor with 8GB RAM ensures smooth performance for my daily tasks, and the 512GB PCIe SSD offers ample storage and fast boot times. The laptop is light and slim, which makes it easy to carry around.
My only gripe is the speakers, which are a bit too low for watching movies or videos, especially with background noise. Despite this, it’s a great laptop for general use, running Windows 11 seamlessly.
Let me start by saying that overall I love this laptop. It looks very classy.
Pros: very bright, vivid colours. You can and should dim the brightness a bit. OLED screen means no washed out colours, black is really black, not grey. The white is also immaculate. The colour palette is really extended. The sound is awesome, both on speakers and in headphones. Very snappy due to its fast processor. The keyboard is backlit (this can be disabled) and depending on how lit it is around you this can be a plus or a drawback.
Cons: As I mentioned, in a normal properly lit or bright environment the keyboard backlit is actually bad, it makes it harder to see the keys. I press thrice F7 key to disable it. The screen being OLED and the processor (“H” type) juicing out max performance out of the laptop means the battery life is not great. Depending on what programs/games you run I think it can hold the charge to a max of about 4 hours, maybe a bit more. I used all the recommended Windows power settings and I lowered the brightness to a level of 60 (good enough), also using dark themes. There are some settings in MyASUS preinstalled software that can protect/extend the battery life (e.g. not charging over 80%) If not, the battery will drain fast. And I don’t like the glare of the screen, in a bright day I see more of myself reflected from the screen than its content.
Awesome price considering the specs, so if you don’t mind these negatives the laptop looks and performs great.
EDIT: I believed at first that the laptop is overheating. I had a few instances when it suddenly just shutdown and the laptop was hot. The problem was that I was using my laptop on my bed, there was no space under the laptop for the air to flow freely. That’s why it was overheating. I placed it on a stand, still on the bed, lots of room under the laptop, now it doesn’t overheat and shutdown anymore.
I recently purchased the ASUS VivoBook 15 X515JA, and I am pleased with its performance, especially considering its reasonable price. This laptop is a fantastic choice for everyday use, particularly for browsing the internet and watching videos.
The 15.6-inch Full HD display is vibrant and sharp, providing an excellent viewing experience. Whether I’m scrolling through websites, watching YouTube videos, or streaming my favorite shows, the colors are vivid, and the details are clear.
Powered by an i3 processor and 8GB of RAM, the VivoBook 15 handles everyday tasks with ease. Browsing the internet is smooth and responsive, even with multiple tabs open. It boots up quickly, and I’ve experienced no lag when switching between applications.
The 256GB SSD has fast read and write speeds. It not only ensures quick system responsiveness but also offers ample space for storing documents, photos, and videos. While it may not be the largest storage capacity, it’s sufficient for my needs, and the speed is a significant plus.
The laptop offers a variety of ports, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and a microSD card slot. This versatility makes it easy to connect to external devices and expand the laptop’s capabilities.
The ASUS SonicMaster audio technology delivers surprisingly good sound quality for a laptop in this price range.
I have an old Packard Bell TJ65 that’s done me 10 years plus, I have to remove the keyboard (Stuck with velcro) then use a screwdriver to short a power up as the power button failed and a real pain to replace but it still works and for an old girl it is fine for me, BUT not for the rest of the family! The old TJ65 has an amazing shiny crystal clear screen as competed with the old Sony cinema laptops, but it is so flippin noisy it drives me mad and I installed a fan control software to quieten it down.
So I waited for Black Friday as I do my TV and Mobile requirements and this Asus laptop popped up very early on on Amazon before the sales started and I snapped it for 329. I bought a Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200MHz in the sale for 20 which simply slots in, apart from undoing some screws on back of laptop it was simples, just plug and play, re-screw and done, upgraded Ram to 16GB. I am not a nerd or a techy, I don’t even know if I have done any good, but I feckin hate newspaper websites that kill my laptops and this has done the trick.
The Asus is really fast, very very quick starting, I have 3 profiles for family and it’s bullet fast. The screen is not as good as my old TJ65 but you getz what you pay for and it’s fine for what it has to do. If you need a seriously good screen then you need to dig deep right. It is light to carry, the hinges are not looking to be the strongest so will be careful and not take the Michael. But what I really love about it is it is silent, so silent I worry something is not right, I have a 1900 HP work laptop 3 months old and is noisy compared to this Asus! The battery is fine, it lasts for hours and I have never yet had to run for a charger, it is absolutely reliable and suspect that’s because it does not have an energy thirsty fan panging away..
The only downside is a real cheap keyboard, my HP is back-lit and posh, this is button press, twang and noisy as you type, but actually, for an old fart like me, it actually helps as I don’t mistype as much!
So I am sorry for the wordy review, I don’t do many, but it’s a definite yes from me and I would buy another, if I got some amazingly well paid job that meant i needed another, but I guess I have 3 laptops now so by default have a great job, unfortunately not in the pay scale department!!
