Hi folks just got my Hibird this week and so far I am delighted with the quality of the videos and pictures, and the build quality. I have tried a couple of different types and was not impressed there are a few software glitches but it’s a fairly new product as long as the hardware is up to scratch then I’m sure the software will continue to get upgraded .
I’m still working on the best position for it. so far a pigeon and a couple of crows and sparrows
I did my homework, watched several videos and drew comparisons between this bird feeder camera and others available. I definitely made the right decision going for this model.
The quality of videos and photos are exemplary, absolutely delighted with the results. Having the ability to “turn off” non bird photos means I do not capture myself while topping up the feeders.
The capacity of these feeders is huge and will easily last a fortnight even with corvids landing.
The AI recognition is pretty accurate, even for UK birds and I currently have had 11 different species come to visit and every single one correctly identified. So those of you in the UK considering this product I have no hesitations in recommending.
Two other things worth of note ….
1. The customer service by Camojojo has been exceptional and they are very quick to respond.
2. The Facebook group offers a lot of support and advice and regular uploads of photos/videos that clearly demonstrate the capability of this camera feeder.
Are there any negatives ? Not really a negative but if you site the feeder in an area that gets visited a lot, then you will through the battery life quickly. I have turned on the “low” power mode which restricts the active times by incorporating a night time curfew. I still go through 20% a day in photos only (video turned off). However, even though a single solar panel cannot keep the battery fully topped up I am moving the feeder to another area that has a permanent power feed so I can keep the camera on constant charge.
This is seriously one of the most addictive purchases I have made and with the current discount offer in place there is nothing else on the market to touch it in quality and results.
I bought a slightly less expensive brand a few weeks ago as I didn’t understand the WiFi 2G configuration and it didn’t work for me so returned and found this model, I think it’s a new edition and works on 2Ghz and 5Ghz dual band WiFi and works brilliantly, mine is mounted 60ft down my garden. Easy to set up on the Hibird App. Comes with 32gb memory card or you can buy a bigger memory card (micro SD) up to 128gb. I’m glad it’s coloured green compared to the white models as compliments the garden better. It’s sturdy in quality and has many great features including retractable perches to attract different sized birds, the bottom tray can easily be removed for cleaning, the house can swivel in different directions from the post or tree you screw the mount to and just lift the roof to fill with your bird food. There are several options on the app for photo and/or video quality depending on file size you desire. Easy to upload to your phones photo library and share with family and friends. It alerts your phone when movement is detected and identifies the specie of bird, even if it’s a human (you can turn human movement off) very clever!
The only downside is it’s not solar powered but this can be purchased separately and plugged into the usb port at the back. The manual states that the built in battery can last up to 6 months depending on how many birds visit. It also states it takes 6-7hours to recharge but the camera is easily removed to bring indoors to recharge, so not a major problem to me.
The night vision is amazing too. There is also a Facebook community page to share your sightings with like minded bird enthusiasts. They’re mainly in America where they spot beautiful birds.
All in all I would definitely recommend spending a few more pennies to get something that ticks all the boxes!
