These hedgehog bricks are great. They are really bright, strong and a great size. They slot together really easily and can stay attached to each other really well. They come in a decent sized box with loads of bricks to play and explore with. These would be great for developing a range of skills for younger children and are really fun and captivating too.
These are fantastic fun and great for both young and older children. The parts are well made and burr free. I remember a similar product I had years ago called stickle bricks. These are basically the same thing and just as much fun as they used to be.
The nice thing about these is that they allow imagination to develop. once you start building something it is very hard to resist the temptation to keep adding to it.
There aren’t quite as many pieces as some of the pictures on the website implies but there are plenty to get started and you can always add another set if you wish.
This is perfect for young children and will really help to develop imagination and creativity. Definitely worth the price.
A good starter kit of 90 usable pieces as the wheels are made up of 4 pieces so you may need to order more. Our 4-year-old son absolutely loves these and spends hours playing/building things. Colours are nice and bright without any scratchy parts on plastic. Price is reasonable, I would recommend.
These take me back to my days of nursery nursing, the last time I saw this type of construction toy that attaches via a bristled surface. The first thing I noticed about this pack was the weight – 106 pieces translates to a very substantial amount for the current price of 17.99! There’s a good range of shapes here too, with some pieces I had not seen before and even the much-coveted spinning wheels. They are easy to attach and feel quite robust – I always associate these bricks with sad little bent bristles, which feels like this set may well help to avoid. They are nicely tactile, satisfying to build with, and great for teaching all kinds of STEM concepts from an early age. Recommended as an early construction toy for toddlers and childcare settings.
These “hedgehog” bricks are pretty much identical to stickle bricks. They’re brightly-coloured and seem to be well made, with no scratchy edges or seams. This would be a great starter kit for a younger kid, or a good addition to an existing set!
A lovely building set for our 5-year-old son. He spent ages making a variety of cars, aeroplanes and houses. Easy to use, clean and seen on the carpet (unlike Lego where I always tread on one, ouch!) the colour selection is good, bright and vibrant. There is a handy leaflet which also suggests some building opportunities. Great value for money with over 100 pieces.
Love this fantastic set of durable play bricks.
Remember playing myself with similar sets when I was younger. Used to call them stickle-bricks(?).
These are branded as hedgehog bricks, which is also accurate.
They are not quite as rigid as the old style that I remember. The large pieces are a little flexible/bendable but still appear very durable.
There’s a comprehensive mix of different shapes pieces and different colours including shapes I hadn’t seen before. Love the fact you get 6 wheel shapes too for creating moving objects that can be physically played with once built too.
Great for creative imaginative play and will last a very long time as the blocks will take a lots of bashing about.
Also comes in a nice box with all the blocks loose inside plus a small instruction book which has a few different designs listed on it to start your fun off with some standard (and non-standard) ideas.
The 108 pieces is plenty to built an imaginative set (see photo of my quick Mad Max inspired vehicle).
At the current price there is a 29% voucher available making the set around 16. At this price it comes highly recommended. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth out of if this set for sure. Also would make a great present.
5 stars from me.
I am reviewing what is described online as a 108 piece set bristle building blocks, but these are called “hedgehog blocks” on the box. Priced 9.99 at time of ordering.
At the time of writing, the photographs used online show more blocks than are actually included, so give a misleading idea of what you might expect from a set of 108. I have included pictures of what I received, which in my opinion is only 90 usable pieces (the six wheels are each made up of 4 pieces so are counted as 24 pieces in total, even though the separate pieces can’t be used once taken apart). The booklet included with this set also includes models that are not possible to make with the blocks you get, and I always find this very irritating as it can lead children to feel disappointed, which is very embarrassing when you have given an item as a gift.
That said, these is nothing wrong with the blocks themselves, and there are still a lot of things you can build with them. As stated on the box, they are suitable for children 3 years and older, and seem easy for young children to build with and take apart afterwards. I played with a version of these myself 40 years ago which hurt if you stood on one, but these seem to be a little softer and the “bristles” have more rounded ends which is a definite improvement.
I have docked one star due to the misleading advertising, but still highly recommend these blocks as long as you are happy with the price for what you actually get.
